Yay! Amazon finally gave Heaven Can't Wait a real cover!!

 photo image_zps1301c847.jpg

Heaven Can’t Wait is only about 90 pages, but leave it to Pamela Clare to give us wonderful characters and a fun, sexy story that easily rivals some full length novels I’ve read. This story takes place between Extreme Exposure and Unlawful Contact, but I read it out of order and had no problem whatsoever. I'm giving this 5 stars because, in my opinion, unlike many short stories, this one didn't fall short or feel lacking in any way, other than I wish it were longer because it was so good.

Will Fraser and Lissie Charteris are two weeks away from their wedding day and everything is wonderful. They’re madly in love and their sex life is sizzling hot. They’ve begun moving their things into the home they’ll share when they return from their honeymoon and everything, everything seems perfect. Until Lissie gets a phone call from her relationship jaded mother who begins filling her head with doubts about whether she and Will are really in love, or if they’re merely in lust. Suddenly worried that they are doomed to end up unhappy like her parents did, Lissie suggests to Will—under the guise of experiencing an old fashioned romance—that the abstain from sex until after they are married, which leads to some funny, frustrating and incredibly hot scenes and kept the story interesting and moving at a fast pace.

Keep in mind, Heaven Can't Wait is not a romantic suspense as is the rest of the I-Team series. This is just a glimpse into Will Fraser's happily ever after and a feel good read. I truly love Pamela Clare’s full length novels and the way she gives us characters who are real, whose actions, reactions and emotions are convincing. She gives us stories that we can relate to, or at the very least, find believable, and this short story is no different. If you’re a fan of her I-Team series, I’d really encourage you to pick up Heaven Can’t Wait, available in ebook format or in an out of print anthology called Catch of the Day, and enjoy Will and Lissie’s sweet, touching and sexy story.

The I-Team reading order, so far:

1. Extreme Exposure
1.5 Heaven Can't Wait - a novella found in the out of print anthology Catch of the Day and on ebook
2. Hard Evidence
3. Unlawful Contact
4. Naked Edge
5. Breaking Point
5.5. Skin Deep
5.9. First Strike
6. Striking Distance

Lissy Charteris and Will Fraser live together and are getting married in two weeks. She challenges them to abstain until the wedding and even establishes a wager.

What happens to the two of them during the two weeks alternates between erotica, humor and frustration. It's a fun story rooted in some serious themes. Short but an interesting story where, unusual for a novella, the two characters are pretty well developed and captured.

"Do you think it's possible for a couple to have too good a sex life?"

Um, I'm gonna say NO but what do I know. Lissy thinks that the explosive sex she and Will have is the only reason he wants to marry her and once he gets tired of it, he will be done with her (thoughts put in her head by her evil mother).

So, Lissy decides that maybe for the two weeks before their wedding, they should stop having sex so that their wedding night will be more romantic. It's a good idea...if they can handle it!

This was a great novella. It was funny. It was sexy. There was some drama.

Heaven Can’t Wait by Pamela Clare is an early novella tied to her I-Team series. It is not a Romantic Suspense, but a straight Romance and was so amazingly good, I sat and read it straight through. I can easily give this a 5 star rating, which I never do for novellas, especially ones tied to series.

The plot covers all the conflicting, intense and loving feelings possible before Will Fraser and Lissy Charteris, who work at the paper with the I-Team, marry. The sex and lack of because of a bet is very well written and so much fun besides being hot, hot, hot. Several I-Team main characters are included and yet this novella can be read as a strong stand alone, too.

One of the BEST novellas I have ever read!

A 5 stars very HOT, very SATISFYING contemporary novella

I first came across this title whilst searching through the list of published novels by Ms. Clare after I finished racing through the novels in the I-Team series at breakneck speed. Though by the time I had finished Naked Edge on October last year this title had already been released in Kindle format as a standalone from the Catch of the Day anthology this title was previously released in, I didn’t find out the fact until December last year. Thank God for the fact that someone thought of releasing this as a standalone because otherwise I would have forgone reading this delectable and delicious and entertaining novella by Ms. Clare.

