And that interaction?! Where do I start? It was just bizarre. Why she did what she did, made no sense to me. I found it very hard to believe. Are there women like that in the world? Absolutely, but it didn't match up with THIS character. It was so confusing.

I only got through a few pages, but "grumpy" is definitely not what I would call this guy. He literally said, "You saved my backside." DNF at 70%. I'm not new to MC novels, so I'm not overly sensitive to what usually happens in MC novels----however there's no FUCKING way there could EDNF at 70%. And I honestly can't respect Ava for even trying. At this point I dislike all the characters in this book and have no desire to finish. I can already see where it's going. Excluding my feelings on all of that though, it was still a miss for me. It seemed like there was a lot more goings on with the MC, than there was with the Smokey and Ava---like they were the afterthought to the story....more

It wasn't done well. The witty dialogue fell flat and wasn't funny or charming at all. And there were just too many people to take in. I pushed through only because I have enjoyed some of this author's books in the past and hoped it would get better. It really didn't. I feel ZERO heat between Joel and Finn and I have ZERO interest in them. Cutting this one loose!...more
