There have been a lot of badass biker chick family members in clubs, but never actual patched members. While the story was interesting it needs a little work to be a smooth read. Or, maybe it just needs a little more story... It is very short so it's hard to critique when you just get a taste and not enough to sink your teeth into. Hopefully, as the series develops the bumps will get smoothed out and we will get a better feel for the characters and the relationship between the club members. ...more

My love of rockstar romance lead me to this new author, Lisa Suzanne. I accidentally ran across the synopsis to Vintage and was very intrigued. It was my lucky day, because I really enjoyed this book and I'm very anxious to get my hands on the next book in the series.
Roxy starts out as a smart-mouthed badass who is just 'existing' day to day as she performs the tedious, repetitive, boring tasks of her job at Vintage. She's mastered folding t-shirts and alphabetizing CD's and finds comfort in the familiarity of those job duties. As they prepare to host a merchandise signing by a new band, Flashing Lights, she decides to play their album over the speakers in an effort to please the fans that are waiting in line to meet their idols.
Roxy had never heard their music before, but it caught her attention at first listen. There was something that she connected with, well, actually two things. First, it was the lyrics that seemed to say the things that she understood and felt herself. And, second, there was a voice that reached out to her. It wasn't the lead singer's voice, but another one in the background that called out to her. And when she ran into the body that belonged to the voice, well, let's just say there was instant chemistry. She let loose with her sass and her shrugs and for the first time in forever the numbness of her existence began to fade.
This was their first meeting, and I was already hooked. I felt 'connected' too and was excited to see what would happen between these two. I wanted to know if the sparks between them in the music store would be as explosive in the bedroom. Was he a bossy lover? Was he a dirty-talker? Did he have tattoos? If so, what were they and what did they mean? Does size really matter? Will he sing to her? Will he writes songs about her? Could they possible have a chance at more than a one-night-stand? Is he only interested in her because of her famous rock god father? How can she ever be sure if he wants her for her?
And those questions were just at the beginning. Wait until the suspense gets thrown into the mix and you'll be flippin' pages like a fool anxious to find out WTF? And you will get some of those answers, and be left with even more. Like, is Step-Barbie for real? Is Roxy in danger? Now that she's feeling again, who can she trust with those feelings? If nobody will tell Roxy what's going on, how the hell are we supposed to find out? I want an all-access-pass so I can do some of my own investigation into this mystery. I know, you are suspicious, right? You think I have ulterior motives for wanting to go backstage with a bunch of rockstars, huh? *shrugs*...more

She left me freaking out at the end of the last book and I've been chomping at the bit to get my hands on Fourth Debt. Yes, I knew I would be right back in the same place at the end of this one too. It's a given until we get the last debt, right? But it's just so damn good, I want immediate gratification. I want it NOW! And did I ever get it, more than my twisted mind could imagine. She always surprises me and takes things in a different direction than I expect. She doesn't write those predictable story lines that have you successfully guessing the ending halfway through. Nope, she keeps you in a constant state of WTF?
I knew before I started reading this installment that Nila's twin brother, Vaughn, had showed up. I was happy for her, but worried for him. There's not much I can tell you as far as details go, the beauty of reading this series is the surprises. It's the journey, the twists, the turns and the bottomless drops that keep us coming back for more, right? What I can tell you is the women rise up and brandish their badass in this story. Both the good and the bad, and sometimes it's hard to tell which is which. There are more secrets revealed, and more secrets withheld. The Stage has been on my TBR for a long time. I'd never read this author's work before, but the music competition focus really intrigued me. Yes, I admit I'm a huge The Voice fan. And I'm a rockstar romance addict. It was just too tempting to pass by. And I'm so glad I didn't pass. I loved it. And I'll most definitely be keeping my eye out for this author's future works.
Mia Phoenix is a survivor. She's trying to pull herself out of her pain and take care of business. She's 19 yrs old and has a 9 yr old little sister to raise, and a career that needs a jump-start so she can afford to do that. She doesn't want to share her past, but is forced to divulge some details in order to connect with the audience during the competition. With so much pressure and obligation weighing her down, she's relieved and outraged at the same time when help comes from an unexpected source. Temptation pulls her in as she fights to do what's right. Does she choose to break the rules? Or will keeping them break her?

This book was very interesting to me. All the behind the scenes details of the music competition and the industry negotiations. The media madness. The star shenanigans. The contestant back-stabbing. It was very entertaining and I devoured every page. And the last little tidbit I'll leave you with is that there is also suspense involved. Not everyone is happy with what's happening between the couple. There is danger lurking, ready to stop what's building between them. You'll find out who wins the competition, but the story is not over. The danger still lurks, and the future is murky. We'll need to move on to Phoenix Rising, #2 to find out if things turn out the way that we are hoping. The line forms here......more

