Orion and Layla have been ignoring each other for years after a falling out that involved him turning up drunk to her prestigious ballet audition when she was 18. And boy is this one a sloooooow burn! I loved the relationship development in this one, and they're easily one of my favourite couples.
Layla is probably the first FMC in this series I have related too, which is why I flew through this book. She was such a strong and vulnerable character, and I absolutely adore her. Orion was a fun MMC, although Liam and Miles remain my favourite.
The sadistic dom is really not my thing, but it's not super heavy in this book which I hugely appreciated. Loved seeing another side to cinnamon roll Orion.
I couldn't quite rate this one five stars because I felt like the booked stopped abruptly, and we didn't see enough of Orion and Layla as a couple. Would love to have seen a stronger epilogue!
Next up is Kai, the priest who definitely has a crush on his best friend, and possibly his best friend's wife! Excited to see how the author handles a throuple!

The two of them are pushed together when she has to take an internship in the youth centre that he volunteers for, with Reed working as her internship supervisor.
The Deepest End of Love is a slooooooow burrrrrrn. Lila and Reed circle each other for 50% of this book before anything happens between them.
Lila was a slightly frustrating character but her growth throughout this book is heartwarming. Reed was a great MMC, although my favourite will always be Cal. (Sorry not sorry).
I loved seeing Cal & Grace as parents, along with Maddie and James from book 2. The ending had me tearing up, especially Grandpa Cal with his grandson Samuel.
A fabulous ending to a cute series! Excited to see what else Lisina Coney writes!

Abby Jimenez has an addictive writing style that results in me having to read her books in one sitting! I flew through this book so quickly and I'm ready to read her entire catalogue.

I'm so glad that this book starts with Zoe at 18, and she's been 18 for a few months which I prefer! I think if I'd seen Liam and Zoe interact when she was underage, I might have struggled with this book. And I loved their relationship development, it was extremely well written so bravo to the author! I never got the ick over their age-gap and she somehow managed to balance the guardian x ward, student x teacher and dom x sub well.
The third-act break-up felt justified in this book, and it never felt messy. It allowed both of them to grow as people and learn how to communicate and understand each other's needs. Liam is struggling with his guilt around his relationship with Zoe, and Zoe is still healing from her parents death and becoming independent/finding herself. When they finally came back together, it made sense.
I need to go back and read book 1 but I'm extremely excited for Orion's story. Step-sister romance... SIGN ME UP.

Penn Cole's writing is so effortless and enjoyable. You don't even realise you're flying through the book and I loved that we got to know Luther more... and dare I say, he's slowly becoming a favourite MMC.
I will say that Penn's weakness is not moving the plot along fast enough. The pacing is very, very, very slow but it does allow us time to get to know the characters. I didn't enjoy Diem as much in this one and found Henri's character frustrating.
However, that ending!! If book 3 wasn't 1000+ pages and I didn't have a physical TBR glaring at me, I'd be diving straight in!

I want to start this of by saying I love Ana Huang's writing style. I loved her Twisted Series, except Twisted Hate - you know what you did, Josh - and I was very excited for this book. It had everything I love in a romance book.
Book 1 starts with the 'King of Wrath'. I expected fireworks and something truly amazing (perhaps some wrath) but was handed a repackaged Twisted Love, but without the lovable FMC and interesting MMC. 'King of Wrath' must be in another book, because it's definitely not the scowling and boring Dante Russo.
Positives: - The side characters - the only thing that saved this book in my opinion. It's bad when your side characters have more personality that your two main characters. However, this book has made me extremely excited to read Kai's story (King of Pride).
- The writing - Ana Huang has a writing style that is incredibly easy to read and lose yourself in, and I can't fault her here.
Negatives: - The plot - the plot for this book screamed "I used up all my good ideas in the Twisted series and have nothing left". Ana Huang is such a good writer but the plot was basic, predictable and boring. I don't mind a basic plot, but you need main characters with a personality to make up for this.
- Dante Russo - a repackaged Alex Volkov from Twisted Love, but with no personality or a single positive trait in sight. I felt like we were being told that Dante was a good person rather than being shown this, which made it harder to connect to him. I literally could not have cared less about Dante and if he'd died suddenly, I probably would have given the book four stars.
- Vivian Lau - I liked Ava Chen in Twisted Love, but Vivian felt like a hollow version of her. Her lack of personality was evident when we met her friends Sloane and Isabella, who were both phenomenal characters. I truly hope we gets books from them both.
- The break-up & reconciliation - the break-up made sense and we all knew it was coming. However, it got to the point that the reconciliation was dragged out for no reason. Maybe it's my strong dislike for our FMC but it just felt like she pouting because she could, and it seemed like she was mad at the wrong person at times. I would have loved for more communication between the two regarding the situation they were put in, since they were both 'stuck' in this arranged marriage with Dante being blackmailed.
- Dante & Viv - they do not make sense as a couple. The only thing that had as a couple was sexual tension, nothing else. For me to enjoy a romance, it has to be more than sex and chemistry, and unfortunately that's all this was.
- The sex scenes - shockingly bad, especially from our King of Wrath. Watching paint dry would be more enjoyable than Dante in the bedroom. This is probably down to Dante not having a single interesting personality trait!

Maladek was also such an interesting MMC, and definitely deserved a bigger role in Fejo's book. It was also nice that the mating bond clicked in place straight away, rather than being made to wait the entire book.

What a conclusion! I loved this book more than book 3, although book 1 was definitely the best in the series.
This book did get a little bit crazy and unbelievable at times and I think the plot twist for book 2 should have been the big plot twist for this book. It felt like book 3's plot twist was just included to shock the reader, rather than it making sense.
However, this whole series was such a fun ride! Would hugely recommend it for a darker why choose romance, and I'll definitely be reading J. Rose's other series'. ...more

I'd honestly put money on the smut scenes being written by AI.

"Mean, so mean, so mean," she pouted, writhing on his stiffness to rid of him those final ounces and he flattened her..." THIS ENTIRE SCENE HAD ME PUTTING MY KINDLE DOWN AND WALKING AWAY.
The 'Mean Daddy' nickname was not giving what Tessa thought it was giving... it was icky.
