I must be honest, I did not know much about this "royal" couple when I obtained the book, so my very limited knowledge was vague, at best. I found this to be based on some facts and decent primary and secondary sources, but also a bit off-putting in the way it was arranged.
There were some organizational issues that confused me as a reader and I feel there was some bias in the way the relationship was portrayed to the reader. (I definitely feel as if there were pieces important to the story that were skimmed over and missed entirely). I certainly felt the author's passion for Mrs. Wallis, but maybe the biographical format wasn't the best way to get across that love.

The illustrations were adorable and the stories were self contained, so you didn’t need to have prior knowledge of the other comics in the series. This book was a highly anticipated book for me, and unfortunately, I did not enjoy it as much I anticipated I would.

I did like the premise, and thought there was some really enjoyable dialogue. I surprisingly liked the fourth wall breaking, which I didn’t think I would.
However, what I disliked the most about the book was our lead, Eleanor. I didn’t find her charming or witty. She was immature and selfish and I got to where I was barely tolerable of her presence, which is difficult when she is the central character here.
His book felt like it was trying too hard to be “fresh and quirky” and landed somewhere between new and unpleasant. ...more

I didn’t like AnnieLee as a character. It was quite annoying how perfect she was at everything and how she really didn’t seem to struggle, neither as an artist or as a person.
Her impulsive choices, from jumping off balconies to being in a diva in professional meeting seem outlandish. Her backstory didn’t quite make sense, and I still do not understand how or why that played such a strong role in the story.
