I have this book on my TBR list like forever and I never got to it, until I found out it was turning into a TV series. That peeked my interest and wanted to see if the book was really worth the attention it received. “Killing Sarai” is not my style, but I loved it and soon became addicted to the story and the characters. They are so imperfect, so damaged, that you fall in love with them and their flaws. Sarai lived all her teenage life between gangsters and drug dealers. She was brought there by her mom and after she died, became the favorite of Javier, a notorious drug dealer that apparently fell in love with her. He also ran a very complex underground women traffic operation, and Sarai witnessed it all. During the years, she felt accustomed to this way of living, until her attention was caught by Victor, a mysterious man, that seemed to be American, just like her. Convinced that due to this he will help, she used him to escape, only to get caught in another web of danger, killing and life threatening events. Killing Sarai is destined to be a TV series, because it is actioned packed, and gives you a true addiction to the plot. Sarai is not your average heroine, because she is damaged, even if she wants to stay strong and pretend otherwise. Hostage without her will, used for her body, she coped with her situation and managed to believe that she will be ok. Even if Javier was treating her differently than the others, taking her to parties and giving her luxuries vs the other girls, Sarai is practically a sex slave. She has seen death, girls being beaten, raped, drugged and so on. When Victor appears, her instincts were to trust him and use him to escape. She did it, but the real journey began then, because everything changed for Sarai. When I looked at the title, I thought that „Killing Sarai” was about a murderer that wanted to kill the heroine, but now I know it runs deeper than that. When Sarai leaves with Victor, she stops being SARAI and becomes someone else, someone who has to cope with a new way of life, a new meaning, that apparently fist her well. She will enter Victors world and discover how much she belongs in it. I liked Victor as well, even if for a hero he is very cold and calculated, becoming an assassin from the early age of 9. He kills without asking questions and he was meant to kill Sarai as well, but he didn’t. Throughout the book we discover that this character has a lot of layers and ladies, you will swoon! I personally loved their connection, their moments, even if there were not a lot of steamy ones, but the build up is palpable and you feel the anticipation growing stronger. They really became a power couple and I look forward to reading the sequel, because I know things will progress even faster than in the first book. I totally recommend this book because it is really special, in a raw sort of way. It shows you the ugly part of life, where crimes and danger go hand in hand, and only the strong can survive. It tells a story about 2 people that meet under extreme circumstances and when something changes in them, they become an unstoppable force of nature. 5 stars! [image] ...more |

Anybody said Penelope and Vi?? Goodie!!!! When I hear this combination I know the book will rock and I am dying to get my hands on it. After Playboy Pilot, I knew that it will be difficult to read another book as good as it, but I tried to keep an open mind and see where it takes me. I named PP one of the best books of 2016 alongside with Carter's character, so Mr. Moneybags had a lot of work to do to impress me. It did, but it didn't.. I am not making much sense right? So, let's begin. Bianca is a very beautiful and successful reporter, who one day succeeds in getting the interview of her life. She will meet Dexter Truitt, a powerful business man, with a huge empire at his feet. On the day of the meeting, they will get stuck in the elevator and will have that instant click we romance seekers look for. Just that Bianca has this preconception about rich and handsome guys, that they are infatuated, full of themselves and don't care about normal people. When Dex hears that, he is reluctant to give Bianca his true identity and tries to blend in as a normal guy. But you know what they say about lying.. Soon Dex will be caught in a bunch of mess up situations, when he will literally be 2 persons at the same time. Will Bianca discover his lies? Who will she choose? The person that represents Dex and that will destroy everything she believed, or the normal guy that has all the qualities she thought were safe? The plot was amazing and quite original. I have never read anything like it and Penelope&Vi have a huge 5 stars for this thing. I was catchy, funny and so so romantic. BUT, I wanted more. I would really apreciate an opinion from persons who read it, because I'm curious to know if I'm being paranoid or right in this matter. The plot was rising beautifully up to a certain point when it was just FLAT until the last 15 % of the book. The begging and ending were exciting, kept you so wired up, but I expected in between to have something, to feel something, but it was not there. This is the main reason why the book got only 4 stars. It could have developed into something more and make me so aware about this couple. And it really was a shame because I wanted to see Dex work his ass off to get Bianca. Don't get me wrong, the guy put up a good fight, but it would have been fun to see him struggle some more:))) He was funny and really romantic, kind of charmed me off completely. The way he rediscovered himself, fought for his love, believed in his feelings, were very sweet and made me often swoon at his gestures. He kind of put Bianca in a dark corner, not making her stand out so much. But again, this is my opinion, so if I'm wrong, please correct me.. To end this, Mr. Moneybags is a romantic and hot story, with a very clever and original plot that will make you believe that no matter what, you have to be true to yourself. Don't try to be someone else, because YOU are always the most important and valuable person out there. 4 stars! I am so happy I've found this series and so thankful to J.M.Darhower for crafting these amazing characters which connected so effortlessly with my feelings. I loved every minute of this book and waited anxiously for the end, because I knew it will be something different and not the average HEA we romance lovers crave every time. "Grievous" is far more alert and complex than "Menace" because it settles another pace, with a lot of action and breathtaking moments. Our favorite heroes, Morgan and Lorenzo have a common goal now and they will face every danger possible to make it happen. Their connection is different now, more intense and deeper, and throughout the plot, you will see them evolve into something else, which will make you giggle big time. Morgan is in desperate search for her daughter, Sasha, and will have Lorenzo's help to do it. We will find out why she did all those things she did in "Menace" and everything will come in place nicely. She is one of the toughest heroines I have stumbled upon and like every minute of her interaction with Lorenzo, because her feelings were mirroring his. Having that kind of life, Morgan was never in love and this was as close as she's ever been to a man, emotionally speaking. I liked the way she handled her feelings for him, but always putting her daughter first. She was fierce, devoted and strong, really winning my admiration. She is not your average good and flawless heroine, but she really kicked ass in different situations, making her resilient and admirable. Lorenzo is not you typical hero, he is exactly the opposite, but despite that, you can't stop loving him. He was so funny and so atypical, blowing me away with his charms and unique personality. His obsession with Star Wars made me laugh so hard various times and his jokes were amazingly written. He was a bad ass and I loved him with Morgan. There was a scene at the end when he realises the magnitude of his feelings for her that made me gasp. It was fabulous and it shows you that even an extremely bad boy/murderer can be brought to his knees by love. The book was better than "Menace" because it had more OMG moments, more intense ones and more reveling scenes that just played with your mind. And as a plus, the relationship between the characters was more mature and interesting to follow, because you could feel their evolution and deeper connection. Truly recommend this series because it was awesome and different, with complex characters that were put in place by amazing plot and action. I am so happy I found this book