I didn't like Callie Penrose, Feathers and Fire series but I'm a huge Nate Temple fan and this book have many references scattered in it that ties it beautifully in with the Templeverse. Master Temple himself made a short appearance and that made me so curious to find the cause of Nate's panic. Callie and Huntress also showed up. All the tie ins made this book a lot more fun. Also I love Quinn! Shayne and Cameron's collaboration has made this an awesome Urban Fantasy....more
Well this was disappointing. I liked Alex and Shelby in Half of Ragnarok but in this book their characters felt superficial. I hated Shelby's family. Well this was disappointing. I liked Alex and Shelby in Half of Ragnarok but in this book their characters felt superficial. I hated Shelby's family. They were obnoxious. The whole Thirty Six Society came through as a brainless mercenaries who resented Alex in every way. The writing isn't good either. Long winded and confusing descriptions on Lycanthropy and a cast full of dislikable characters made this a very tedious read. ...more

Jillian pulled a copy of a magazine out of her back pocket and shoved it at Sonja. "Swear!" Chris Hemsworth was smiling seductively at Sonja from the cover of Men's Health. "Swear on the abs of Thor!"
Sonja and Will were great together. Sonja is a human with administrative superpowers and Will is a doctor Selkie who has unresolved family related issues. There's also Jillian and her hysterical pregnancy issues and the rift that is raising more problems for the residents of Mystic Bayou. It's another fun instalment with Molly Harper trademark sass and quirky characters. ...more

This was so much fun. I liked how this series is set in the world of The Temple Chronicles but it has a distinct feel of it's own. The problem I had wThis was so much fun. I liked how this series is set in the world of The Temple Chronicles but it has a distinct feel of it's own. The problem I had with another Shayne Silver series Feathers and Fire set in this same universe was that it felt a lot like TTC and the moment Nate Temple was introduced in the first book Unchained he took all the limelight. No other character could outshine Nate when he is in a scene and because of that I couldn't connect with Callie. She just felt flat in front of Nate's outrageousness. I am glad that Nate, even though I love him, didn't appeared in this book. He was mentioned a couple of times and that was enough. But I would love to see Quinn and Nate interact with each other at some point in the series since it's set in the same universe. I'm sure that would be very entertaining. Quinn do have a lot in common with Nate. She's outrageous kickass and brash. A thief who steals magical artifacts and I loved her Irish accent. Going to start the second book....more
Felt repetitive. Toby's estranged human daughter Gillian is missing, again. I hate how that poor child keep getting kidnaped even though she doesn't wFelt repetitive. Toby's estranged human daughter Gillian is missing, again. I hate how that poor child keep getting kidnaped even though she doesn't want to be part of faerie. Toby bleeds a lot, again. This time she is also concerned about Tybalt who is still suffering from what Toby's mother Amandine has done to him. And her ex fiance and his wife are accusing her for taking Gillian. So it turns out that the false queen is missing, again. At the end of the day Luidaeg saves everyone as she always do. What I most disliked was how the situation with Janet was handled. After taking so much away from Toby and being so malicious throughout the series the behavior of the characters didn't felt realistic. The novella featuring Luidaeg and Gillian was a nice addition to the world of fae. I wanted Toby to start fixing things for Simon instead I got this flimsy attempt of getting Giilian back in the folds of the Fae.
