Rosh Nice review, Thibault! I have never ever come across a retelling of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, probably because it is such a tragic love story and writers generally prefer to rewrite the 'happily ever after' ones. Glad you enjoyed this. :)

I think you hit the nail right on the head. The 'happily ever after' ones usually are the fairy tales most people fell in love with when they were kids, both readers and writers. So it makes sense those are retold the most.
