Rory Miller has dreamed of reuniting with the vigilante superhero Hematite ever since he saved her from a stalker. After nearly a decade of wishing, news of Hematite's murder shakes her small town in Colorado to its core-but Rory gets a second chance at finding her hero when he reveals he's not actually dead.
Kane Kelly is hiding two things from his best friend Rory: his secret identity as Hematite and his romantic feelings for her. As Kane seeks the truth about his superpowers, an anonymous YouTuber named Stone Breaker tries to stop him to protect the local crime ring responsible. When Rory learns who is behind the YouTube channel and teams up with her hero, she becomes Stone Breaker's next target and blurs the line between Kane's double lives.
Rory must face her past traumas headfirst to save Kane's identity and her own life in this superhero romance. This book contains violence, stalking, and strong language.
I loved the dynamic between the Kane and Rory as well as the bond they have with their other friends! Kane and Rory's banter is just *so good* and had me squealing when they finally admitted their feelings for each other. I loved how Rory's mental health was addressed and the importance the author placed on therapy. The reveals of how Hematite came to be in this book made me so excited to see what else is planned for the Riverpeak series. If you love superheroes, romance, friends to lovers with some mystery this is a great book to check out!.

Even as someone who doesn’t typically read romance, I found this book to be really fun to read as the superhero plot is not overwhelmed by the romance. Kane’s sense of humor and his banter are fun, the action and fight scenes feel real and raw, and the characters are relatable and realistic. The pacing of the story moved things along quickly and never felt dull. Seeing the story unfold from the pov of the love interest was also refreshing in this genre. Excited to see what else is in store for this series!
this was a great start to the Riverpeak Heroes series, it had what I was looking for in this type of book. It was a great use of the super-hero genre that had great characters going on. I enjoyed the way Jessica Salina wrote this and look forward to more in this series.

Very quick read - superhero theme with a tinge of romance. Definitely enjoyed the start to this series and am excited to see where it goes. Would have appreciated a little bit more depth to the characters but it is simply the first book so that may be coming. I appreciated the authors emphasis on mental health and therapy throughout.
Friends to lovers, secret identities, and what feels reminiscent of the scooby gang. Jessica weaves a fun and intriguing tapestry of characters that are relatable and bonded with believable back stories and just enough “real life” anxiety to keep you connected in their secret and not secret lives.
Good premise. I was listening to the audiobook. The narrator reads as if she's reading to little children. It took me right out of the story, I couldn't continue listening and it became really annoying. I do not recommend the audiobook. Unfortunately the app I'm using does not have the ebook.
i was craving something with netflix era mcu vibes but more romance heavy and this hit the spot! this was super fun, juggles romance and action really well, and i like how they handled mental health themes