considering the way I began the series. I enjoy very much the combination that K.C. brought us readers, a very exciting mix of action, love and humour and after reading several of her books, I just knew that this series will not be an exception. The first book was not of my liking and I hoped Sawyer will change my mind. Well, he did:) The book was not extraordinary, but it was better than the first one, seemed more normal if you get what I mean. The hero was not that exaggerated in actions and personality and I enjoyed Sawyer more than I did Jax. We all know Sawyer. He is gorgeous, funny, full of himself and overly narcisist. He served with Jax and Cade and lived the terrible experience of being held hostages and tortured. Now, he seems determined to start over and leave that nightmare behind. The moment he saw Grace, something inside him clicked and without even knowing it, he began to nurture feelings for her. Grace is terribly shy, guarded and with a tragic past that left a mark on her. She is constantly scared, afraid of loving someone and most of all, trusting another man. Of course Sawyer managed to earn her trust, although he did some mistakes in the meantime. What was important for Grace was to feel safe, and he did this all the way. He protected her, kept her safe and when the time came, proved that he loved her immensely. I have to admit I was smitten by Sawyer and his charming personality, even when I wanted to punch him sometimes. But even I trusted him, and I was convinced he will save the day and the girl. Not to mention teaching her some new things that will surely turn the temperature up.. even being able to cook a pie:)) I read this book with a constant smile upon my face, because the dialogues were so funny and inteligent and I just loved the chemistry this heroes had. I only gave it 4 stars because again like in the first book, it was kind of predictable and I just knew ahead that some things will happen. Maybe I just read a lot of book and I am familiar with various scenarios, but I just knew:) [image] For more reviews please check https://readwithloveblog.wordpress.com ...more |

Taking a break from my sweet and romantic books, I totally changed the pattern and began "Daughter of Smoke and Bone" by Laini Taylor, an unknown writer for me, although I read that she is really talented and delivers some awesome paranormal stories. So, my curiosity got the best of me and taking all this things into consideration, let the fun begin. And OMG it was awesome and I don't regret taking my time in enjoying this book, because it was one of the most complex and interesting stories I have ever read in terms of paranormal. Karou is our heroine, a very different type from what I am used to, because she is far from fragile and defenseless. She is strong, witty and very mysterious. Everything about her is not clear, beginning with her past, looks and ending with her friends. Her hair grows blue, she draws strange and out of this world creatures that she knows from childhood. She is very guarded as a person, never letting someone in, never letting them see her true side. Even if she is all of this things, her world is very peaceful. She was raised by her friends -chimaeras- that are ever present in her drawings and despite that everything can be very strange looking from outside, she is actually happy and has the closest place to home. Although having all of this, she is full with questions regarding her past. She feels like she doesn't belong in this world and is searching for answers that don't come easily. Nobody knows that she can make wishes that come true, that she can travel by portals in all the corners of the world and that her friends are part human, part animals, part demons, that can talk and create the same kind of magic she does. Everything is kind of in a daze, because she can't discover herself if she doesn't know what or who she is. But one day, while running an errand, her world will be turned upside down. Enter Akiva, an angel, a soldier, a demon hunter. He fought all his life against dark magic and demons and when he sees Karou, he has the impulse of killing her because of the bonds she has with her demon friends. But in the same time, the connection he felt with her is impressive and inexplicable. Reason says she is the enemy, but his heart tells him otherwise. Because of this conflicted feelings, Akiva will be drawn to Karou and their paths will be more alike than they want to realise. Akiva was a very conflicted hero for me, but did justice to Karou. Being a strong heroine, she needed somebody to match her and I think Akiva did a good job. A soldier all his life, he had seen so many battles, blood and dead people, that he almost lost count. He was like a robot, without a purpose, only to respect the natural laws that guvernate his land. Seeing Karou for the first time was a very impressive experience for him and she was branded into his brain, without any chance of letting go. He felt the need to be besides her, even if from a distance, and soon he will begin to feel something that was long forgotten by him: love. The book was very complex and I have to admit that Laini really made me struggle a bit with her penmanship. I imagined myself being in a La Fointaine fable, with animals of different shape and sizes that could do extraordinary things. The descriptions were so detailed, so precise and inserted you in the moment and made you part of the action. The way the dialogues were shaped was very different from what I have read before, because apparently not all the words connected at first sight, but once having the big picture, you were shocked by how great this association was. She is really talented and this different approach intrigued me and kept me going, even if there were parts of the book I considered difficult to asimilate. The twist and turns and socking moments were all over this book and every turn of the page will guide you through a new revelation or important moment. So, in the end, I can totally recommend this book because of the unique style of writing and describing the action and because of the beautiful way the characters were created. This idea of forbidden is very intriguing for me and I just couldn't wait to see at how extend their love for each other will go, in order to have the possibility of living it happily. I am really looking forward to reading the next book, because I have many questions to be answered. 4 beautiful stars! My first Mafia Romance was "By Any Other Name". I loved every minute of it, and even if it didn't have soft and fluffy love, it had this mix of passion, violence and love which for me was a discovery. I don't have a very rich culture in this type of books, but I believe Darhower's books are the best:) The action is breathtaking, the heroes are amazingly crafted and the heroines kick ass:) "Menace" is the first book in the Scarlet Scars series and I love it deeply, 80% of my feelings being generated by the characters. Darhower's style is intriguing and the fact that you acknowledge the characters as being completely crazy but still love them to bits it's something to think about :) Lorenzo "Scar" Gambini is the hero of this story, a very particular character to say the least. Others see him as cold, calculated, a criminal with no heart and feelings, but apparently he is only bored. He is waiting for somebody to make him feel alive, to make him feel something, but nobody crossed his path.. He owns different business, he does weapons and alcohol traffic, the kills without blinking, but he never fell in love. He believes he doesn't have it in him to wake those feelings inside, but as you know it by now, never say never:) Morgan will be the one to ignite something in him, something that is not very gentle at the beginning, but their similarities will make her and Lorenzo spend a lot of time together. She is running from her past, hiding from something, but in the same time, she is willing to do anything to recover something that was hers. She is willing to sell her body, her soul, to bring it back and as time passes, she realizes Lorenzo might help her in the proces. She is feisty, stubborn and not afraid to conform Lorenzo and give him her piece of mind. She can't be controlled and I liked that about her. Even if sometimes I thought that she needs to be more human, considering the events she went through, it can be understandable. Their relationship can be defined only by "crazy". They are 2 similar personalities that are drawn together by some invisible force called attraction. Even if at the beginning they fight a lot (psychically even), they have this weird fetish of transforming anger in passion, which leads to a lot of sex scenes. Their dialogues are hilarious and so intelligent, and I think I called them crazy hundreds of times, but still love them so. This is a slow burn love story, coming from 2 complicated characters that don't believe they have it in them to love. They will be consumed by passion, anger, hate and revenge, but everything will come around and prove them wrong. They will become a great time and I loved their dynamics. The amazing story and characters are mixed with a awesome plot, intelligent and breathtaking. There are some chapters that really messed with my head, making me believe other things and after that scrambling all my scenarios. You literally change your whole perspective at the last word of the book. Totally recommend it and as we speak I begin book 2:) ...more |

