It was long and drawn out; Titus grew continuously more annoying as the book progressed; the focus on Suzanne's ability or lack thereof to prepare a decent meal grew monotonous; and the repetition of the same complaints by the all the characters was frustrating at best. It's a good story, but it is unnecessarily long. Also, if I were Suzanne, the whole "decision" Titus has to make at the end would make me reconsider any decisions I had previously made regarding him. Seriously, Titus?
Anyway, I liked it enough to read the next book but hope it isn't as drawn out as this one is. ...more

Hannah has to be one of the most infuriating protagonists I've long had the experience of reading about. She's selfish, prone to complaining, and definitely a "glass half-empty" kind of person. I was continuously frustrated with her lack of maturity and ability to think of anyone else's comforts or needs but her own. I think the thing that most frustrated me is it took until almost the end of the book before any positive changes took place in her character. Talk about bull-headed! I was often with Samuel in wondering why on earth Timothy married her in the first place. Hannah's mother is also incredibly frustrating and quite possibly the source of Hannah's selfishness.
I got a bit frustrated with Timothy as well. Communication and shows of empathy were obviously not his strongest characteristics. Many times I thought "Just talk to the girl! Don't expect her to read your mind!" However, his calmness and patience with Hannah were admirable.
The supporting characters were all so great. I loved each of them! Bonnie and Alan are a couple favorites and their little side story really drew me in. Also, the little twist with Ken and Trisha was a fun addition.

The entire premise of the story really draws you into the characters and the heartache and struggle they are going through. Wanda does a pretty good job of bringing you into Samuel's grief and Esther's feelings. This book progresses quicker than the first and the characters develop a little more. Also, I really like Bonnie and little Leon is a whippersnapper!
I love just how clean these stories are (makes sense; they're depicting the Amish way of life) and the ways you can learn about Amish culture through the stories. I find myself really enjoying the simplicity of their culture and the ways they work and converse together. ...more

It's a pretty basic story, but I still quite liked it. I also liked learning a little more about the Amish community and culture and was surprised by some of the things I found. I think I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a clean romance. I really liked Grant and appreciated his honesty.
Note: I read some reviews who said this book was "steamy" but I never got that impression at all. There is a romance, yes, but never anything inappropriate or explicit. In fact, I think the characters maintain a very clear boundary (view spoiler)[and they only cross it once for one kiss (hide spoiler)]. ...more