Heaven Can’t Wait is a story that takes place between the 1st book in the I-Team series Extreme Exposure and the 2nd book in the series. For the world of me I can’t remember running into Lissy and Will in Extreme Exposure maybe because Reece Sheridan seemed to steal every vital thinking cell in my brain with his forceful personality in the story. Regardless of whether you have read the I-Team series or not, you can still pick this novella and read it as a standalone.

32 year old William Fraser (Will) is the sports columnist at Denver Independent and a football commentator as well. Raised by a single mother, Will had never known his father. At school Will had excelled at both academics and sports which had earned him a full scholarship to the University of Colorado. Will had been on his way to building a lucrative professional career in football when his knee had been shattered ending his dreams of making it big in the world of football. Graduating with a degree in history only to find out that his mother was dying of lung cancer, Will had been left alone when he had had to say goodbye to his mother a year after he had said goodbye to professional football. Devastatingly handsome with gorgeous blue eyes, Will has had his fair share of women and had almost given up hope of finding someone meaningful to share his life with when things hit it off with Lissy.

Melisande Charteris (Lissy) is the only daughter of wealthy attorney and his trophy wife John and Christa Charteris. Their cold and loveless marriage had worked its charm over Lissy who has a strained relationship with her mother who tries to impose her bitterness about men, marriage and love on her daughter. The fashion editor at Denver Independent, Lissy had at first taken an instant dislike towards Will when they had first been introduced when Will had joined the staff of the paper as the new celebrity sports columnist. Thinking Will to be just another brainless jock with ridiculous good looks, Lissy had turned her nose at him only to have her whole perspective of Will do a 180 degree turnabout when Will helps her after she injures herself whilst out running.

This story kicks off right in the middle of one very hot lovemaking session between Will and Lissy who are to tie the knot in 2 weeks time. The scorching hot chemistry between Will and Lissy burns right through the pages even from the first encounter itself and it is because of Lissy’s mother Christa’s meddling that Lissy starts doubting what she has with Will. As a result, Lissy proposes a bet between them that they go through the next two weeks without sex in the pretense of making their wedding night more meaningful and romantic. Not one to turn down from a challenge, Will accepts the bet and all bets are off when these two engage in a battle of sexual wills to seduce one another and see who is the first to break and admit defeat which makes this novella a highly enjoyable one.

I liked:

1- Will Fraser. Simply put, I wouldn’t mind having him convince me that going without sex with him is just plain wrong. Sinfully delicious is what he is. ^_^

2- Lissy. She is the type of heroine you root for right from the very beginning. With her insecurities that come into play during the story which she overcomes with determination towards the end, I loved her teasing nature, the way she loves Will and is willing to admit when she has wronged him. She is the best kind of heroine.

3- The incredibly sexy Scrabble game that took place! I will never look at a Scrabble board the same way ever again! ^_^

4- I loved how Ms. Clare put so much into such a short novel that made this one as meaningful as her longer novels. That takes a lot of talent which Ms. Clare has definitely got in spades.

5- Loved revisiting the I-Team once again! Always a plus point.

6- Enjoyed the conversations that took place between Will and his buddies. Several laugh-out-loud moments there.

I disliked: None

Memorable scenes/quotes from the story:

Her breath came in shudders. Her lips were parted, her eyes closed, her hands clenched into fists in her lap. When her head fell back onto his shoulder, he did what he’d wanted to do all night. He kissed her full on the mouth – and she kissed him back.
It seemed like forever since they’d kissed like this with lips and tongues and teeth, and he found after the first kiss that he wanted more. With a groan, he took her beneath him, pressed her back onto the cushions, kissed her harder, deeper.
She arched against him, wrapped her legs around him, moaned into his mouth, a sweet feminine sound that made every muscle in his body tense and sent his mind reeling with urgent, throbbing lust.

There aren’t many authors who can write novellas well, but Pamela Clare manages it with ease. Heaven Can’t Wait is a VERY short novella on Will and Lissy. Both work at the paper with the I-Team, but Will covers Sports while Lissy is Fashion and Arts. I was a little worried in the beginning because it took me awhile to warm up to them because we don’t know much about them at first...But, in the end, they are such great characters!

Will is HILARIOUS! I loved his wicked humor and charm. He always knows the right thing to say and I just love how he is willing to stand by Lissy’s side no matter what comes their way. Similarly, Lissy is a sweetheart who has her moments of insecurity and confusion, which is all natural for a bride-to-be.

