Now this book is the ultimate definition of an emotional roller coaster.
Zahra is a preacher’s daughter who is expected to upkeep the appropriate image. However, it’s not who she is. Zahra’s friend invites her to a club where she eventually meets Pierce, and there is an instant connection between the two. Pierce becomes very protective of Zahra, especially with his dominance and his personal/professional background. Pierce is a dangerous man who will do anything to make sure Zahra is safe, all while Zahra is going through her own trauma and self-healing journey.
I will admit, this book was a little out of my comfort zone as I’m not used to the Daddy dom/BDSM tropes. This is a very fast paced book—there is a lot going on. But, I think that’s what kept me going. I was hooked and I needed to know how this ended. Not only was this book hot as hell with the spice, but the plot was there!! Definitely some suspense mixed in, and I was here for it.
Zahra has been through a lot of trauma, so to see her end up with someone like Pierce was truly beautiful. All she ever wanted was to feel wanted, loved, and important, and that’s exactly how Pierce treats her. Pierce was very dominant, but also consenting. Definitely the definition of an alpha male who would do anything and go any lengths for the woman he loves. He was raised to become a man working with criminals in a dangerous world, but Zahra was his anchor and he fell hard for her.
The spice was hot, the plot was intense, the pace was fast enough to keep you going. Overall, I thought this was a good book. Thank you and huge shout out to CJ Raine for the ARC!!...more
Madalyn is someone who was bullied all throughout school for being a goodie two-shoes book nerd, up until recently when she, basically, took over Sophie’s life after she went missing. “Maddie” became popular, joined the cheering team, and is dating the football star. Miles, Sophie’s brother, is back in town to try and figure out what happened to Sophie. Miles has the reputation of an angry, bad boy, and everyone in town thinks he killed his sister, But Madalyn knows better. Miles is the first boy she’s ever loved. She knows he wouldn’t do anything like that to his sister.
Eventually, Madalyn starts to get creepy text messages from an unknown number, and they start to become death threats. Miles said this happened to Sophie before she disappeared. This could mean whoever was stalking Sophie, has now decided Madalyn is their next victim. Miles and Madalyn decide to try and work together to come up with clues on who the stalker is, which then turns into a tension-filled relationship. Both Miles and Madalyn have had feelings for each other for a long time, and it was about time they showed each other that.
This book was very suspenseful and kept me on my toes all throughout. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this to feel so YA, but I liked it. Definitely included the vulnerability of a young girl’s first true boyfriend love and the consequences of it. It also gave A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder vibes, but with A LOT more spice. Like seriously, Miles being a virgin and had that kind of mouth? ...more
