I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.

I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.

My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.

Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

The series is too long. Too many storylines that continue to long. Much of the book is simply repeating in a slightly different way events that have happened previously.

Oh Boy!

I dread this time, at the end of a book, where all the superlatives that I've used before, keep repeating.

Because, let's be fair, the amazing Characterisation within these books is wonderful.

I laugh and cry with Cait, and all of her family and friends. My heart aches for their losses.

I hope, constantly that, at last, something can be done to ease the strain, that is Cait's constant companion, so that she can get some kind of rest, that doesn't revolve around her sitting on the top of a Mountain, having to meditate for her Nine times Nine minutes, instead of having a well-deserved, truly eight hours a night, in sleep!

So far, this hasn't happened, and it's looking ever more unlikely, as one crisis after another is added onto her shoulders.

Don't get me wrong. The superb characters, and the complex plotlines are still keeping me captivated - but it would have been nice, if at least ONE of the many problems that Cait is dealing with, could have been resolved, by now!

As it is, T R Cameron has done his usual, and left us on a cliffhanger - which I'll forgive him for - this time!

So, as usual, I'm raring to start on the next book in this series, in order to find out what has actually happened to Cait, after her brush with the Chemist!

This is Book Ten: 'Witch With A Cause', and so, as soon as I finish this review: "Go on, peeps, just buy the whole series, take a few days off, and read it through to your heart's content - because you deserve it, and so does this series!"

Then I'll start reading this new book and, once I've finished it, I'll catch you on the flip side, and let you know what I think about it!

I held off on writing this review and then basically forgot about it.

The final book was very lackluster and just didn’t do it for me. I felt like there was constantly too much going on. Our FMC was pulled in every direction in every book and that really never stopped. The nonstop issues made it difficult to follow sometimes. Also, the constant sarcasm and “playful” put downs from LITERALLY everyone she was close to got old quickly. I understand she is a woman in a man’s world, but often it felt like she was a man with all the tough love she was getting.

Finally, while I know the romance was not the main focal point of this series, I didn’t expect that we would get nothing at the end. Her “relationship” in her alter ego felt forced and then it just faded. Then her getting set up by her family seemed to be going somewhere but we never see where that is.

All the final fights seemed very easy compared to the lead up in an effort to wrap up the series. We see long standing schemes just crumble at the very end and no resolution from when the enemy witch and her accomplice (sister? Friend? Lover?) took over the stone henge site.

I actually really liked all the characters though which is what kept me reading. Her dragon side kick is the best! Also, the respectful relationship she has with the leader of the dragons was always interesting. This is what kept me reading and allowed me to rate it 3 stars. However, I doubt I will read the spin off series.

An all-around awesome offering with a cliffhanger ending!

I’ve just got to say that I LOVE Cameron’s stuff, both the writing itself as well as the stories it tells… BUT! (I’m literally LOL at the moment) BUT he has clearly spent too much time with Martha Carr and her penchant for annoying cliff hangers has obviously rubbed off. I joke… mostly, anyway. The cliffhangers aren’t really that annoying. They ARE that dramatic, at least this one’s certainly is, but I’ve made a point of teasing Martha Carr about them in my reviews, and this ending was just too dramatic not to bring it up.

Let me tell you first off that this book just blew me away. Cameron’s talent continues to evolve in all the best possible ways. He draws us into the characters as much as the storyline he’s weaving and one can’t help but be connected with them.

If you are new to this series, do yourself a favor and back up to book one. These really can’t be read independently of one another. However, since there are no bad apples in this barrel, hell, none are even close to over-ripe (lame analogy, but I’m sticking to it), you simply can’t go wrong by starting at the beginning. It’s a win/win for everyone.

How is it possible for her to be so active?

I mean we all know about the mountain & her magic. She's juggling 2 guys & flirting with one at a bar. Like she needs more guys to chose from? Then there's the marshals, special ops team, the group that collects artifacts, Lexi the fake thief, she has her coven duties & training, promise to the dragons to help rid their planet from the invisible monsters, fight the wolves & help coven stop the evil witch. They need to discover her evil plot & that there are more evil witches. My point is there is barely any mention of her meditating in this book or sleeping for that matter. There also isn't much mention of her preparation for different missions. At least not compared to the previous books. I love the mission Sabrina goes on using her infromancy to take down a Thorns small business. It's about time since the Dragons are getting bombarded. The ending is a cliffhanger!

Honestly, felt tempted to just copy paste my review of the previous book in the series because not much has changed in this book and I pretty much feel the same about this book as I felt about that one.

If it wasn’t for Cait herself and, especially, her cheeky dragon I might have dropped this series.

The first sentence in the book blurb, “Chaos surrounds Cait Keane and her dragon partner“, pretty much sums up the book. These multiple story threads that just drags on and on are really frustrating. It would have been so much better if the author would have treated on thread after one another.

Also, this bizarre computer hacking with them entering some virtual world a’ la Tron is not improving things.

Luckily these books are light enough to read that I can read them while doing something else like watching some equally meh TV-show. With Hollywood having replaced actual talent with woke hacks these days, there are no shortage of those.

Shadow

sorry, I would have given you an extra star if it was not for the shadow magic. Having the good guys think way outside the box to defeat the black magic gives the reader an unexpected twist. This theme is similar to the crazy stuff with Doctor Who. Overall, it is a good read and I recommend it to new readers. Between the three of you I have read about 5 or 6 series ( with a few extra with upcoming releases).

More artifacts

Cait and Aza are working with a new boss, helping Aza's family against an invisible foe and helping Diana and her crew go after more artifacts. They are also still working on bringing down the gangs in the city. I really enjoy the storylines in this series and the characters are great. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Awesome and very enjoyable series!!!

Congratulations to T.R. Cameron, Martha Carr and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

For a minute I thought one threat was ended!

Lots of great action
Lots of character development
Lots of successes
Some strangeness
Then really bad stuff that can hopefully be turned around
Thank you!

Now I’m Worried

Things were going along well for our crew, the fight scenes were great and I figured our crew had everything in hand, until the “chemist”.
