Amy is such an incredible person! I am so glad I've gotten to know her and read her book. While this book is spiritualy profound and there is much food for thought, it also isn't so deep or heavy that you must reread each sentence to understand. The chapers are the perfect length for picking up the book to read here and there and I like that I can delve into questions and self-improvement at my own pace and leisure. My personal book has many, many dog eared pages that I want to review again. It's rare for me to have a book this marked for reference. I will say that even know I personally know the author (and this she is wonderful!) I usually dock books for poor editing or grammar. That is the only reason this book doesn't receive a solid four stars from me. ...more
I originally picked up this book solely because it came highly recommended by a good friend, whom I greatly admire. I truly did not expect to like it I originally picked up this book solely because it came highly recommended by a good friend, whom I greatly admire. I truly did not expect to like it or even get anything from it. I even thought I would prove Tuttle wrong (I mean, come on! Another "whisperer?" So cliché!) But I not only like this book, I love it, and I cannot prove Tuttle wrong about anything. I can honestly say this book has revolutionized my parenting in the most positive way. Has it completely transformed my life? Yes. Do I experience constant harmony with my children now? No. Am I a perfect parent now? No. Do I understand my children better and communicate with them with ways that strengthen our trust and relationship? Yes. I even understand other people better (my husband, siblings, parents) and approach relationships in what I feel is a more wholesome way. Ivan certainly understand reservations about what Tuttle is teaching; I had them myself. And while I still am not so sure about the facial profiling, everything else feels so right in my gut that I just can't recommend it enough. The parenting advise and help is exactly what I needed. If you want to understand your child better, read this book. If you want to be a better parent, read this book. If it seems kind of crazy at first, keep reading. It's not magic; it may not even be "science," but it works. ...more
