The whole premise of this was like second chance from high school sweethearts. Second chance works best in my opinion when there either forced proximity or someone has to grovel. The author tried to do the latter but it’s rlly hard to be invested in the groveling when he never did anything wrong. The reason they broke up was literally so normal, he’s leaving for college and don’t wanna do long distance, and nothing was added to make it interesting. Because no one did anything actually wrong he groveled because he never called or visited her?? Even though like she told him when they broke up that she didn’t expect that. Like he kept going in the book forgive me forgive me and I’m like for what. The other thing is he’s was a pro football player and like apparently was in the news for bad things (fucking around) I’ll mention that I think that should’ve been explored deeper or shown instead of told because I was reading the whole time like what did he even do and even when it was explained I was still somewhat confused purely because there wasn’t enough world building/explaining to make it seem sort of real. Next thing is idk if this author researched football or naw, my guess is no but whatever. His reasoning for this whole thing was he was in a bad contract which like changed him and made him shallow, idk it just didn’t make any real sense and when I tried to buy into it I was left bored. Last thing abt plot is just like ofc there has to be end of the book “conflict” and I put that in quotations intentionally however this one’s was so dumb and solved in like 10 pages. The entire thing could’ve just been cut out of the book like. Now all of this could’ve been true and I might have been able to enjoy the book, however the writing was also not good. For example, gems such as
“And last, but certainly not least, the man is a prime example of what fills my clit closet. “

Furthermore, I could not stand one side character (savannah). I thought the kid was cute and that whole situation was one of the few enjoyable parts in the book. Last redeeming part would have to be the smut. In general only real reason I finished this is bc I was on a plane and it was the only book I had downloaded.
