Perhaps with the narrators. They are fantastic, giving the characters true personalities. It feels as though they could be holding conversation with us, there are nuances in all the right places, expression and depth to their narration, they are the characters and we are captivated.
Of course Erin Nicolle knows how to write a great story, romantic comedy is certainly her strength but Jason Clarke's hint of an Irish accent for his Prince Torin of Cara and Shaina Summerville's Abi are just perfect. The story of two complete opposites couldn't be more perfect. It is far from a predictable boy meets girl instalove story. Torin is a prince in need of a bride and Abi is a nerdy scientist who wants to hide from the world. But something draws Torin to her, he wants to be there for her, support her and he wants her to come to feel the same towards him, one day even become his wife, his princess. Can Torin show his grandfather that the plans and ideas he has for Cara, to make it more sustainable, to support the campaigns for climate control, to speak to the more powerful countries that surround them and let their people have a voice too, are not only workable but what their little island needs to survive? The story has some powerful undertones but Erin Nicolle has worked them in seemingly effortlessly so that they don't overpower the story. It remains lighthearted but we hear the message whilst enjoying the developing romantic feelings Torin and Abi have towards one another and hoping that we are heading for a happy ever after - we all love those after all!...more
