And theIt didn't take but a chapter to get me hooked on this storyline. The scenes where Ella tried to help the woman giving birth just astounded me. And then, to just take the baby and leave like she did, that took a lot of courage. I think that was what instantly drew me to Ella. Her bravery, her courage, and her willingness to do whatever possible to take care of that baby. She was really everything I wanted out of a heroine.
Then the storyline grew even more interesting with Ella pretending to be the "widow" to an officer of the war. What a unique storyline! As Major Westley made his way home I think I was both giddy and nervous for Ella. That is how involved I was with this book - I started feeling for them! That is what makes a good author, someone who can write in a way that pulls me in and connects me to the characters. I felt like I was at Belmont Plantation right along with Ella, Westley, Sibby and the rest.
Perhaps the best part of the story for me was the interactions between Ella and Major Westley. There was this unspoken chemistry and for the life of me I could not figure out why the characters couldn't see it for themselves. Or maybe they did and chose not to address it! Throughout the book you see glimpses of hope for them getting together and I must say it was the perfect way to write their story. Had they come together too soon, I really think it would have ruined the entire book for me. Ella had a lot of growing to do before she could find herself in a relationship. The dreams that she had were so beautifully written. Hats off to the author for including such a majestic way for God to speak to Ella. It spoke to my heart as well and gave me many great reminders!

First of all, Lessman’s stories/memoirs are so inspiring, so relatable, and just overall well written. She brings joy, laughter, though provoking scenarios, and a desire to reach for your bible and study the scriptures. She includes scriptures as well, but I like looking them up the old fashion way honestly. I encourage readers to have a notebook with them as they are reading, studying and praying. Write down the themes of the stories that speak to you. Write down the scripture. Write your thoughts on The Takeaway Story section. And then write a prayer in addition to the one Lessman provided. I think you’ll find over the course of the book you’ll learn so much, all while growing closer to the Lord.
If you’re looking for a devotional that will speak to your heart, one that you can relate to, and one that touches on deeper topics (not just surface level like some devotionals tend to do), then I highly recommend What’s the Story, Morning Glory. I can see this being one I read through on an annual basis and hope you do as well!

I was so eager to read this lovely Christmas story and I'm happy to report it did not disappoint. From the beginning McGee had my heart. I knew where the setting was taking me, but I was pleasantly surprised with the foster mom part of the story. Yes, I read the book blurb, but I wasn't sure what the dynamic would be between Ilsa and her foster mom. I could feel for both of these ladies, and couldn't read fast enough to see how their relationship ended up.
Ilsa had a lot of growing up to do, but perhaps most important was for her to understand her place in the world, and how to love others. She had a lot of hurt, and I was curious to see how McGee could show such character growth and development in such a short period of time. But with the help of a special painting, Ella, and Belmont Plantation, McGee beautifully grows this character. There wasn't a moment my heart wasn't happy to be back at Belmont with old characters I love - especially Ella.
With vivid descriptions, poetic faith themes, and wonderfully written characters, readers are in for a treat with this beautiful Christmas story! Highly recommend reading. I should also mention the power of prayer, and what makes a true family, are big components of the story. Meyer had my attention from beginning to end - I nearly read it in one sitting (if only lunch breaks were five minutes longer!). I had such an emotional connection to the characters, that latched on pretty quickly I might add, and just couldn't tear myself away.
Joy is such a wonderful heroine. She is flawed, and yet always has the best interest of others at heart. The fact that she took on fostering 3 children, after already having young twins, is extraordinary. This selfless act of love is something I want to see more of in Christian fiction. Let me start by saying I am a huge believer in family, in a traditional sense. But sometimes God has other plans for people, and sometimes that means being a single parent by means of fostering or adoption. I have a huge heart for adoption and fostering - I wish more people would do it really. Meyer has painted of beautiful picture in this story in how fostering and adopting can change lives - and not just the lives of the children.
I have to admit that I was drawn to Chase from the start, but some things he did really bothered me. Like not standing up to his father. But honestly, even though it drove me absolutely crazy, I could understand him and it actually made him pretty relatable. How many of us have someone in our own lives that we struggle to stand up to? It may not be a parent, but the concept is the same. Chase's journey to learning about true family and its place in his life was so sweet to read about.
Contemporary romance fans are going to love this sweet story of second chance love. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

