DNF @ 50% Not for me. I simply didn’t care about the MC and also I’m not a fan of romance. I read for my own enjoyment and I wasn’t having a good time.

Listened to the first 45% and the last 5%. There’s nothing wrong with this book, it just didn’t grab my attention, I got bored pretty much straight away and it never picked up for me. I suppose it’s not that kind of book.
I read some reviews with spoilers, I don’t know when the incident happened. Maybe it’s in the 50% I skipped, maybe it’s in the 50% I have listened to but I just didn’t pay any attention. Like I said, didn’t not grab my attention at all....more

It failed to grab me from the beginning, I found it boring, I disliked David. The only redeemable quality seems to be Yanagihara’s writing. I knew this book was different from A Little Life (which I loved) yet I was still disappointed by it.
I’ve only finished part one of this book, maybe will continue later....more

This book was trying to do something, but I don’t think I understood what that was. Annie and Terzo are such unlikable characters. The “magical realism” part about body parts disappearing didn’t really make any sense to me. This book just seemed to be a normal fiction about dysfunctional family. This was my first book from this author and his writing seemed to be trying too hard. The narrator for the audiobook was too animated at times if it makes sense. This is a short book but I just can’t bear to finish it....more
First DNF of the year, and I sincerely hope this is going to be the worst book, because, how can it get any worse?
Maybe I am just not intelligent enouFirst DNF of the year, and I sincerely hope this is going to be the worst book, because, how can it get any worse?
Maybe I am just not intelligent enough to enjoy this book, because you’d think this book was the winner of the Booker Prize for a reason. I started dislike this book pretty much straight away. The paragraphs are long, the chapters are even longer; there are only seven chapters for a 350 page book. This makes it really difficult to pick up where you’d left. The characters don’t have names, instead they are called “maybe boyfriend” “chef”. I found the writing irritating. DNF at 12%, normally I’d give a book a bit more time before I DNF it but this book was just simple too painful to read....more