What I loved about this novella was that it incorporated familiar faces with the I-Team members and introduces Will’s friends as well. It was a fun and exciting read overall! And that sex scrabble part was HANDS DOWN the best part of the book! Clare, you are a genius! It was a fabulous read! I want more I-Team!

I liked this book. I'm giving it 3 stars as in average aka mediocre. The two main characters didn't fall in love in this book it was more of a before wedding book. I liked the aspect of a novel with new characters prewedding. I had two big issues in this. One was that the heroine Lizzy didn't learn to let go of her mothers opioions. I know personally what that's like. The problem was she could have ruined an important relationship because of it. That's the real reason the whole bet thing came about. Lizzy letting her mothers opioions get to her didn't really stop. Her mother just accepted their relationship. I honestly thought that the couples problems would have been dealt with already. The second issue I had was towards the last few pages of this. They forfeited the bet but the soon to be groom paid Lizzys bet price. She did the same. The issue I had was that she gave up her wedding dress. I don't know if this is just me but I dreamed of my wedding dress since I was four years old. I wouldn't give it up for a slutty one just because he wanted it. The length of this book I liked. The plot wouldn't have been good in a 300page book. Overall I liked this read accept for the two issues I had with it. The one plus is that like in book 7, and 1 in the series Lizzy didn't refer to herself in surname.

This was a highly enjoyable short story! It falls between the first and second I-Team books, but I didn't find out about it until after I'd read the second one. It didn't matter though, even though I do like to read books in order. This story is about Lissy and Will and the weeks right before their wedding. Lissy's mother, with all of her negativity, plants the seeds of doubt in Lissy that grow into a bet with Will. She wants to abstain from sex until after they are married, and since this story opens with some really steamy sex, we know that will not be an easy task for either of them. He is hesitant until she bets him he can't go that long without it, he can't resist a bet. The hilarious result is both of them being frustrated and trying to break the other's will. The end is just so sweet! This was a great short read and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

Finished 5.30.11, date cleared so it wouldn't count in the challenge.

Will & Lissy are great together (gotta love Pamela Clare's leading men)!

The bantering between Will and his buddies was fun to read, and Lissy with the girls from the I-Team.. amazing (oh, how I missed them so).

I didn't feel like I was reading a 'short' because the story was complete and the characters were well developed.

Great read!

Wow! What a surprising little gem this was! I've had this book for what seems like forever (since I've been reading PC's "I-Team" series) but kept forgetting to pick it up and read it. Now that I noticed it's currently available as an ebook and read a brief synopsis on what it was about (and the fact that some characters from the "I-Team" series make an appearance) I decided to give it a try. And I'm sooo glad I did! This was one scorching hot little contemporary!

It features Lissy Charteris and Will Fraser, both employees of the same newspaper, the Denver Independent. Lissy's the features editor and Will is a sports columnist as well as a TV sports commentator. Lissy comes from money but had an unhappy childhood with parents who were miserable together. Will was raised by a single mother who worked as a waitress and grew up in poverty. Will had a lucrative future ahead of him as a pro football player until getting injured late in his college career. At first, due to Lissy's preconceived notions about Will as a brainless jock, they fail to click. But later, after Lissy suffers an injury and Will takes care of her, she begins to see him in a different light. And after one date the sexual chemistry between the two of them ignites, and they become an inseparable couple heading for marriage. The wedding is two weeks away, and all is right in their world, until Lissy's sourpuss mother decides to butt in, putting doubts in Lissy's head about Will. Lissy wonders if they're getting married because they're mistaking great sex for love.

Lissy comes up with a plan that morphs into a bet between the two--no sex for the next two weeks leading up to their marriage. This should prove if they have more between the two of them than just an out-of-this-world sex life, right?

At first the bet is fun, and each of them tries to seduce the other into "losing" the bet. Will takes every opportunity to walk around naked in front of Lissy, and Lissy retaliates with "reverse strip shows" in front of Will. Then there's the Scrabble game with a twist that they play...All of it's in good fun until Lissy's mother arrives a few days before the wedding, and causes more trouble between the formerly "happy" couple. Will it take a near tragedy to get this couple back on the right track and to realize there was nothing wrong with their relationship in the first place?

