I am confused as to how I feel about this book. So I gave it a middle ground 3 star rating. The first half of the book was slow starting, and dragged a little, but when it got going I really started to enjoy it. Then I started getting really angry over things some of the secondary characters were doing. Then the ending made me want to bash my kindle in with a hammer.
Sooooooo Yeahhhh like I said conflicting emotions. I loved Hayden. He was loyal, sexy, charming, street smart with just a touch of bad boy. Kenzie I liked but it took me a while to warm to her. She was very uptight and at times she would come off as a bit of a bitch. But as the book goes on and you see all the pressure and stress she has I could see where she was coming from. Then by the half way mark after she fell in love with Hayden she changed. She loosened up, pulled the stick out of her butt, started breaking rules and lived a little. Which I really liked. Kenzie and Hayden made a cute couple. They had major sexual tension and lots of passion when they got together. S.C. Stephens can write some very hot, yummy, sex scenes.
My biggest problem with this book was I hated Kenzie's dad, Keith, and Hookup. Those 3 asshats just kept ticking me off. Kenzie's Dad Jordan came off very selfish and uncaring. The things he did to Kenzie are unforgivable and I truly hated him. Keith and hookup were no better. The end of this book was kind of a shock to the system. I bet my mouth dropped open. Something happens that made me want to smash my kindle and add to that a ton of unfinished business and I am guessing there will be another book. Which of course I will be picking up because I have to know what happens.
Wind River Wrangler was an okay read but just wasn't my jam. I had two problems with this book that really kept me from connecting with the story. For one it was slow moving. I mean slowwwwww. I am good with a slow burn as long as it doesn't get boring and at times I got bored. It moved so slow I felt like I was standing still. For 2 this book was so overly descriptive it bogged down the book and caused some of the slow pace. Everything in this book was described in such over the top detail that it got repetitive and tedious. Roan and Shiloh were both likeable characters. They had good character development, but them, their relationship and the story plot got lost in the abundance of details dumped on the reader. At least for me. To give an example their first kiss went on for paragraphs just a kiss ......paragraphs. Or here is a little quote of their lunch.
She spooned the potato salad, the three-bean salad onto her plate. Roan had brought thinly sliced beef sandwiches with horseradish mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato on them for their main course.
Did we really need to know it was "thinly" slice beef with "horseradish mayonnaise", lettuce and tomato really? Here is other example of detail dumping when Shiloh sees a chandelier Roan made.
Roan had twined two different types of wood around the main center post of the chandelier. One wood was reddish colored. The other, a deeper gold color, even more so than the cedar wood itself. They twined like vines, perhaps, four of them around each arm, to the end of it, so that there was a red and gold color on every other arm. And within the twined pieces of wood were highly faceted colored glass in blue, crystal clear, and green colors placed tastefully here and there. As the sunlight shot through the area, the crystals sparkled, creating a breathtaking collage of color. A the end of each arm of the chandelier was a light hanging down from it. And surrounding the top of the light was a tent like wooden roof with the twine of the colorful wood flowing around it. She pressed her hands against her heart as she absorbed all that Roan had done to create this piece of incredible art that was fully functional. How long had it taken him to carve and make it? The details were so intricate and delicate. So feminine, as if honoring the beauty of women. Shiloh was sure he didn't consciously realize that, but as she looked around, there was decided balance between the hard angles of the masculine and the curves of the feminine.
Come on it's just too much. And the whole book reads like that. I can't even tell you how many times it was mentioned that she was a writer and him a member of the black ops. I felt my eyes start to glaze over a few times. So while I did like Roan and Shiloh. And I did like the plot the pace and the detail dumping caused me to disconnect from the story and lose interest.

Tempting Fate is the first book by Brinda Berry I have read and while it wasn't a bad read it didn't really do it for me either. It's the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone as I had no problem following the story. I don't know what it was about this book but it just fell flat on me. I didn't connect to the couple. Their relationship bored me and I felt no connection to them at all. I found both of them individually lackluster. I don't know what it was about the book that didn't work for me. I can't pin point anything that turned me off. I just didn't feel it. Nothing about it was bad or made me angry I just never got into it. And while this book didn't work for me, I would give the author another try.