I have a silly smile upon my face every time I go to bed and open the damn book, like I'm 10..I loved "Corrupt" because it managed to get me out of my comfort zone and until them I didn't realise how interesting Dark Romance might actually be. When you say "Hideaway" you say automatically KAI!!!!! Kai Mori, one of the 4 Horsemen, Michael's friend that intrigued us with his charming but mysterious personality, the most normal of them all:))) Ahhh, and not the mention one of the main characters from the sauna scene... hi hi hi. Although "Corrupt" felt more darker and more twisted than this one, "Hideaway" puts up a good fight as well. With Damon missing, the guys are Rika are aware of the danger that lies ahead, mainly because Damon has serious issues and will want revenge. After what happened in the first book, no one is safe and with the approach of Devil's Night, they are certain bad things will happen. When you put in the mix, Banks, a simple girl that managed to get Kai's attention, things will get very complicated. Loyalties are strong, hidden agendas put lives in danger and time is running out. Kai Mori is a very guarded and mysterious characters, not letting anyone know his true nature, not ever his friends, with who he shares so much. After being in prison in "Corrupt", Kai felt that his family honor was spotted and his remorse is terrible. Running a business of his own, he is very discrete, non fazed and impossible to read. I got to know him from the first book and I liked that he was more compassionate, more willing to forget and start over. The lack of love and understanding made him do some terrible things, but he is back on track. Back on track only for a while, because he was this undying connection with Banks, a mysterious girl that wears boy clothes and seems to have a connection to Damon and his family. He will not know for a while what this might be, and in the meantime, he will fell hard for her, having to fight his feelings and the sense of duty he has of stopping Damon. The relationship between this 2 was extremely complicated and with up and downs. As a reader you are very confused and don't know if next they will tear each others clothes off or kill each other. They were constantly on the run, fighting, arguing, hurting each other but also having some confusing and tender moments. The plot shifts from Past to Present, where we could see how Kai's obsession for Banks began, what are her ties to Damon and why is she loyal to him. I liked this changes, making me more aware of the whole picture and background of the characters. I was not a particular fan of Banks.. I liked her, but her obsession and twits in action made me not trust her completely. She kicked ass sometimes, but there were times when I wanted to shake her badly and make her realise some damn obvious things. Without spoilers, as we got the sauna scene in "Corrupt", we also have a WTF scene here, even more original as the first one, that will truly make you read it over and over again. I enjoyed the balance between passion and danger, but the level of adrenaline was not as in "Corrupt". It was present, but not something to make you uncomfortable or blush.. It was a complex book, with complex character, but it had that little thing missing from developing to jaw dropping awesomeness. 4 stars :) [image] For more reviews please check https://readwithloveblog.wordpress.com ...more |

Girls, if you don't have a Gabriel Scott please put up an add and look for one! This is my second Kristen Callihan book and I think I found a new favor Girls, if you don't have a Gabriel Scott please put up an add and look for one! This is my second Kristen Callihan book and I think I found a new favorite. After reading Killian's story everybody told me that Gabriel's will be so much better, with more drama, steamier scenes and a more delicious package. Well thank you so much, everyone was right!!! Gabriel and Sophie meet on a plane, during one hell of a bumpy ride. Sophie seat is changed to VIP, next to Gabriel's, leaving them to cope with each other during the flight. Gabriel is not comfortable with her presence, because as you may already found out about him, he is extremely guarded and doesn't like anybody's company. Especially Sophie's that talks a lot and speaks her mind. That flight will be the beginning of something new for both of them. Destiny will bring them together, Sophie being in charge of social media advertising for Kill John, the band that Gabriel manages. They will have to work together and figure out how to be productive while trying to keep their hands off each other. I don't know with which character to start first. Let's begin with Sophie! She was amazing. I love independent, strong and chatty heroines, nevertheless those who are sincere and speak their mind even if that might hurts other. She was the living figure of sincerity, beginning with telling Gabriel from the first place that she was attracted to him, to telling him in the face when he is being an ass. I wish I could be the same in real life. Even if in the past Sophie did some bad choices, with her new job for Kill John she was ready to redeem herself and in the process find people she could love and love her back. The band became her family and soon they saw her the same. Gabriel was such a thought cookie to crack. As you read in "IDOL" Gabriel Scott is a stone figure of a perfect man, flawless features and zero feelings. Everything he does is for the benefit of the band, without being emotional involved in anything. Everything goes by the book, zero feelings and implication. At the end of the day, his heart is sheltered from hurt and disappointment and he can managed to control everything around. Until he meets Sophie. Being so different from him, she enters his world by storm, but that personality is what makes him change. His control begins to crumble and he will allow himself to feel vulnerable and say "I Love You"! It will be a hard and long battle, but the end will be worth it. Their relationship was amazing. A slowly and dying burn, but as I said before, it was worth it. I loved how different they were, but such a good match! Fire and ice if I can say in a formal way. I loved exploring Gabriel in his relationship with Sophie, the way he slowly changes and enables us to see a softer and romantic side of him. There were moments when I was so sorry for him, because of his childhood and marks that affected him, but I knew this transition was necessary in order for him to change and accept love in his life. The dialogues between the 2 of them were amazing: funny as hell and so well structured and hot and steamy when the situation was up to it. I truly enjoyed this book and absorbed every page. It was a funny and delicious ride, about 2 people that meet under funny circumstances, but in the end find their way to each other. Both Gabriel and Sophie were amazing and I enjoyed seeing the band together again, doing their traditional shenanigans that made me laugh so much my cheeks hurt. Finally the series is complet and I am blown away! I am not surprised in the least, because I loved everything about it from second 1 until the end. This is definitely one of my favorite series and I want to kiss myself for taking the decision to read it and to not have breaks them, because they are a fully and amazing adventure. You must read them continuously, because the plot is very complex and if you change the book, you might forget some very interesting aspects. My point is that I adored this series and the impact it had upon me was huge. Not wanting to have a reading slump, I will dive right into another book, but I will think about "The Covenant" for a long time. So, Alex is the freaking Apollyon with a freaking mission. She has to transfer Seth's power into her, become