I loved this little (89 page) story. PC managed to cover a lot of ground, giving a thorough backstory for the couple, and laid out a pretty simple, fun plot. I loved both Lissy and Will, loved meeting up with most of the characters from the previous books (the story takes place between Extreme Exposure and Hard Evidence), loved the humor in the story, and loved the sexual chemistry that Will and Lissy had--they were one hawt couple. My God, the very first paragraph of the book...whew!

Fans of Pamela Clare's I-Team series, you'll want to get your hands on this book or the ebook. For those who enjoy a short, hot contemporary but have never read anything by PC--I think you'll enjoy this one too. It's well-written, fast paced, and gives you a great look at PC's writing style. I don't know if I'm imagining this or what, but I think this might be PC's hottest story I've read yet! 5 stars.(less)

OMG! This short story had me laughing so much!! what a great change of pace from the serious "i-team" atmosphere,to the funny and relaxed HOT couple in the indi newspaper.!

I love to see the Kara, Sophie, and Tessa doing the everyday stuff with the fashion editor Lissy. It showed a different side of them! and just as appealing!

I have to give it to Will. he made me laugh the entire story with his vows of abstinence and his friend Devon with the aversion to pink color !!!

Steam factor was off the charts!! with Pamela Clare`s seal of approval!! **fans herself** LOL!!

If you are an I-team fan.. then you definitely will enjoy this short story!

fav quote: -He got a disgusted look in his face,"What did people do before television- sit around discussing their neighbor`s sex lives? 'Verily, Myrtile, me thinks he had boffed her silly.' What a great short read! I can honestly say I've never teared up reading a short story until I read this last night. It had all the elements of a great book only not as long. I absolutely LOVED Will and I'm a little sad he and Lissy didn't get a full book. There were so many good scenes in this book and I caught myself laughing out loud especially when Devon was there. He came across as a nice guy, but all I kept thinking was "I'd love to see him fall" and also I thought he and Horny Holly would make a good pair and I sort of got my wish (I don't want to spoil it for anyone reading the review before they get the book) But when he told Will he'd come over to his house in the middle of the night and pour ice cubes on his crotch to help keep Will from losing the bet he and Lissy had going, I lost it. L M A O -- I can't wait to read the next book in the I-Team series. Pamela Clare is an amazing talent. Without a doubt, the best short story I've ever read.

OMG... I can't believe this one is part of my favorite series EVAH, I-TEAM!!! If you expect there are some action and suspense in this one, you'll be sorry. Heaven Can't Wait is contemporary romance, and it because Kara, heroine from the first book, Extreme Exposure, is Lissy's friends.

Pamela Clare not just can write great Historical (even I'm not read it yet), great suspense (haha, who don't know her fabulous series I-Team?), but she can write GREAT contemporary romance too. Fact that this is just novella (while I'm not fans of novella), but the story is good and steamy!!!

I will write full review, when I have my laptop (I write this from my phone)

This was well written and Will was an amazing hero. He's sweet, humble, passionate, he's sex on a stick. But the plot was just stupid and I just kept eye rolling as I was reading this. And the Lissy just irritated the hell out of me. She treated Will like shit. How could you doubt that he only wants to be with you for sex and what he feels for you isn't love after being together for more than a year? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Heaven Can't Wait is a novella in Pamela Clare's I-Team series but I think it's best to point out that this is more of a straight up contemporary romance than a romantic suspense like the rest of the series. It's an excellent read and one I'd definitely recommend but if you go in looking for suspense then you could end up disappointed. What you'll get instead is a super hot, incredibly sweet and sexy romance between two fantastic characters and if you're anything like me you'll love every minute of it.

Lissy and Will are crazy about each other and with only two weeks to go before their wedding everyone knows it. Lissy wants to make sure their wedding night is special so she suggests to Will that they hold off on having sex until the big day. Will isn't keen on the idea but when Lissy turns it into a bet with the first person to ask for sex having to pay a forfeit he can't resist. Egged on by a few of their friends they both set out to make the other cave first and it doesn't take long before things are really spicing up between them.