The Replacement Bride the 2nd book in the Hope's Crossing series was very good. I enjoyed it more then I did the first book. Cynthia Woolf is one of my favorite Mail order bride authors. Her books always put a smile on my face. I liked both Jesse and Clare. I felt they both had a great connection. I liked that Clare had sass. I will say that This book did feel a little rushed and I don't know why. It was 278 pages but it flew by. I really liked getting to see where the couple from book one Sam and Jo are now and how things are going with them. I loved the ending. It was such a sweet epilogue, but would expect no less from Cynthia Woolf. She always delivers big with her HEA. This was a great read and I can't wait to read the next book Alex and Bella's story.
"Holy moly," Chelsea breathed, no longer appearing like she was about to laugh. "I want one. I want a George. Are there more like him in the mountains? Because we can close the store, fly to Colorado, and go George-shopping, only for me this time."-Chelsea
OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK! Gone Too Deep, the 3rd book in the Search and Rescue series was amazing! I don't even know were to start on all the awesome things about this book. While this book was easy to read as a standalone Katie Ruggle created such an exciting world that I am not done living it. So I will be going right to Amazon after I finish this review, buying all the other books in this series and starting from the beginning. And although I loved this book so much that I'm sure I will really enjoy the others as well, I doubt any of the other heroes will hold a candle to George.
George, George, George God but that man was a wet dream! George was this super tall, yummy, bearded, all alpha, non-talking, grunting, sexy mountain man. I spent the entire time I was reading this book swooning, awing, and yelling out "God he's so damn sexy". I loved every single thing about George there was nothing I would have changed. Nothing. He was perfect. Oh and he was a virgin. Never been kissed, never nothing. There was such a sweet and sexy innocent vulnerability to him that was so appealing and in no way took away from his manly alphaness(is that a word???). George is for sure being added to the top of my book boyfriend list.
Ellie was very sweet. She had a playfulness that was cute and goofy. I loved that she was smart. I hate stupid heroines that put themselves in danger, but Ellie was anything but. She had common sense but was still vulnerable and needed George. I also loved how loyal she was to her father. She didn't just dismiss him as crazy even though he had a metal illness. She loved and fought to help her father. It was too funny the way Ellie would interpret George's grunts and looks. She really got him and around her he was able to just be himself.
He grunted, and Ellie chose to interpret that as "Good morning, Ellie. Isn't it a lovely day?"-Ellie
Ellie and George's relationship was sweet and had an intensity that had me hanging on to every grunt and half smile. But them being together felt natural, like they were meant to be. Ellie only had eyes for George and he only had eyes for her. Experiencing all George's first with Ellie was beautiful. I was like a huge sap melting as he kissed and made love for the first time. His embarrassment, nervousness, growing confidence, and then smug satisfaction was damn sexy. I enjoyed watching George and Ellie fall in love. I enjoyed every single grunt, word, smile, and laugh that Ellie pulled out of George. It was cute the way George would pick her up all the time and carry her around like a little rag doll. I loved Lou, and Callum and Ellie's friend Chelsea. I also really liked Ellie's dad. My heart melted at Ellie at her father's relationship and his metal issues. I loved all the action and that ending. OMG that ending........ I was jumping up and down yelling OMG no way. Talk about a freakin "drive me crazy" cliffhanger. Thank God the cliffhanger was just about the plot and not the couple or I might have lost it, but now I have to wait to find out what happens next. While I wait I'm going back and reading the other books in this series. I would recommend this book to all my friends that love a little action with their love story, and sexy, alpha mountain men that only have eyes for one woman!
OMG this book was an emotional ride. I cried, I laughed, and I swooned. Damn this book worked me over. I have been waiting for Trip's book since I read the first book in this series Accidentally Hers, back in Oct 2015. I knew there was more to Trip then his playboy act and I wanted to see him shine. This book was everything I wanted and more! Better than the first book and that is saying something since I can still remember how much I love that book a year after reading it.