the God Killer, kill the evil God and after that, face the consequences. The book was extremely dynamic, with a lot of heavy moments, but also emotional and steamy ones. You never know where the story will progress, how it is going to turn out and Jennifer killed me in "Sentinel" because the last 5 % of the book were painful, full of emotions and unpredictability. I KNOW I forgot to breathe at some point. And not to spoil something, but Seth will be actively involved in this book, for those who love him and wished a different outcome for him. There is still hope, Alex was right:) Alex was soooooo bad ass and I will never forget her as a heroine. She was unique, her style, her courage and her spirit were amazing, a true example for all of us. I don't want to enter in many details about Aiden, because he easily made the Top Book Boyfriends of all time and maybe the revelation of this year. This couple was amazing, the intensity between them was OFF THE CHARTS and you could feel their love, their connection, their meaning to be together. Even the scenes between them that were not extremely explicit, left you gasping and blushing, because they were so good and full of energy. I could spend hours talking about them and the series, but seriously, read it and you will love it as much as I did. The final chapter was different and from my POV very original and not as I have imagined it. I know it will leave you in a 50-50 position, not knowing which side to choose... love it or be confused? I chose both of them, because after the various adventures, twists and problems this characters had to face, you couldn't believe the ending will bring total closure right? You know the dots from "The End...", well, they describe perfectly this book, like a "To Be Continued", because out characters will be with us soon. Believe me, it is very hard to cope with the idea that this series has ended.. I will miss them terribly, but for those who want to read more about this amazing characters, read "The Titans"series, a spin-off, that centers Seth and Apollo's daughter, Jodie. Plus, you will have some awesome surprises in stored. 5 stars!! [image] For more reviews please check https://readwithloveblog.wordpress.com ...more |

I swear to God.. If I would have read “My Seth” one more time, I would have hurt someone, mainly Alex!!!!!! “Apollyon” took the series to a whole other level, darker and stronger and you just have a difficult time figuring out your favorite book from the series. It is a very hard task because all of them are amazing and beautifully written, with major events going on and with characters evolving each chapter. As the title spoils, Alex is the Apollyon now, connected entirely and irevocably with Seth. The first part of the book was extremely annoying and again, I wanted to punch her in the face for being so blind and stupid!! I had faith that the real Alex will come back to us and Aiden, because Jennifer doesn’t have the heart to torment us long. Things settle at a certain point, but after that everything comes back around and the adventure continues, only this time stronger and more intense. A lot of things will be put together and our team will figure out that they have a greater enemy, with a higher purpose and more dangerous than the “Seth and Lucian” duo. “Intense” is the word to describe this book. The events had a more meaningful impact on the readers, the feelings were raw and the way it was transferred to us was overwhelming. There were a lot of parts in the book which I’ve read without breathing. How does Jennifer does it, I don’t know…. But not only without breathing, I was fascinated by the style and the emotion I’ve felt:) Speaking of intense, this word can be used to describe Aiden and Alex, because I love them and I know they will stick with me a long time from now on. They took their relationship to a whole different level, and sincerely, I don’t think that “love” is enough to make a proper characterization. What they have is above love and connection, they were amazing and so bonded by a feeling that can’t be described in words. Aiden will be 100% on display now, his feelings out in the open and willing to sacrifice everything for the one he loves. Alex, on the other hand, feels the same, but she will do some mistakes because she is overly protective and such a martyr sometimes. She blames her so much for the hurt or loss of her loved ones, but she will learn to live the moment and fight for everything she believes in. I don’t think that I could ever get tired of writing about this series because it is definitely one of the best I’ve read so far.. not only this year, but from always:) I also bought them paperbacks because I just have to get them shinning on my bookshelves. Everything is amazing and dynamic, very well researched and connected. Not all is exposed because Jennifer is giving you pieces to put together, but the outcome is FANTASTIC. I am truly fascinated. Love it:) 5 stars!! [image] For more reviews please check https://readwithloveblog.wordpress.com ...more |

This is my favorite book so far, I just loved it top to bottom and I've read it with amazing speed, because its THAT addictive. I loved every second of it and consider it the best in action and twist of events. "Deity" begins in a low pace, but after that, the action builds up and makes you gasp every step of the way. Alex is months away from Awakening and this means she has to be ready for the danger that may come. Her connection with Seth is stronger than ever and her confusion is getting the best of her. She began to care about him but in the same time she doesn't trust him, not knowing exactly what his true intentions are. She finds out certain things about him, but as you know Alex, she believes Seth can be saved. To put it worst, somebody is trying to kill her and she will have to be heavily guarded in order to stay safe. All the book is centered on the days until her Awakening and how will she act and feel upon it. Alex is a different character now, letting aside her temper and personality that were untouched, but she is more focused, more mature and more willing to take chances for the things she loves. I have to admit, I like her a lot, considering her very atypical and extremely funny. She knows how to be vulnerable, but also very feisty and straightforward. She is very afraid of becoming an Apollyon and will do anything necessary to use her powers in a good manner. Aiden!! Aiden!! Aiden!!! Wow, he definitely has a place in my Book Boyfriends Top.. I loved him in this book and I wanted to tell him "IT WAS ABOUT TIME" !!! Aiden personality and intentions shifted dramatically in "Deity" after a certain chain of events. You will see for yourself and consider this happenings positive for our couple. His tender and nurture side will be mostly present, his wall completely down and willing to love Alex against all rules. He will fight for her and prove to us what we already knew from the beginning, that he's a terrific hero. With Seth I'm in the "No comment" area because there is not much to say about..I don't like him and I hope Alex will show him the right path. I have faith that she will succeed, because the situation in which they are right now really sucks:) The book was amazing and I liked the construction of it tremendously. It had every ingredient necessary to keep you alert 100%. The characters evolved in a normal pace, some predictable, some not, but they were a whole and everyone had with purpose. The romantic scenes were incredibly written, Jennifer giving the right amount of love and steaminess for them not to be very descriptive, but for you to understand exactly the message and connect with it immediately. It was the perfect mixture and this one had more OMG moments and scenes where you were left dizzy and wanting for more. Here you will find all the answers you'll be waiting for and your suspicions will maybe become reality. Next is "Apollyon".. Only 2 more books to go:( 5 stars! My thirst for other than sweet romance stories is unstoppable now and I found just the right books to quench it:) “Half-Blood” is the first book from “The Covenant” series and I loved it!!!!! I like Jennifer very much, discovering her in the “Wait for Me” series, then “Lux”, “Titans” and now this one. If you want the same ingredients as the previous ones, love, action, drama, feisty heroines and adorable heroes, this is your chance to experience it:) The plot of the book begins with Alexandria Andros and her mon running away from the Covenant, an institute in which they lived all of their lives. Alex is a half-blood, born from the union of a God and her