This book started out soooooo slow. I really enjoyed the book being about a circus. It is exactly what I would imagine a magic circus would be like. I have to say though I got really confused about the time frame in the book and eventually started to pay attention to the dates at the beginning of the chapters. The love story was good.. but it was odd they were in love with each other from a distance.. but I suppose that is magic. I do think the whole dueling between the magicians was odd.. Somet

The Night Circus is a wonderfully atmospheric literary concoction that will enthrall you from the opening pages.
It's about a circus that only opens at night. Performers at the circus enchant audiences with acts that seem to be outside the realm of possibility. Patrons of the circus can wander in tents that seem to be more dream than reality. The acts in this circus are indeed extraordinary, because they are performed with real magic, not artful stagecraft.

What I loved- the atmosphere, some of the characters, the way the story was mysterious without being annoyingly so.
What was "meh"- the soft ending, the mediocre buildup to the not so climactic climax, the back and forth timing (I'm not great with dates and i found myself constantly flipping back to chapters to figure out where we stood on the timeline.
Overall, more unique and enrapturing in its newness than anything I've read in a while. ...more