"Happy birthday, princess." He grinned, leaned closer to Kelsey, and practically purred in her ear. "Does the birthday girl want a kiss?" Yes. Her insides sprang to life like Mexican jumping beans, but she remained outwardly calm. "No, thanks. No telling where those lips have been in the past twenty-four hours."-Trip and Kelsey
Trip was so much more than what I expected. He was sexy of course he played the manwhore since book 1, but he was also sweet, caring, and protective. He had this vulnerable side that made me want to hold him and make everything better for him. Most of the time when I read the manwhore trope I don't really feel their reasoning behind their commitment phobia, but with Trip I could totally understand where he was coming from. I felt such empathy for him and the way he was raised. I loved Trip. I loved Kelsey too. She knew what she wanted and she went for it. She was sweet and sassy. She wore her heart on her sleeve but she was real and honest. I loved that she didn't settle for anything less than what her heart wanted.
"Beneath this whole playboy persona is a bit of a gentleman. Just a bit, of course. But it's in there. Once upon a time, your mom must've taught you how to treat a lady."-Kelsey
Their relationship was sweet, hot and heartbreaking at times. It felt real. I really cried at some of the things they went through. Then the next minute I was swooning at one of the sweetest scenes I have ever read. Trip really pulled out the Prince Charming and in the end he wowed me. Trip's dad I liked but I was surprised I liked Trip's half-brother Mason even though he was a jerk I could again empathize with the way he felt too. Although I wish he was less of a jerk to Trip. I wouldn't mind seeing Mason getting his own HEA. Kelsey's niece was adorable and added major cute points to this book. I loved seeing Avery and Grey again and getting caught up on their relationship. I also liked getting to see Em again. I really liked her from book 1 too and I hope Em's book is next. My only wish was that I would have got a deeper epilogue but that didn't take away from my love of this book. I'm so glad I got this book and I can't wait til the next one comes out.
"You take my breath away," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "I can only hope to be worthy of your kind heart."-Trip
I love the Vampires in America Series. I fell in love with it when Cyn and Raphael stole my heart back in 2014 when I bought book 1, and the series just keeps getting better. Lucifer the 11th book was so good I power read through it. I love the building story line of the European vampires trying to take over America. It's got me on pins and needles wondering what will happen next. Plus it lets me keep in touch with past couples as they join together to help each other keep America theirs. This book had two love stories in it. The big second chance love story of Lucifer and the long lost love of his life Eleanor. It also has the on going love story of Sophia vampire Lord of Canada and her Mate Colin who was kidnapped and tortured.
I loved getting to see Sophia and Colin again, but my heart broke over all they went through. I loved Lucifer and Eleanor's love story. I really enjoy second chance loves and they had a sweet one filled with passion and plenty of I love yous. Lucifer was charming, sexy, and really badass. Eleanor was loyal, brave, and kicked ass in her own right. They made a very cute couple. Something I really love about this series is not only do I get an amazing love story I get tons of action. The end of this book gave a idea of what's coming in the next book and I can't wait! Another great book in an awesome series.
Dex the first book in the Kinky Shine series was a really good read. I don't read many Rockstar romances because a ton of them have cheating and that is a huge pet peeve of mine. But when I saw Dex I was drawn to the cover. I liked the blurb and decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. I really enjoyed this book. I was also really surprised and happy to see there was not other woman drama or cheating in this book.
I really liked everyone in this book. I liked the main couple Dex and Harley. I liked the other band members, Harley's parents and I liked Del, Harley's best friend. Dex was the lead singer and song writer for the band Kinky Shine. Dex was a broody, sexy, asshole with charm and a ton of issues. Dex hasn't been with a woman at all in 2 years and hasn't had sex in 7 years. His issues made him endearing and I could totally understand his grumpy attitude. Harley was a cute blend of sassy and shy. A blogger for Music bands Harley is there to get Kinky Shine on social media. Harley and Dex have a strong connection from the start but because of Dex's issues he pushes her away.