mortal mother. They have been running away from 3 years, but now, Alex’s mom was killed by their mortal enemies, the daemon, and has to return to the Covenant. Full of grief, she must find a way to be accepted again and to fulfil her dream of becoming a Sentinel. But after the little escape she pulled with her mom, she is threaten by a life of servitude instead of one that she desires. Given a second chance, Alex has to be trained within 3 months to demonstrate she is able to keep up with others in combat, to fight against the daemons. She will be helped by pure-blood Aiden St.Delphi and will get in a lot of trouble in the meantime. When laws are broken and feelings arise, Alex must find a way to do the right thing and to stop people from getting killed. Alex didn’t impressed me big time, I liked her as a heroine and considering her age and happenings, she turned out ok for me. Her temper and unpredictability here kind of annoying and there were times when I wanted to shake her up and get some sense into her. I liked that she was determined but yet vulnerable, funny with her sarcastic jokes and very much alive as Aiden had the courtesy of saying. Losing her mom left a huge whole that needed filling and this aggressiveness of her will come from wanting to defend her memory. If Alex didn’t impress, Aiden did. He is one of the most well trained Sentinels from the Covenant and volunteered to train Alex in short time for her to be ready for the final test. He knows her temper and how easy can be not to succed, but he saw something in her that was worth it. Aiden lost his parents to daemons as a young boy and had to take care of his baby brother. He didn’t have a normal childhood, he only trained and fought alongside his comrades. The connection he felt with Alex was almost instant and he will fight hard to not obey it, to stay away from her and not fall in love. Doing that will be extremely difficult, but Aiden is putting duty and Alex first, letting his feelings aside. Even if we will witness some steamy moments between the two of them, it will only be the beginning of something forever lasting. I made a terrible mistake reading “The Titans” before “The Covenant” but likely, I did it a year ago and some aspects were forgotten, not to mention that Jennifer didn’t spoil very much from “The Covenant” leaving you to enjoy the series even if you were wrong on the order. It is action packed, dynamical and very well written. The humour is there, the mystery and OMG moments are present and the romance is to die for. And oh, not to mention, Seth has nothing on Aiden. I mean, Seth didn’t impressed me much in Titans, but reading now about Aiden and seeing how much I loved him even by the half of the book, I know now who I was waiting for. Looking forward to book 2, I am going to read the series without breaks or other books between. What an amazing series the Covenant isJ I am really excited about every book which I read and it became sort of an addiction, because I literally can’t stop reading it. Jennifer is amazing and this ability of hers to mix romance with action and a dynamic plot is killing me!! “Pure” is the second book from the Covenant series and although it was not as good as the first one, it had its moments of greatness that were fantastic and breath-taking, not to mention that I love Alex and Aiden as a couple :) Alex is dealing with her “second Apollyon” status and this implies having Seth all around her kind like 24/7. Not to mention that his flirty ways are beginning to have an effect on her and because of this, Alex is very uncertain about her feelings. One moment she wants to punch him and the next she is very attracted to him. The bond that they share is scary and uncontrollable and she is months from Awakening, things that scares her off her mind. In her personal life things are not getting better, Aiden is still fighting his feelings for her and this is killing her because she knows something is there, she can feel it, but the rule that Pures and Halfs are not allowed to love each other is keeping them apart. Tragic things will happen, that will change Alex irrevocably and many will see her as a threat, something that has to be terminated before it is too late. The plot was not sooo dynamic as the first book, there were certain moments when I felt very enraptured in the plot and couldn’t breathe, but those were kind of scattered ( I can name max. 3 great moments). This book was more for exploring and figuring things out, not very alert, but deep. Alex is a whirlwind, a twister in feelings and actions, she made me laugh, made me so mad at her, but at the end of the day, she had the right to make mistakes, because as you know, nobody is perfect. In “Pure” she will face a lot and will lose people she loves, but this ability to go forward, to rise, was amazing. She is very strong and I enjoyed seeing her in her tops and lows moments. There is definitely an evolution there, it is palpable and anyone can see it. She is afraid of what she will become, but in her way, she’s finding the way to cope with it. Her forbidden love for Aiden and her attraction and uncertainties towards Seth make her human, but also confuses the Hell out of you. She is really unpredictable, like a storm changing its course constantly, but I like her, I liked that spark and consider her not a typical heroine. Even if I read “Titans” first, I wasn’t feeling the connection with Seth and I believed that once reading “Covenant” my opinion will change, but guess what? It didn’t :) I am Team Aiden all the way, even if Seth is greater, more powerful yada yada. I don’t trust him, not feeling anything he says and I just want him far from Alex. Now Aiden here is another story, I liked him like instantly, but in this book I really feel like punching him. Why follow the rules Aiden when you love Alex??? I wanted him to take some courage from Alex and just finish already what we know is unavoidable. In “Pure” he is more distant from Alex, more keen on doing the right thing, even if this means confusing her with mix signals and making he choose Seth attention as plan B. By the end of the book Aiden will do something that shocks all of us, but made me love him more, seeing that his wall can be cracked, because at the end of the day, love is always first. I have a feeling that in the third book, his attitude will be totally different towards Alex and finally we will see him take some action and man up, even if he knows it is against the rules. So, a good book, it could have been better, but I love the series and I will consider it as a whole. Take this as a transition book, that will lead to amazing things in Deity, the third one. A very addictive series, which I highly recommend it to all of you:) 4 stars! [image] For more reviews please check https://readwithloveblog.wordpress.com ...more |

The Forbidden Men Series is one of my all time favorites and after reading 8 books, why not read the 9th one right? Especially after hearing that the hero is going to be Colton, Brandt's little brother. Oh, I feel like Colton grew up in front of my eyes and I can't believe he is finally old enough to have his story and find his HEA (yeee). His lady is Juliana, Brand't colleague that had a crush on him in Priceless. We all know that is was only one sided, because Brandt loved Sarah and was only meant to be with her. But Juliana's crush lingered and became like a mini obsession, something that was forbidden for her. The book begins with Brandt and Sarah's wedding reception, when all the family is reunited and having a blast. All of them besides Juliana, which is miserable seeing Brandt married to somebody else. Colton is brought in the picture as a distraction, making Juliana not stare at Brandt any more and make things uncomfortable.. Well, that will be a trigger point for the 2 of them, because some pretty interesting things happen that night, that will make Juliana reflect on her feelings and realize her crush for Brandt was nowhere near as intense as the feelings she is developing for Colton. The plot is not as complex as in the other books, but you have certain aspects that make you reflect on life as such. The most important one is the awareness it brings to interracial relationships and the way it is treated in the book. Personally, this was my first love story between a black woman and a white man, and I loved every minute of it. I connected to Juliana very much on her disbelieves and fears regarding her apparel, the way she wanted to seem perfect in order to not seem fragile and out of place. Appearances were everything to her, because in that way she felt safe, not criticized