There is2020 thoughts: I have read The Scorpio Races perhaps more than any other Stiefvater book and every single time, I get something new out of it. There is a palpable sense of mood in this book that make it one of the most immersive reading experiences I've ever had. Every single thing present in The Scorpio Races contributes to the bittersweet tone in a way that only Stiefvater can do.
This book is Stiefvater at her best (and I think she's pretty awesome). If you haven't read The Scorpio Races, I can't recommend it highly enough.
Initial 2015 Review: After finishing The Scorpio Races this morning, I spent a while thinking of other books whose setting is so vivid that it becomes a living entity in my mind. I can't think of one. The island of Thisby exists more clearly to me than I ever thought a setting could. It moves from being the backdrop of a story, to being part of one. I read this Graceling is a book that I have loved so deeply and for so long that there's just no way I could ever write an objective review about it. I read this book over and over as a teen and it's deeply shaped the type of fantasy novels I find myself drawn to the most. Katsa and Po are two of my all-time favorite characters -- each is strong in their own way without being annoyingly perfect.
This is a YA fantasy classic for a reason and if you haven't read it -- or like me, it's been a while -- I highly recommend giving Graceling a try.

Bardugo writes a page-turner that takes place in a wonderfully complex and imaginative fantasy world. I love the characters of Mal, Alina, and the Darkling -- all of which were complex -- and I can't wait to read the next book in the series....more