I loved that only Harley got to Dex. That he only had eyes for her. It made her special and their relationship sweeter. I also loved how understanding and supportive Harley was to Dex. When he would get scared or upset and freak out. Harley was quick to forgive, but Dex was quick to say sorry too. Which in my book made him easier to forgive not that he ever did anything too awful. In this book we get to meet the other members of the band Maxen, Beckett, and Otis . I really liked Beck, Otis, and Maxen. They were all very different and charming in their own way. I felt the author did a great job of drawing me in as a reader and getting me invested in the other band members lives. Which makes me want to read all their books. Especially Beck's for some reason I really clicked with him. I believe Maxen's books is next to come out and I can't wait.
Well this is one of those books that I didn't love and I didn't hate. The book took a slower pace for the first 70%. The problem I had with this book is it never really drew me in. I never really felt a connection with the hero and heroine. James and Kate where okay but they were very superficial. I didn't really get to know them. James and Kate also seem a little too modern for them being back in WW2. I also didn't really feel their love. They didn't really has a ton of passion. I really didn't buy James' passion for Kate. He almost never made the first move and was always kinda like "No we shouldn't". I guess I expected him to be more alpha since he was a Brit spy and all. Kate was super forward for a woman back in the 1930/40s the way she kept hopping James.
"When you're done? Kate, what's got in to you?" She shrugged. "I'm not sure. The excitement, the near death experiences, maybe residual effects from that Inca drug. This adrenaline pumping through my body has got me feeling all randy and there's only one way I know to fix it." "You can't be serious." -James and Kate
The truth is I learned more about the Incas, their gods, and temples than I did about the main couple. The Inca part was fun and all but I would have liked a little more character and relationship development. Also I really didn't like the ending. It was more of a HFN than a HEA and it felt left up in the air. Are they going to be together? Just train together and then part again? Overall I enjoyed the treasure/scavenger hunt parts but the romance not so much.
Staking a Claim was an okay read for me. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. It started pretty slow for me took a while to get to any real relationship then it ended abruptly. Blake was a jerk for most of the book and Although I like me some jerks he didn't really have enough nice moments to balance it out. Sam I like but I felt like she should have stuck up for herself a little more. Blake would be a jerk and she would just get over it like it never happened. She would bounce right back after he would hurt her feelings like a boomerang. Both Blake and Sam did have their good points, but by the time I warmed to them and was looking forward to some real romance the story was over. HFN not HEA and no epilogue. I feel like it would have been a great story had it been longer. As it is it was decent book with very little drama. A nice quick, easy read. This is the first book I have read from Devon McKay but I liked it enough I would give her another shot.
Well this was a satisfactory read for me. Not bad but not great. The first half was pretty slow. It picked up a little after the half way mark but for the most part it was a slower pace read. There was a few cool wild west type gun fights to shake things up. I think the two major problems I had with this book are 1. It skips around weeks at a time with no clear timeline. That left me trying to figure out what was going on more than once and in general was just confusing. One minute they are eating dinner then it weeks later and it doesn't even say how many weeks later, then it's weeks later again. And it didn't just confuse the timeline it confused the plot and slowed it down. For instance Sawyer would be in his office thinking of Rose then in the next sentence he was at the ranch eating dinner weeks later and I was like what whoa how did we get here. 2. There is not much in the way of relationship development for 3/4s of the book. It was more like "The Days of Sawyer's Life" soap then a romance. I mean Sawyer was interesting, but I wanted love and romance. Although we readers do get some sweet moments the last 1/4 of the book I was looking for more. The couple were almost never together, didn't really speak a lot to each other and did their own things (Mainly Sawyer) then at the 1/4 mark they're in love and I didn't really feel that love because after 3/4s of a book, hundreds of pages I didn't really see how they had been around each other or talked to each other enough to have any feelings at all. It felt very superficial. I liked the secondary characters and I wouldn't mind reading Wyatt's book. Overall this book was an okay read and I would try this author again.
Protect Me, the 6th book in The Donovan Family series and the 3rd one I have read was pretty good but I liked the other two better. I felt this book was much slower then the other two books I read and there wasn't as much action. Although I never got bored I wish it would have flowed a little bit better. I like Mia a lot. Finn on the other hand didn't really wow me. He was just there. I guess standing next to yummy twin cops with sexy, protective, alpha personalities like Connor from book 4 and Quinn from book 2 Finn kinda fell flat. It also didn't help that it took him a little over 3 months to figure out that walking away from Mia was the biggest mistake of his life. I was glad that Mia was a strong female lead. She didn't take crap from no one and she handed out the sass. I loved that when Finn came back she didn't just throw herself into his arms and let him off the hook but made him work for it. I loved the parts with Rose and Pete! Overall an entertaining read, but Quinn's my favorite.