and could go on living a normal life, in a society that condemns you for your skin color. Colton was the opposite of Juliana mainly because he liked to be spotted, soak all the attention and get people to notice him. He was funny, easy to talk to, besides his obvious looks and everything. He constantly flirted with Juliana and although we thought they don't like each other, they did, and a lot:) He didn't have any issue with Juliana being black, because he read her like an open book, understood her like no one else and made her feel unique. Colton was very straightforward with his feelings towards her and nothing could make him change his mind about them and about their relationship. I liked the way they loved each other while fighting, the way they clicked while being so different, but those were the things that spiced up their love story and made it interesting to read. Besides, did I mention that Colton is 3 years younger than Juliana?:)) That was a bonus to the already forbidden affair. I recommend this book not only for its characters but for the valuable life lesson that Linda offers us. It is amazing to see that love could surpass so many obstacles and be as invincible as ever even when a lot of people oppose to it, mainly because of an issue that not many can justify. No matter the color of our skin, we love, we hate and feel the same, and it is not up to nobody to judge and to dictate how we should live our life. I know that living in this society can be hard, but maybe this book will pass on a very important message that everybody should read and focus on. There is no secret that I totally love Linda Kage and her Forbidden Series. After Asher’s story I just had a feeling Brandt and Sarah will make me cry bog tears, and of course I was right. After Quinn, this Gamble is my favorite from the series, and my review will make you understand why. The book follows Sarah, Mason’s little sister and Brandt Gamble, Noel’s brother. At the beginning we have some flashbacks on how the 2 of them befriended and we could see that their friendship runs deep. Sarah was the first person to talk to Brandt after Noel brought his brothers to live with him. At that time he was very shaken up, traumatized by his drugged mother and Sarah was his savior. Although things were not very simple for her either. She had cerebral palsy, a disease that was making her use a wheelchair and that enabled her to properly use her body appropriate. Still, she was amazingly smart and with a heart of gold. Having this illness, she was very a very close person, without friends, because everyone was judging her for her exterior. Brandt didn’t:) He was there for her every time, telling her how amazing and smart she is, what a good job she does in her recovery and what a great friend she is. He always saw her as beautiful, not giving a damn about her illness or limitations and in this was he began to love her. Their friendship love became something else throughout the years, but none of them had the courage to say anything because they were afraid of ruining their connection. I loved the previous books but this one was extremely touching and sweet because I read about 2 best friends that are desperate for each other and that are ready to sacrifice anything to see the other well and happy. The kind of bond Sarah and Brandt had was one of a kind and it really overwhelmed me. There were some lines that made me tear up and I loved Brandt so much for growing up to be this wonderful and selfless man who helped Sarah so much. This idea of seeing beyond the exterior, of loving someone despite physical limitations and only cherishing her beautiful soul made me love Brandt soooo much and admiring him. Even if he had such a hard childhood, without a proper mother, he grew up extremely well with her brothers and Aspen and I think Linda did a wonderful job in creating this character to give a lesson to those who only admire a shell instead of what lies inside. I hope I convinced you to give this book a try and to really experience a true and genuine love story:) 5 stars!!! Have you ever read something and after finishing the book felt soooo confusing that you couldn't put 2 and 2 together? Well, I'm talking about me regarding this book. I am a huge fan of the Forbidden Men Series and I'm always happy to see that Linda Kage manages to share with us diversity in her creations. The characters do not have a pattern, the story are so different and each with its own elements, making the couples unique and a pleasure to read about. Asher and Remy were no exception and after reading the blurb I was super excited to see the outcome of this complicated and funny story. Everything started when Remy, a talented girl, wanted to audition for Asher's band Non-Castrato. They were lacking a drummer and were in desperate need for one in order to continue with their concerts at the Forbidden Club. Her passion for music started as young, and now she was more than ready to face the band members and blow them away with her talent. Except that she didn't get in because she was a woman. Really upset about it, she felt that things were not faire, because talent doesn't know gender. She could handle the pressure of being part of a male band and she will prove it. [image] With the help of her roommate, a wax male mask, male outfits and a husky voice, she became Sticks and auditioned again. And guess what?? She got in!!! Her original plan was to expose herself after getting in and shove it in their faces what a pathetic and misogynist band they are. But plans can change when feelings and taste for success are involved. So, Remy will have to keep on pretending to Asher to be a guy for just a little while.. just a little. Yeah right...You will have to discover just for how long and how their relationship will be affected by Remy's lies. I liked Asher a lot, I've discovered bits and pieces of him in the previous books, but his story really deserved a book. He had a tormented childhood, with a mom that didn't love him and an abusive father. Music was his only safe haven and he learnt everything by himself. The band is his greatest achievement and wanted to make it work so bad. Having such a rough childhood, love was not in the picture for him, until one karaoke night, he discovered a girl in a Incubus T-shirt that managed to enchant him immediately. He didn't speak to her, but considered enough only seeing her to realise she was the one. When she disappear from the club, he searched for her for weeks in vain.. But please read the book to discover the connection between Remy and the mysterious Incubus T-shirt girl. He became friends with his new drummer immediately, not knowing he is in fact a woman. He could open up about certain things to him and didn't have a clue way.. He will soon learn that the heart has a way or recognising things that the eyes have not. Remy had her heart broken once and was not interested in finding love again. She was focusing on her dream, being in Asher's band and managing to prove that talent has no gender. She did get in but as a different person. Knowing Asher was not part of her plans. Being a true friend to him was not either, but with Sticks she made both of them possible and in the meantime she fell in love with him. The situation in which she was caught in was very complicated and sometimes I didn't understand why did she didn't come clean with all of this sooner. A lie went to another lie and eventually a whole crazy scenario was built in which I was kind of trapped. It is obvious that in the process, hearts will be shattered and you have to see for yourself if Remy and Asher will be together in the end. [image] As I said, the story was sweet and funny, but at a certain point it caught me in a daze. All of Remy's lies were one on top of another and I couldn't understand a thing. She was really confusing me and I didn't understood 100% why she couldn't tell the truth to begin with. I know that she loved him and was afraid of his reaction, but putting that he had some trust issues of his own, her lies only made the situation worst. Their relationship was kind of complicated and didn't respect a certain pattern because it didn't start as we know it should have, male Vs female. No, Remy fell in love with Asher and befriended him a Sticks, only to physically know him as Remy the girl. I know, it is very complicated but I enjoyed it because it was original. I've never read a book like this before and my praises to Linda for thinking of this story for Asher. I also enjoyed seeing the gang together again, I really missed them with all of their ups and downs. And I also loved the Latin