This was a fab little novella and it was a great way to get to know some of the side characters from the series a little better. We also get cameo roles from some other familiar faces which was nice but I loved that Lissy and Will were the real focus of the story. They are a fantastic couple who are clearly madly in love, the sex was scorching and the banter between them and their friends was incredibly amusing. If you're looking for a quick, hot read then you really can't go wrong with this and I'd highly recommend checking out the rest of the series too.

What a HOT, different short story. OMG my nauti kindle was smoking with the first paragraph of the story. When Lissy met Will she couldn't stand him, one day fate or clumsiness intervenes and they end up having hot monkey sex all night, they fell in love quickly after that. This book takes place 2 weeks before their wedding. Lissy decides they need to wait to have sex again until their wedding night. Because their sex life is so explosive, they place a bet on who is going to cave first. The teasing and attempts at seduction by Will and then Lissy are hot and the internal dialogue that goes through each of their brains is quite funny. At one point I was sending mental vibes to Lissy, to just give in =)

I thought it was going to be just a fun read, but it turned out being a HOT, SEXY, FUN read with strong emotions. I LOVED the ending and LOVE Will and Lissy together.

This novella comes between Extreme Exposure and Hard Evidence, amazon has it as I-Team 2.5 but it is actually I-Team 1.5

I cant believe i just now read this book. I was browsing along on Amazon and saw Pamela Clate and a cover I didn't recognize. I read the blurb and immediately ordered for my Kindle. So glad I did!!

What a delightful, sexy story!! Pamela had me LOL several times. I even read one of those lines to my husband and he laughed too!!

Will and Lissy are an adorable and sweet couple. Their love story was sweet and I loved how quickly they came together. Their battle of wills for their bet was so fun.

The mother definitely added conflict in the story.

The ending was super sweet and went as I thought it would.

I am so eager for Striking Distance but this fun read helped my impatience just a bit. :-)

I don't think I admire an author more than I do Pamela Clare. She it utter perfection to me, whether it be historical romance, romantic suspense or a sweet contemporary novella like Heaven Can't Wait.

The short story of Lissy and Will finished my day off nicely. It was funny, it was sweet and it was scorchingly sexy from the very first pages. And not that it means much because I am a book guy wh*re, but my heart was-a-flutterin for Will. I want to wrap his sexy ex-football player body in my arms and lick him in all the hard places.

It was also great to see a few new characters from the newspaper. Loved it!!!

Lissy and Will are madly in love and, two weeks away from their wedding, can't keep their hands off each other.

Their happiness is tested, however, when Lissy, now full of doubts after something her embittered mother said to her, proposes a bet to Will: abstain from sex until after the wedding.

Will, realizing that intensifying the romance is not her only reason for suggesting the bet and unable to resist her challenge, accepts, and the games begin, with both of them trying to seduce each other, while trying to not to cave.

Battling sexual frustration, they have to finalize their plans for the upcoming wedding, and hopefully overcome the underlying issues before their wedding day.

Engaging, steamy story, that I would have enjoyed more if not for Lissy's idiotic reasoning.

How could you think that was a good idea?

Next comes Tessa's story in Hard Evidence.

Will ve Lissy'nin hikayesi oldukça hoştu yine beğenerek okudum

Başta bi alışma dönemi geçirdim hikayede başlangıcı atlamış direk orta yerinden girmiş gibiydim (tabii antoloji olmasınında etkisi bu diye düşünüyom direk yatakta başlayınca kitap:D) ama ilerledikçe güzelleşti sonlara doğru ise cidden iyiydi:)

Short and extremely sexy romance that makes the pages burn. Lissy and Will are in the final two weeks before their wedding. They are very much in love with an off the charts sexual relationship. It is this melting sex that has Lissy's mother worried that Will is marring her just for the hot sex, oh and the money. Mommy Dearest has sown seeds of doubt in Lissy's mind and heart.

Lissy and Will make a pact not to have sex until their wedding night, with consequences to the one who demands sex before the wedding. This is a really hard (pun intended) agreement to live up to for this very sexual couple, but both keep the deal. Then Mommy Dearest comes to town and the real reasons for this pact come to light.

Heaven Can't Wait is sweet I-Team novella about Will and Lissy who are about to get married in two weeks. Lissy's mother says something to her, so they have a bet on not sleeping with each other till the wedding-night. Of course it not easy. I enjoyed it, these two loved each other and it showed.