Watch Me the 2nd book in the The Donovan Family Series was a great read for me. Although my OCD was driving me crazy the whole read because I read book 4 first and I always read books in order so I had to keep telling myself it was a standalone. Which really it can be read as a standalone too. Like his twin Connor from book 4, Quinn was a yummy Detective. Men in uniforms nuff said!!
I think I loved Quinn a bit more. Quinn had a naughty side that I really liked. He also knew the moment he met Tessa that he wanted her and that they had a special connection. He went after her like a dog with a bone. He was so sweet and protective. I liked Tessa a lot which if I'm going to be honest shocked me because she could be a bit of a coward in the book. She had a really good reason and that probably helped. It also helped that she was very down to earth, likable, and didn't treat Quinn badly. They had a instant connection relationship and were inseparable. They had a ton of passion at times I think my glasses fogged up.
One of the things I love about this series and although they have some suspense in them they are still sweeter easy going reads. I can just sit back and enjoy the ride. Get a romantic love story, and fall in love with the whole Donovan family. There is a strong family bond in this book with the Donovans. There was this one moment with Quinn and his mom Rose that was so touching. I love the twins Quinn and Connor together. Yummy Twin cops * M-mmm* ! Great read and now I am off to read little sister Mia's book!
Damn this book was painful for me. Every minute torture! It took all my OCD willpower to get through with this book. Everything about this book rubbed me wrong Everything! I have only read a few books that have ever made me feel that way. I didn't like anything about this book at all. I found myself bored and or annoyed the whole book. I didn't like the hero. I didn't like the heroine. I didn't like the side characters. I didn't like the plot. I didn't like their relationship. I didn't like the writing style. I didn't like the dialogue. I didn't even like the sex in the book. I just didn't like anything.
I thought the Hero Nate was superficial, shallow and a coward. He had no depth of personality. I didn't like or connect to him. Never once did I warm up to him. The Heroine Faith was the worst. She hit ever nerve I have. She was immature, wishy washy, boring, and a huge major coward. Her fear was so over the top with no real reason for it. Yes her mom walked out but she was so OTT about it that it didn't make sense to me. I really wanted to smash her face at times. She was such a baby.
I just couldn't believe that both Nate and Faith were such cowards and cowardly behavior being my second biggest reading pet peeve just made for painful reading. I really came close to dnfing this book. I walked away twice, but of course stupid OCD pulled me back. God I didn't even like when he proposed to her towards the end. I was just rolling my eyes and praying for the end! Now I thank God it's over. I don't like giving one star ratings but when I can't think of one nice thing to say about a book when I can't think of one thing I even kinda liked it's the only rating I can honestly give.
Merry Cowboy Christmas, the 3rd book in the Lucky Penny Ranch Series, was a great read. Having read the other two books as well I am a real fan of this series and I feel really attached to all the characters. I fell in love with each of the Dawson Men as I read each of their love stories. And although Toby and Lizzy's story will always be my favorite, I really enjoyed Jud, and Fiona's love story.
Jud was just as sexy as his cousins Toby and Blake but he wasn't as wild. He was ready to have a family, put down roots. Not just with any woman he wanted the right woman. That woman was the fiery redheaded Logan sister that just came back home. Jud was sweet. He had such a big heart I just couldn't help but fall in love with him. From the way he fell in love and supported Fiona and her dreams to the way he went about helping an old man that treated his family like crap. He was hard working, smart, hot, and all heart. Jud was just an all around great hero. Fiona was sweet like the other Logan sisters, but she felt like she didn't really belong. Her sisters had their place, their jobs, what they were going to do in life, where they belong, and she wanted to fit in too. Like most redheads she had a bit of a cute temper and she could be sassy. She was also loving, loyal, and very smart.
