Poi ne leggi un'altra ed è la tua di storia, con tutte le brutture, tutti i momenti cattivi, tutti i pensieri subito lasciati da parte perché fanno troppo male. Il tutto raccontato con uno stile semplice, secco e violento, che vuole ferirti a tutti i costi nel modo più cattivo possibile, come un volgare insulto in dialetto. E questa è solo l'infanzia. Ho paura e allo stesso tempo non vedo l'ora di leggere il resto della serie.

It è l'infanzia e gli amici che avrei voluto, It è il tipo di adulto che avrei voluto diventare e che un giorno, guardandomi indietro, spero di accorgermi di essere diventata; perché It, per me, è soprattutto Bill Denbrough - a dodici come a quasi quarant'anni - lanciato a rotta di collo in sella alla sua Silver per battere il diavolo, ed è un'immagine, questa, che non manca mai di darmi un po' di coraggio. Be true, be brave, stand. It è un libro sui mostri che ti insegna come ucciderli, come sopravvivergli, ma soprattutto come rialzarti dopo che ti hanno preso di nuovo. E ti ricorda che i mostri sono tanti, ovunque, e che alcuni sono solo più visibili di altri. It è quel genere di libro di cui si ha sempre bisogno, non importa in quale momento della tua vita lo leggi. Rileggerlo adesso per me è stata un'avventura del tutto diversa dal leggerlo a quattordici anni, e rileggerlo fra dieci anni sarà probabilmente ancora un'altra cosa.
