I was apprehensive to read book 4 and have been avoiding it for a while. Now I'm annoyed with myself because this book was BRILLIANT and my favourite in the series!
I absolutely devoured this book.
I adored Gianpaulo x York, both as a couple and separate characters. The storyline, the pacing, the relationship development were so well-done and this is easily the best book in the series. Tex x Enzo will always be my favourite couple but Paulo x York came very close!
I also loved every single interaction Paulo has with York's kids. They were such a great addition to the series and I'm excited for the last book in the series!
Favourite Couple : 1. Enzo x Tex (Book 1) 2. Gianpaulo x York (Book 4) 3. Giancarlo x Ash (Book 2) 4. Benito x Harlow (Book 3)
Favourite Book : 1. Never Say Never (Book 4) 2. Take Me Apart (Book 1) 3. Paid in Full (Book 2) 4. Say I Do (Book 3)

This is one of these series' that was good because the books were a fun 300 pages, which meant the plot moved at a good pace. However, as the series has progressed, the books have increased in length and the storyline now feels like it's dragging.
This book could have easily been 100 pages less and it would have not impacted the story. I applaud authors getting that KU money (paid per page read) but once it impacts the quality of the series... yeah, you start to lose me a little. A lot of this was filler.
What could have been a top series for me has slowly fallen to a mid-level mafia romance. I actually spent a big chunk of this book bored, which considering I love the arranged marriage x mafia romance trope, says a lot.
Overall, this is a fun series that has started to lose its spark for me. ...more

I wasn't actually expecting to like this book due to some of the reviews I saw but honestly, I loved it! Giancarlo is a complete psycho and Ash is a sweet puppy (IYKYK).
I can see why people wouldn't enjoy the relationship between Gin and Ash, due to how it starts and the power imbalance but I felt it was written surprisingly well.
Enzo's story is still easily my favourite and I'll be surprised if that changes!
Now I'm eager to read Benito's story!

Police officer Tex begins to look into the renowned Vitale brothers in order to make Detective. Tex visits one of their clubs where he meets Enzo, the youngest and coldest Vitale brother. Enzo killed his last lover to protect his family, so what will he do when Enzo discovers that Tex is a cop determined to take down the Vitale's?
I adore Enzo and Tex with my whole heart. Their chemistry was amazing and Tex was incredibly patient with Enzo. The storyline was rather simple but still enjoyable. I'm excited to read the other brother's stories, particularly Benito!
The four stars is because the romantic relationship could have been developed a little more.

This book is probably one of the darkest in the series so ensure you check the trigger warnings before diving in.

My heart absolutely breaks for Lyla. She was such a wonderful and authentic character, and I hope she gets a truly happy ending. I disliked the 'Shadow Man', as I felt like he could have done so much more to help Lyla. It honestly felt like he enjoyed witnessing her abuse at times and only stepped in when someone touched 'his property'. The Shadow Man character, despite being built up for 5 books, was a bit of disappointment to be honest.
The plot twists in this book had me smiling like a complete loser at times! I love how all the books are linking together and you could feel that this one was building up to something big in the next book. I'm so excited for book 6 and I hope our couples all get the ending they deserve.

I do love how all the couples seem to link together.
However, this book has the same issue that all the others do. Everything seems to happen in the last 50 pages which results in a rushed ending.
And yet, this series is addicting! Can't wait to start book 5!...more

The first 51% of the book is flashbacks which I absolutely detest. We'd had hints of Dante and Amara's history and we had to relive all of it for the majority of the book.
When I thought I'd got through the constant flashbacks BAM! surprise pregnancy trope which a friend and I had agreed could be the only thing to make this book worse.
The plot was severely lacking and this book is the exact reason that I hate the friends-to-lovers trope. If you're looking for the forbidden love trope, keep looking it wasn't that good either.
Also, Dante referring to himself as a "bad guy" had me physically cringing and walking away. This is a 30-year old man leading the biggest mob family in the country and he's talking like a teenager.
Overall, this book was a huge disappointment and I'm so glad to have finished it....more

What I Liked: ◉ Tristan's character development - it was interesting to watch this man slowly soften and become an emotionally mature adult (kind of... Morana can't work miracles). ◉ Tension - this book still had quite a lot of tension and angst, which I LOVE! You never knew what Tristan was going to do. ◉ The relationship - I honestly kept reading for Tristan and Morana, it definitely wasn't for the plot.
What I Didn't Like: ◉ Plot - or the lack of plot for the most part, I'm so intrigued by the Syndicate yet we're being handed bread crumbs. ◉ The ending was a bit of a convoluted mess - new characters were suddenly brought in, I didn't know who was stabbing who and it was rushed to the point it had no emotional impact....more