I loved Jud and Fiona together. They didn't just have heat and passion, although they had plenty of that. They had a deep friendship too. I loved that this book took place at Christmas time. I am a sucker for Christmas romances. I watch the Hallmark channel Christmas movies almost religiously. So ate up the sweet Christmas time vibe this book gave off. I also enjoyed that fact that Truman and Dora June sweetened up a lot in this book, while still being believable. I will say that I wish Fiona hadn't been so wishy washy for so long, but then again I could understand it in a way. I also loved how it all worked out and the ending was super sweet. I seen at the end of the book that the next book coming is Wicked Cowboy Charm and that it's Deke and Josie (Jud's sister) Dawson's story. I can not wait ..... CAN'T WAIT ...to watch Deke be taken down. Deke with his wild ways going through women like they are water. I just can't wait to see love knock him on his butt! A great read. I would recommend It to anyone who loves Christmas romances and sexy cowboys!
What a cute, sexy read. Man I loved this book! From start to finish this book was entertaining , funny, and easy. I couldn't put down. I loved Austin. What a hero, he was sexy, sweet, the total package. When he showed he had a bit of kink in him I was melting. Damn but that man was sexy! Everything about him perfect. Lexi was amazing too. She was cute, endearing, and she could be a sexy little dirty girl too! I loved these two as a couple. I felt they had great chemistry. My God some of the sex scenes were smokin' hot.
"I'm a firm believer in sex therapy." Blood surged into his cock. "Yeah?" He hadn't been expecting this. "In cases like this, fellatio is particularly effective."- Lexi and Austin
There was this scene with handcuffs that had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. I loved that both Lexi and Austin were respectful and mature and didn't play games that caused over the top drama. I really didn't like Lexi's dad and step mom but in the end I felt they did a good job of starting to redeem themselves. This book has some great secondary characters that really made it stand out. I can already tell you who I am wanting to get their own book. I want Chaska, and Sasha to get a book. But OMG I am dying for Eric and Vic to get a book...... Please let their book be next I need it bad! The only reason this book didn't get 5 stars is It's missing an epilogue. I wanted an epilogue badly. I felt this book really needed that peek into their future. Overall I loved this book. I would recommend it to everyone and I can't wait til the next one comes out!
"I'm going to fuck you so long and hard you'll have trouble remembering a time when my cock wasn't inside you."-Austin
When I read the synopsis for this book I was so excited. It sounded so good. It had some of my favorite tropes. Brother's best friend, damaged sexy ex military men, and childhood crush. It also was something a little different with Allison being a Concert pianist that became a Certified Music Therapist to help heal veterans with PTSD. But it had something that I didn't expect and it just really killed my joy of this book....... the dreaded love triangle!
God I hate love triangles. Very rarely I can read a love triangle book and love it, but this is not one of those times. Sorry just sayin'! To be honest I truly believe if the author had left the triangle out of it and focused more on the hero Brodie and the heroine Ally's relationship and built up a stronger connection this would have been a powerful 5 stars read. But instead I got 3 way drama and very little relationship development making it hard for me to feel a strong connection to the couple. It also made their love feel superficial.
I do think the author did a great job of touching on the very important subject of post traumatic stress disorder the effects it has on soldiers and their families. I was really engrossed in that part of the book. I love the way she brought awareness to it. And I loved that it wasn't carelessly brushed over or made light of. Brett's part in the book was very touching and heart breaking. Not the best read but still okay. I would give this author another chance.
I don't know what it is about Cynthia Woolf but her books just do it for me. All her books seem to follow the same formula (Mail order bride, husband that is awesome but refuses to fall in love with new wife, something bad happens one of the MC is hurt and the husband realizes he loves wife, lots of babies HEA), but they all somehow feel uniquely different and never get boring.
Maybe I love her so much because she always gives me what I want. She is my happy zone. I know that when I pick up her books I will have a nice happy read. Whatever magic Cynthia Woolf weaves she did it again with The Stolen Bride. I loved this book. The start of the book really grabbed me. I loved both the hero and the heroine.
