They avoided each for 12 years. And then it's revealed why they've fallen out... and BOY WAS IT STUPID.
I hate second chance romances, and even more when its for a completely stupid and unrealistic reason. Genuinely, it pissed me off so much I wasn't even rooting for the main couple.
My least favourite of the series and my least favourite couple. A disappointing ending to the Queen Cove's series.

It didn't help that JP (dad's best friend) was also her godfather who had been the second person to hold her when she was born, and had treated her pretty much like a daughter up until the day she turned 18.
The smut was excellent but JP x Whitney's only connection was good sex. They didn't have any other conversation outside of Whitney cheating on her fiancé, her parents finding out about their relationship or the fact they love each other. Their relationship wasn't believable which just made it feel creepier.
I probably won't read more from this author but fans of slightly taboo books may enjoy this.

It is revealed that Wilder's ex-girlfriend Rachel (also Leah's best friend) cheated on him with this best friend Nova, another OG member of the Renegades.
Wilder gives Nova an ultimatum - the Renegades or Rachel. This book deals with the consequences of Nova choosing the Renegades over Rachel, and Wilder's plan to get them back together.
I was extremely excited for this book and was not disappointed. I loved Nova, and Rachel was just the perfect amount of petty. You could tell these two were meant for each other, and outside factors kept pulling them apart.

I knew I was going to struggle with this book. 'Better Than The Movies' was the perfect comfort read between two childhood frenemies. Seeing them two I knew I was going to struggle with this book. 'Better Than The Movies' was the perfect comfort read between two childhood frenemies. Seeing them two years later broken up after the death of Wes' father was like a shot to the heart.
And yet.
It felt so realistic and heartbreaking. 'Better Than The Movies' was that perfect romcom experience whereas 'Nothing Like the Movies' brings you back down to earth and shows you the devastation that grief can cause. Wes and Liz are soulmates and yet, life just keeps getting in the way.
My only frustration was that if these characters had literally had one conversation early on, this book could have been 100 pages shorter! I would loved to have seen more happy moments between the two characters.
While this didn't hit the same as the first book, I enjoyed it nonetheless. Lynn Painter is an auto-buy author for me.

Because who thinks writing a second chance romance based around the events of the Taliban taking Afghanistan after a 20 year war, a conflict that devastated thousands, was a good idea.
And our FMC risks people's lives because she's lost contact with her journalist sister, who doesn't even want her there. The FMC also reveals that she's only in politics, not to withdraw American soldiers from Afghanistan but rather... to get her boyfriend home. Literally. She admits that's the only reason.
Honestly, this whole book was icky and reeking of white saviour. The romance itself was predictable and boring, and neither of the characters had any chemistry. The miscommunication that resulted in our FMC believing the MMC was dead for 3 years was the nail in the coffin with this book.
I know Yarros' has a love of military romances but this one could not have been more tone-deaf. This was a topic that needed a lot more sensitivity and it missed the mark.
Hugely disappointing from her and could do with a complete re-write....more

Twenty-nine year old Piper Calloway is the VP of her dad's company, happily single and living with her best friends. That is until she bumps into Kyle Miller, the boy she fell in love with 13 years ago at Camp Wawa, in her father's building as one of the new security guards. The worst part is... he doesn't remember her.
I'm usually not the biggest fan of second-chance romances but this one actually made sense for the story. Kyle and Piper were truly soulmates and it was sad they were kept apart for so long. I loved the flashbacks and it felt like we got to fall in love with them twice.
The Simple Wild still stands as my favourite Tucker novel but this one is definitely in the top 5! ...more

I could not put this book down and I'm so annoyed I waited so long to pick it up. I'm also shocked this is a debut novel for the author because of how well written it was.
What I Liked: ◉ The characters - I loved our FMC and MMC. They were complicated and interesting characters, and their relationship development felt so natural. I may be developing a slight kink for stoic and grumpy florists... will report back. ◉ Dual POV - I loved having POV's from both our characters. Having the flashbacks from our MMC POV was genius and made me enjoy them a lot more (not usually a big fan of flashbacks). ◉ The plot - it was basic and yet I was fully invested. ◉ The writing style & pace - the story had a good pace (even with flashbacks which can sometimes make the story feel stagnant) and the writing style was enjoyable.
What I Didn't Like: ◉ The side characters felt like the weakest area in this book - felt like they could have added that extra oomph (yes, that is the technical term).