influences that Remy had. "Te Amo" had a very funny meaning most of the book, but it will be used properly when the time comes. To conclude, a solid 4 stars for this book and congrats for this series which never gets old or boring. Moving on to Brandt story because I have a feeling I will love it. Samantha Young is one on my favorite writers. Period!! Since falling irrevocably in love with her Dublin Series, I've read every one of her books and could relate so much to many aspects she presented there. Family, friendship, loyalty are only a few of her trademark elements and for that I will always love her stories. After saying goodbye to my favorite people from the Dublin Series, we were presented with another beautiful family and environment, this time having another background. If you thought Scotland was beautiful, wait until you discover Hart's Boardwalk. This is the second book from the series and even if I enjoyed Jessica and Cooper together, I had a feeling that Bailey and Vaughn were going to be epic. And my intuition was right. They were amazing and I am very excited to tell you my opinion about it, since I love enemies turning to lovers stories. I believe there is a lot of sexual tension being accumulated and I enjoy reading the way they manage to be together in the end. [image] As you all know from the first book, Bailey is Jessica's best friend, a wonderful girl that fights with everything she has for the people she loves. She has a beautiful inn on the boardwalk, and although the place is crowded with hotels, her inn is special because of the vintage aspect and homey atmosphere it providers for the people staying there. Bailey had a boyfriend for about 10 years and when he cheated on her, her life is totally unbalanced, having her in a confuse situation. Spending all that time with only one person, managed to make her feel safe and not vulnerable. The passion, traditional butterflies were gone, but she was in her safe place. Now alone, she has to figure out her priorities and what does she want from a relationship. She is very protective over her friends, almost being like the mother hen, but deep inside she was waiting for someone to take care of her, but to make her surrender and just.. live:) Vaughn.. First, I would like to say that I've imagined so many heroes as Matt Bomer that I think all of them should have his face:) But, sincerely speaking, for Vaughn there is impossible to picture somebody else besides Matt to portrait him. Now that I had this cleared, we can move on:) So, he is a talented and wealthy business man, owns a hotel on the boardwalk and is Bailey's mortal enemy. With the traditional "stick upon his ass" and tailored suit, Vaughn only knows how to work and dedicate himself to his job. He doesn't know how to loosen up, to live a normal life, to have fun, to be in a serious relationship. He has background issues in this category that made him swear off long term relationships, but the moment he meets Bailey, it is like BANG! All his walls came tumbling down and he began to fell in love with her, despite putting on a serios face and being rude to her 24/7. That was his way of keeping her at a safe distance, for the sake of both of them. As you've seen in the first book, Bailey and Vaughn are enemies, but the only persons that don't acknowledge how good they are for each other are only them. Everyone around seem to see that. When they meet they are explosive, but they manage to keep their true feelings at bay. Vaughn is ironic, Bailey is rude, but they will shortly discover how alike they are. I enjoyed so much their chemistry, like this volcano that couldn't erupt and when it had the opportunity it created a catastrophe. Their scenes were so intense, so passionate, so well written that only leaves you thinking: " It was about time..." [image] I enjoyed seeing another side of Vaughn, one that was more relax, more vulnerable, more mundane. I liked that he was human after all, with fears, insecurities but also with a lot of qualities. Even if it took a while for him to realise, once he knew that Bailey was the one, the pursuing and way he got to her heart were amazing. I sincerely crushed hard on this man and I think pairing him with Bailey was a wonderful idea. I also loved Bailey as a heroine, mainly because I wanted to have her sincerity and with, alongside with that temper of her. I liked the way she reacted to Vaughn and the way the calculated and balanced Bailey was gone when he was near. I truly admire her for the hard work she put on running her own business, being independent and sticking up to her believes. What an amazing pair this guys do:) As usual, Samantha introduced us to a big family that keeps on expanding, and I know for sure there will be a lot of surprises in stored for us. The plot was very dynamic, the scenes were incredibly well written, with humor, love, irony and suspense. I loved the way it evolved, the way a lot of aspects from the first book were presented, making this story almost like a standalone, with its own personality. For me, this is a 5 star read, and looking forward to meeting Jack and Emery because I am sooo curious about what surprises Jack has for us. I am sure that he hides something, and I truly want an explanation regarding his behaviour. And besides that, it will be interesting to see how he will make Emery get out of her shell. Reading is knowledge and knowledge is power; therefore reading is POWER. The power to know and learn and understand...but also the power to dream.
Reading is knowledge and knowledge is power; therefore reading is POWER. The power to know and learn and understand...but also the power to dream. Stories inspire us to reach high, love deep, change the world and be more than we ever thought we could be. Every book allows us to dream a new dream.
How can you resist a book after reading that line? :) This is not my first Emma Chase book and even if I am familiar with her style, I am always blown away by how amazing she can write.. so diverse, funny and catchy. I loved Tangled and The Legal Briefs Series and now, with this new and awesome book I believe that she is back better than ever. Royally Screwed was a pleasant surprise for me, introducing characters that connected with me instantly and a plot that kept me hanging until the last pages. I have a confession to make.. I was not over my head in love with Henry, all my focus being on Nicholas, but now, after reading his book, I admit I was wrong and judged him despite not knowing a great deal about his story and circumstances. Royally Matched has Henry, Nicholas brother, as our leading man, the future king of Wessco and a very disorientated young man who, out of a sudden, has this terrible burden to bare. We can consider partially that Henry is not even capable of taking care of himself, but of a whole state.. but he will be such a surprise for you, that even Nicholas might feel threatened. In his quest for inspiration and self discovery, Henry gets a unique proposal from a TV producer. To host a royalty version of Matched, meaning a lot of girls will compete for his heart, and maybe in the process he will find his queen. He agrees, mainly because he is not the obeying type and little does he knows that the purpose of this TV show will be obtain. He will find Sarah Von Titebottum , a young lady who will accept to take part in this show only to accompany her sister, Penelope. But of course Henry will attract her in an non explicable way and they will fell in love during the shoot for Matched: A Royal Edition. I loved the characters to death. Henry was sooo funny, so strong but so vulnerable in the same time. He had this exterior that was very hard to crack and when Sarah finally managed to do it, the funny and stable Henry was replaced by a person who lost a lot in life. His parent were taken away from him at a fragile age, he adopted this wild way of leaving, but only to distract himself of the pain he really felt. Other incidents and tragedies will take a toll on him, making him this careless guy we got to know in Royally Screwed. At a first glance, he didn't change, but when he will interact with Sarah and open up to her, we will see the pain and feelings he hid from the word, including his family. He is not sure he will make a great king, he doesn't have a clue about laws and consequences, he was just projected into this royalty responsibility without even being asked. Sarah will be his balance and I loved her as a heroine and kind of seen myself in her character. I loved how sensitive she was, how aware she was about everything around her. Her passion for books made me love her more, resonate with her and her believes. I liked her clumsiness, her lack of courage for speaking in public but mainly, her love for Henry. I had no doubt she was in love with him and you could actually feel the trust she put in him, in their relationship. Above that, her delicate and tragic past made me love her more and thumbs up for Henry for loving her so deeply. So, from all this infinite talk about this couple, you can really understand how much I loved him, because despite the fragility of their hearts, their insecurities they both had, they were so good for each other and managed to heal old wounds that nobody could. The book was fantastic and praises to Emma for sharing this fairy tale story with us, because as Sarah said in the quote above, it is important to dream every time. You dream in books, in love stories, in people you share things with, but that is your choice and feel content about it. And Emma's stories really made me dream that fairy tales exist. 