Isabella was great. She was strong willed, but sweet. She was very loving. She knew what she wanted and she went for it. She didn't throw fits and yell she but she didn't give up. I love how she was with her step daughters. But I especially loved how she was when she trouble arises. She was very brave but not stupid. I loved Alex too. He was a widower that loved his late wife and he fought his love for Isabella. He was sweet, and sexy but he did annoy me a little with his constant need to talk about his dead wife to Isabella and or compare the two. I got over my annoyance however when he tells Bella he loves her more and stronger then he ever loved his late wife.
The twin girls Vi and Rose were totally adorable and I loved when the family was together. I also really enjoyed the side love story of Bella's mom and dad. The bad guy in this one was creepier than in other books. I really hated him and was glad that he got his. The epilogue in this book was very sweet and gave me everything I want in a HEA. Their book was a entertaining, quick read that made me smile. I can't wait to pick up another CW book!
I really enjoyed To Have And To Hold. It was a very sweet, but at times heart-wrenching read. I loved Trina and Hunter. They drew me in right away. I was heart broken right along with them, when Hunter couldn't remember Trina or their life together. I went on a journey with them. I felt Hunter's fear of losing a year of his life, grieved with Trina, and rooted for their love the whole book. The only problem I had with this book was that it would switch from Hunter's POV to Trina's POV without warning. Then I would have to try to figure out who said or was thinking what. I really liked both Hunter's and Trina's daughters they gave cuteness to the story without taking it over. I loved the end it gave me the sweet HEA I crave. This book was a quick, touching read that give me a beautiful love story. This was my first time reading Serena Bell but it won't be my last.
"You're my accessory." As soon as she said that, she got a little giddy kick in her chest. She was enjoying the idea a little too much. "The arm candy." "I'm your arm candy?" "My trophy husband."-Lydia and Colton
Tough Luck Hero is the 6th book in the Copper Ridge series but it can be read as a standalone. This book was a very enjoyable read. I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing the heroine did towards the end that really made me mad. I have read a few book by Maisey Yates before and I really love her writing style and her sense of humor.
I liked both the hero and the heroine, but I liked the hero a little bit more. Lydia had some major scars and I can understand her fear of letting someone close to her. She was very determined, outgoing, and smart, but she kept everyone at arm's length. I liked Lydia but at the same time her cowardly tendencies really bugged me. There were a few times that she really frustrated me by constantly letting fear rule her and her relationship with Colton. A few times I wouldn't have minded shaking her really hard. Just sayin'! And then there was the thing she did towards the end that had me deducting a star from my rating (view spoiler)[ She tells Colton over and over again that she doesn't love him when he came to her and told her that he loved her. Then she turns around and leaves him standing there brokenhearted. Although she does come back a few hours later confesses her love for him in a big way and apologizes (hide spoiler)]
"Colton, I like you best with your zipper down and your mouth shut."-Lydia
"Yes," she said, "I'll beg. I'll do whatever you want. Just please." "Please, what?" Heat spread over her skin like a rash. "You know what." "Maybe I don't. Maybe I need you to tell me, peaches." "Now you're being a jerk," she said, gasping as he flicked his tongue over her clit. "Tell me what you want," he said, his mouth hovering just above her core. "I need to come, damn you." "Say please, Lydia." "Bastard." "Never," he responded. "I'm an upstanding citizen." -Lydia and Colton
Colton I really liked. He was definitely sexy, hard working and loyal. He was protective of his family. Giving up his dreams to take care of his sisters and mom. Both Colton and Lydia had an A typical personality. They both were all about control and responsible. They both had very similar characteristics. I liked that they had a kind of hate/love relationship. They were so full of passion they were either ripping each other's heads off or each other's clothes off. I liked all the side characters expect for Colton's ex thank God she was barely in the book. I really liked Colton's siblings. I think I'm going to go back and read their books too. Gage the runaway brother really intrigued me. This story had a nice pace, never got boring, and was very sweet. Most of the drama was dealing with the fact that got mcs didn't want to let their walls down and feel. The epilogue was perfect. Overall I really liked this book and I can't wait for Gage's book which I believe is next.
"Nothing about you is dumb, Lydia Carpenter. Don't play stupid now. You are my real wife. I married you, I sleep with you every night, I damn well love you. Tell me what isn't real about that?"-Colton
