I can honestly, without a“Perhaps one day (...) there will be a safer time, when women could walk the Earth, shining bright with power, and yet live.”
I can honestly, without a doubt, say that this book was perfect to read during Women's History Month! From the 1600's to the 1800's to modern day, we got to witness three women dealing with the harshness and cruelty that women have endured at the hands of man. One accused of witchcraft, one (tw:rape) hurt by her own family, and another (tw:abuse) kept smothered underneath the hands of her "boyfriend."
This book doesn't dwell on these things, however, it focuses on how women have always endured during the hurt and pain that they've experienced. The book was so moving and so empowering, I will definitely be picking up the next one that this debut author chooses to write next!...more

You GUYSSSSSSS I absolutely love everything about this book. Miss Kate Clayborn came to SLAY and SLAY SHE DID.
Georgie is this cute and quirky character who has recently found herself without a job and has moved back home to spend time with her best friend, Bel, and to house-watch while her parents are away on vacation while she figures out what to do with her life from there. Honestly, I found myself relating to so much with Georgie - sometimes I don't know what I'm going to do with my life & backtracking and reflecting on goals that were important to me when I was younger always seems to help me regain my footing.
Enter Levi Fanning. The well-known bad boy and troublemaker of the town back in his high school days, has become the town hermit. My heart absolutely ached for Levi. I could not imagine NOT having a soft place to land in your family. I love how Georgie was able to pull him out of his shell all the while never losing sight of her main goal - figuring out who she was. These characters were so beautifully written, it was definitely hard to put this one down!

WOW. This book took me through so many plot twists - I was hooked from the beginning. This is my first mystery/thriller type book"I'm tired of lying."
WOW. This book took me through so many plot twists - I was hooked from the beginning. This is my first mystery/thriller type book & I feel like the author captivated everything a reader could want within these pages.
These characters were so relatable. I thought that I was 10 steps ahead the entire time, only to find out that the author ran laps ahead of me. I was afraid that the book would end in a cliché, but believe me when I say that you'd never see it coming.
All in all, this author's Adult Mystery debut was spot on & I can't wait to read more from her!...more

The book was so hard to get into at first, the beginning chapters just dragged on and I couldn’t really get a sense of the actual story. By the middle of the book, I absolutely hated the character. Her countless efforts to STAY wallowing in grief and not accept the help and advice from her family and friends was just not it for me. She came to be unbelievably ungrateful of all the efforts her family made to see that she wasn’t alone in her grief, angering me even further. Also, as an eldest sibling who also does what she can to protect her younger sibling, I hated how she treated her older sister, Gloria. I was absolutely heartbroken for the sister that tried everything in her power to rid her grief-stricken sibling of stresses/problems. And the ending of the book honestly feels so thrown together - the entire book felt like it was leading towards the moment she finally met with her MIL & the result was just trash.
I understand, and yet do not fully understand, that grief is messy. I know you cannot expect any person to magically be remedied in a certain amount of time. But the fact that this character realized how bad she had gotten, and did nothing to help herself was honestly the end of this book for me. Her family helped and provided countless resources for her, yet she found aggravating excuses to evade each and every one of them. This wasn’t the book for me....more