While I enjoy serials, I think that authors risk some review points by writing them. Most times my ratings start out lower and increase as I get deeper into the story. It makes sense because we don't have all the information we need to make an educated decision with all the missing pieces. I'm becoming more and more intrigued as the story goes along, as more secrets are revealed, as the authors intentions become clearer. As I get to know the characters more my feelings about them become stronger, the love and the hate. There are some villains hiding out that will hopefully get what they deserve. Leo is so caught up in protecting his 'cara' that he is withholding the information that would actually give her some reassurance if she knew. He's taking his 'dominant responsibilities' very seriously, feeling that it's his 'job' to provide for all of her needs. Because she is unaware of his intentions and is only seeing the public side of his actions, she is misinterpreting his decisions. Well, at least that's my prediction. I don't really know his intentions because the author is torturing me along with Karin. She is making us suffer as we wait for the events to play out and the drama to unfold. I'm not sure what the other readers are feeling, but I'm enjoying the delicious anticipation of what will happen in and out of the bedroom as he draws it out, making us wait, knowing it will be worth it in the end. She even worries about me, insisting a take a nap when needed. I guess she knows about the book hangover I suffered from staying up all night immersed in her clubhouse shenanigans. I can't get enough of her random funny thoughts, her relationship with her sacred sisters, or her special bond with "Grandpa Guntz." He is always there to provide emotional support and when things get really rough, he knows just what to say to make her feel better, and his "suckers are magical." He is her designated 'babysitter' when Big goes on a "none of your fucking business run" he has no problem hangin' with the sisters during spa weekends or game nights. As always, even though we know how much Bink & Big care for each other, the road is never smooth. There are some very intense bumps in their path to a future together in this installment. Big is frustrated with her refusal to admit she loves him and she still won't agree to be his old lady in spite of the fact that he's already claimed her and everyone already considers her to be one. There are many issues in their past that she can't forget and they keep her from being able to completely let go of the doubts that she continues to have about Big. Can she really trust him and his 'big dick' to stay away from other bitches when they are apart? Get ready to laugh your ass off, to blush at their in-your-face non-stop sexual escapades, and to have a love/hate relationship with Big as he is sweet one moment and then totally fucks up the next. Has he gone too far this time? Can he convince Bink to give him another chance by proving that his heart is as big as his dick? I can't wait to read the next book in the MC Chronicles, it's called Big and it's from his POV. Jethro & Nila are both so damaged, so broken that there's no possible way to fix them. However; their broken pieces seem to fit together. No, I want to know, what the hell does Amare mean? I'm having fantasies of Sal talking in a sexy accent as he calls her that name...but I NEED to know what it means! And really, if you were being called that, wouldn't you want to know too? I have to say that Savage Fire flowed smoother, the dialogue was better, but it still needs some work. For one thing, every single character has a POV. And while I really enjoy reading multiple POV's because it lets me inside their heads, sometimes more than one person speaks within the same paragraph so it's hard to tell who's talking at any given time. However; the story itself is intriguing and kept me glued to my kindle, although I might have made a few faces as I read. I really enjoyed spending more time with the club members and finally making it to the clubhouse. I was introduced to some more characters that I enjoyed and I look forward to seeing them again in future books. While it wasn't a huge cliffy, we are left knowing there is more to come. I'm guessing that each book will focus on a particular club member and that we will get to spend more time with the ones that we've already been introduced to in previous books. Dane is a badass Prez and I really love his character, especially how he is so bossy with everyone, except Kat. I really, really like Kat. She is so fun and sassy. And we all know that she's the real boss, at least in the bedroom. Truth is fun too and I look forward to spending more time with him. And of course Judge who got my attention in the first book, his time will come, right? I'm enjoying this series and I can see it's improving as we go forward. There is a full-house of badass bikers that all have a story to share so hopefully it will just keep going on and on. ...more

It takes a few pages to figure out where she is and what's going on and how she ended up where she is. The author has a little fun with the readers letting us figure it out for ourselves as we go. Once I caught up with her current situation I couldn't wait for it to change. I have my own ideas about where I want this story to go and I'm hoping I get my way. Even if I don't, I'm having a hell of a good time during the ride. I noted that this book ends in a cliffy, but that's not entirely true since it's a series and we know going in that there are more volumes to come. Of course we are gonna get some answers now, and then we will have to wait for other events to resolve over time. My heart was broken when Bink left Big Dick, cuz you know, I really like Big Dick. I'm sure we all do, right? Well, anyway, he's not living in his happy place when he discovers she's gone. And if Big Dick ain't happy, nobody is happy. Thanks to her 'girls', Bink who is now Eva, gets reports from home letting her know what's going on. Well, at least she thinks she knows everything. It isn't until she finds out what's really been going on that she discovers there's been a little gap in the communication flow. And if Bink ain't happy, nobody is happy. I was visualizing the author events I've attended and the cover models that some of them brought. It was such an interesting idea I couldn't resist taking a chance on a debut novel. I really enjoyed the storyline and the badassery of Brentley. She cracked me up with some of the stuff that came out of her mouth, she made them up as she went along so you won't find them in the dictionary. I thought she was a little over the top with her foul mouthed rudeness when she first met Tryst, but apparently being used to women falling at his feet it was the right approach to get his attention. He couldn't understand what he had done to find himself on the receiving end of her verbal assault, but discovered that it really turned him on for some reason. He mentally dubbed her his 'Spitfire' and determined to find out who she was and get to know her better. From there we get a glimpse into Brentley's past and how she came to be a defensive recluse that leads with her mouth, feet, and fists. She doesn't even give Tristan a chance, pushing him away with her angry words and deadly kicks when he tries to approach her. He probably would have given up on her at that point if it hadn't been for the unexpected arrival of someone from her past that gave him a glimpse into the horror she was hiding. How could he turn his back on her after that? But how the hell was he supposed to get anywhere near her to change her mind? Get ready for a suspenseful ride that will stretch your imagination as you consider possibilities that will bend your mind and push your buttons. Get ready to resist the urge to hurl your Kindle when you read about a villain of the worst kind. Then, get ready to wait...for the next book in the series....more