5 stars! | The Hearts Series has always been one of my mini obsession romance series and every time another book is released I just flip, leave everything aside The Hearts Series has always been one of my mini obsession romance series and every time another book is released I just flip, leave everything aside and enjoy the story which I know will be amazing, great, you know it:) Hearts of Air follows Trevor Cross and Reya Cabrera in a fantastic adventure of self discovery and second chances, leaving us quite satisfied by the end of the story. The two of them have been friends for a long time, but both nourished other type of feelings, deeper and more solid. However, they are too afraid to admit it and fear their relationship will be harmed after having other type of commitment between them. They engaged in a short and lustful romance, but life separated them eventually. Trevor has been offered the job of a lifetime, to film a reality-show based on his favorite sport, parkour, and Reya is left back in London, only with her hopes and dreams. Now, after 2 years, Trevor is back with an unique proposition for Reya, an adventure which will get them closer again and maybe this time, together forever. Did I mentioned I loved this book? No? Let me explain. I loved the characters, the plot, the secondary characters and the amazing scenario that was brought to us. Reya was my kind of heroine, strong when needed, but fragile inside. All her life she wanted to become a singer, but feared of fame and the spotlight. She just wanted to live in her little bubble of joy, singing for others and being an inspiration. She wanted her music to mean something to her audience and for that dream she kept on booking gigs, writing her own songs or singing covers in an original way. She was independent, beautiful and had a crush on her best friend, Trevor. Trevor Cross is TROUBLE and ENERGY combined in one hot package. He loves parkour, driving and having fun. He is also secretly in love with Reya, but because of some issues he is not honest with her about his feelings and prefers to keep her close only as friends. When his biggest dream comes to life, he makes the big mistake of forgetting his priorities and gests suck in the fame twister, leaving Reya heartbroken and alone. Now, he is back for a second change and won't allow NO for an answer. He fights for Reya with everything he has, to show her that he is a changed man that will always puts her first. Their chemistry was unbelievable, like with all the couples in the series. The scenes between them were full with tension, love, friendship and I laughed so much, it made my heart melt.. They were incredible, I enjoyed so much their push and pull, the way they wanted to do the right thing but failed miserably because their feelings were stronger. I liked the way they evolved, especially Trevor. From the dreamy and careless boy, he truly became a man that saw beyond the material and fame. He saw a future in Reya, something to hold on too and make it his. He became reliable and I sincerely loved him for that. His struggles and torments were real and all of this was made to show his best friend that he is worth to be in a true relationship. Reya as well broke different barriers to become a better person, more at ease with herself and her past. She managed to put aside insecurities, take chances, be more bold when wanting something. The two of them were amazing together and I couldn't imagine of a more fitting couple for this story, that found each other no matter what, in a perfect unity. A major bonus was the changing in scenario, from Brussels, to Paris and Barcelona. I loved to read the description of some famous places and to imagine Trevor and his team doing parkour there. It was extremely original and I praised for the author for nailing it completely. Oh, and the secondary characters were amazing. I loved Trevor's team and not to mention that I got to see some old characters back in action, including my crush, Oliver King. To conclude with, an extremely romantic adventure, with two characters that find their way back to each other and discover the importance of friendship that manages to surpase everything. ...more |

As I said in the previous review for “Full Tilt” this has been an extremely emotional journey for me, because I like beautiful stories from which you can learn. This series is exactly what someone needs when wanting to find the strength to carry on, to get up and continue living, hoping for a brighter future. I have to admit that I have cheated a little and I read the blurb for the second installment “All In”, wanting to see if Jonah and Kacey will get their HEA. When I read that now the leading man is Theo, his brother, I was “NOOOO WAY!!!”, but I knew Emma had a plan in stored for our characters and this choice will be the best. As you may all have figured out, Jonah is no more, leaving Kacey broken. After the sweet love story they shared, full of hopes and dreams, now she is alone again, drowning in her old addiction that this time threatens to kill her. Theo lost his brother and his family is falling apart. He also made a promise to Jonah and he intends to keep it. Only that his feelings for Kacey run deeper than just a promise, but he will need time to let Kacey heal and maybe see him with different eyes eventually, not just only as the brother of the love of her life. Things will progress naturally for them, and life will find out characters searching for a second chance in love, even if a lot of people find it odd. If “Full Tilt” was extremely sad and emotional, “All In” is the same, but with a sprinkle of hope. Don’t get me wrong, the first one also had hope, because Jonah and Kacey loved each other knowing what will happen next and this fact only gave them hope and memorable moments to live the present. But this one had hope for the future, for something amazing and durable, which you know it’s going to last forever. Yap, “FOREVER” is the word that defines Kacey and Theo mow, and the way they figured it out touched my soul in the most overwhelming way. Kacey was amazing as a leading lady, but I want to talk about Theo a bit. I was afraid that after falling in love with Jonah, things will not work for me with Theo, but I loved him too. This loyalty to his brother and family made my knees weak and the admiration that I felt towards him was only stronger when knowing his fears and hidden desires. I had a hunch that he was in love with Kacey from book 1, but I didn’t have a clue that his feelings were so deep. The guilt that trapped both of them was understandable, but I wanted to read this book with an open mind, without judging. I am so against family dictating relationships, even when the situation is like this. So what if Kacey is in love with Theo now? I understood the hesitation, but I wanted them to surpass it and just live, be together, even if family and friends don’t get it 100%. I wanted to shout to everybody to leave them be, to encourage their love and to let them heal. I wanted to shout to Theo’s dad to learn to be proud of this son and see how an amazing talent he is and to Kacey’s folks to love her again. They were so good together and this type of story gives you so much hope and strength, being a life lesson you won’t forget anytime soon. There is no proper time to heal after a tragic moment, no button to click and be fine, and I enjoyed the way their relationship progressed, us reading being the witnesses to everything. When somebody will ask me that is “All In” about, I will tell them is about 2 broken souls that lost a lot, but found “forever” in each others arms. I hope I managed to sum it up properly. 5 stars!!
