Katherine Center always knows how to write a terrific rom-com, so her latest novel seems meta in that way.

I really enjoyed it throughout and found myself getting teary-eyed at times. So many great characters with wonderful banter. The situation with Emma's dad was so harrowing, but I loved how good-natured he was despite everything that he had been going through. And I can understand Emma's guilt over the whole situation, as well. I felt frustrated for her in regard to working with Charlie, esp

The Rom-Commers was a snappy, fun, and heartening romance story. This was the perfect blend between a book and a movie. There was an intermix of humor, anxiety, courage, and emotion between the main characters, Emma and Charlie, that was intriguingly captivating. I loved how the characters were complicated and the story heavily character driven. I was fond of the plot also. Center enveloped a switch in the traditional rom com gender roles that created a fresh take on what could have othe

Thank you, St. Martin's Press for consenting to let me read this arc, Rom-Commers by Katherine Center. I loved the banter between Emma, the wannabe screenwriter who has spent the last 10 years caring for her dad, and her hero, Charles Yates, the award winning renowned screenwriter. Because her specialty is rom-com, Emma gets the chance of a lifetime to work with Charles and rewrite a script he's butchered because romantic comedy isn't his thing. She moves to LA for six weeks, leaving her dad's c ...more

I loved the concept of this and loved the first 60% of the book. It was a great lead up to a great story and found that both MC were well developed. Then an abrupt halt happened at around 60-70% of the way through and I was cringing through the rest of the book. I needed it to be over and couldn't bear the dialogue and ending. I enjoy KC books, but this was a miss for me. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. ...more

This was an enjoyable rom-com that lived up to its name. I hope this will be made into a movie soon. The author's note was spot on and I may have liked it even better than this charming story. I like that she's picked her hill to die on. Hopeful stories about human connection do have cultural value. Hooray for love stories. Keep it up, Katherine.

Thank you NetGalley for her advanced reader copy! This was by far one of if not the favorite Katherine Center book! I love me a good romcom and the banter and movie fun in this one is fantastic! The visit with a character from a past book was super fun, and just the whole ride made me smile and laugh out loud!

As light hearted and fluffy as you’d expect. If you don’t like Rom-Coms, and want something exceptionally deep, this probably isn’t for you - but based on the title, you know what you’re getting here. It’s meant to be light, warm and fuzzy feeling, and short. It’s a beach read, a weekend read, an escape-from-life read. Emma is a witty, intelligent aspiring writer with some familial angst, who gets unexpectedly paired with a slightly neurotic curmudgeon of a star screenwriter and hilarity ensues. ...more

Katherine Center is a must read author for me, and she does it again with The Rom-Commers. Something about her writing always leaves me satisfied as a reader at the end of her novels.
Emma is up against all odds when she is thrown together with her favorite writer and has to help him re-write a Rom Com when he doesn’t even believe in love to begin with. Can she do it? Katherine Center’s characters are written with depth and readers will come to love and root for Emma and Charlie.
The perfect sum

I listened this this one on audio. It was very cute. A fan of a Hollywood writer who has been a caregiver for her father and put off her life get a shot at helping him write a Rom Com, which he doesn't want to do (action and sci fi are his genres).

The characters are developed for a romantic story, and it's deeper than just pure romance, with themes about loss and illness and family woven in , but it's also a cute romance, albeit overdone at times.

I've enjoyed a few of this author's romances as
