I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book!
First of all, I appreciated that the very capable main character was older than me. AdditioI was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book!
First of all, I appreciated that the very capable main character was older than me. Additionally, I liked that the author didn’t assign the main character any of the cliché old lady ailments. It seems like every other book with a woman over 40 has her suffering frequent hot flashes. Do people think women constantly have hot flashes from age 40 until they die?
The main character’s group of friends were all unique, well-fleshed-out characters, again without falling into the clichés of old age.
The storyline was captivating, with just enough revealed as the story progressed, keeping me guessing until the very end.
This was the first book I’ve read from this author, but I will be exploring her older books as I eagerly await the next installment in this, what I’m guessing will be, an amazing series....more

Reading a predictable book feels safe, warm, comfortable... reading THIS book is like repeatedly having cold ice water thrown in your face!!! Ha, well, not nonstop ice water. He waits until you are feeling nice and comfortable and you think you know where things are heading then BAM!
Even though there are hundreds of characters and so many story lines going on that I have trouble keeping them all straight, this is so amazingly well written it is truly in a class by itself.
So, now I join the countless other readers waiting for book 6....more

This series started out great and just keeps getting better. I love the stories, the writing, the characters, and the unique perspective you get from This series started out great and just keeps getting better. I love the stories, the writing, the characters, and the unique perspective you get from these being set in Russia. I will miss visiting the world these books are set in! I also really enjoyed the movies based on these books....more