But what makes this noWhen you put two characters together that have a past they don't want to share with others, you are bound to have a good story. But what makes this novella pack a big punch with me is the theme. When your past is holding you hostage, there is only one way to break the chains and move forward - with the Lord. The author represented this theme beautifully throughout the story, and having a past that I am not easily able to talk about, I found myself easily relating to the characters, Tori in particular. She didn't want people finding out about her family because of their social status. Mine was much the same, except in the opposite direction. But what Tori's character needed to learn, as do we, is that your family doesn't define you. Yes, it helps mold you into the person you are today, but you are your own person, a creation in Christ.
Yeah, this story got a little personal in spots for me. I think the average reader has something in their past that they are uncomfortable with. I mean, we're only human after all. So to see not one, but two characters have to overcome their issues and move forward with help from the Lord was a joy to read. Being a novella, it's definitely a quick read and did leave me wanting a little bit more, but this is one story that really spoke to me. This may have been the first story I've read of Massaro, but it certainly won't be the last.

I enjoyed the second installment of the Honeybee Sisters as much as the first. I have never met an Amish character as stubborn and different as Poppy. She is certainly not afraid to speak her mind and do what she feels is right in the moment. She has that "I can do anything" attitude, and I often wondered even in the first book how she would end up with a mate.
Enter Luke. He seems very arrogant and I must admit I did not like his character in the beginning. But the author did a wonderful job of showing you little glimpses of a different side of Luke, and he starts growing on you. I like it when an author gradually shows you a different side of a character. You get to know them in a real-time kind of way and it makes me appreciate them more.
The mystery bee hive tipper continues here too. It's a nice sub-story to break up the "romance" a little bit. I can't wait to find out more on this in the next installment! Hope you'll join me in reading it!

I actually found the historic tidbits Grandinetti included to be fascinating, and found myself googling some of it to find out more information. And how about the fact that we have a female veterinarian!!! That was almost unheard of for this time period, and I love how Grandinetti wove that into the storyline. You could see from the way different townspeople treated her how forward thinking they were (or weren't!).
Grandinetti did a great job of holding my attention, especially when a certain someone came to town looking for Katy and brought some interesting news (Don't want to say who - spoilers!). I actually found his character to be a little creepy lol, but that added to the depth of the storyline. Joey, on the other hand, was a character I could get on board with. His protective nature was endearing, and I felt he was a great match for Katy.
To Stand in the Breach is a great introduction to what I think will be a great novel released by Grandinetti. I can't wait for it to come out! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Let me tell you that Eliza makes me want to go dig up bones. I mean, hopefully there isn't as much danger as she went through lol, but I think it'd be fun!
I can't write a review without saying how much I just loved Devin. His love for Eliza, respect for her family, willingness to put his feelings aside to help her.......I mean talk about a great hero. He is/was amazing. He had his own hurdles to go through, mostly internally, but watching his journey, and his love for Eliza just grow with each and every page was so sweet. Yes I loved the danger and mystery. Yes I loved learning about paleontology and how women fit into that in this time period. But for me, Devin made the story.
Woodhouse fans will devour this stunning conclusion to an amazing series. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Christmas Catch is not only a fantastic holiday read that will have you reaching for some hot cocoa and your Christmas decorations, it's a wonderful read for any time of year!
Let's start with the faith element. I have to say, I really found myself being a part of the church family underneath Pastor Walker. I don't want to get into the particulars, but it really made me reconsider my point of view on a certain person in my own life. It made me see a perspective that I never really thought about before. And while I know this is not the main point of the story, or even close to it, it really spoke to my heart. And the moment when Pastor Walker had a talk with Jahleel, (sorry not spoilers) I was moved to tears. His journey really touched me in ways I wasn't expecting.
Ok, let's move on to the romance. SWOONY. Full of laughter, banter, nervousness, and so much more. I loved Bebe and Jahleel. I also loved the way Jahleel instantly connected with Hope. My goodness there is nothing more attractive than a man who is good with children. I eat it up every single time! The chemistry was there, but more importantly there were lots of thought provoking conversations and situations. Again, I don't want to get into spoilers, but Shiloh handled everything perfectly.
This isn't your normal Christmas story and I am totally on board with that. It focuses on so much more than romance - something I think we need to see more of! I highly recommend Shiloh's latest release. It is well worth your time. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. While I was not a victim of it, I certainly followed the news stories and prayed for all the families involved. I could just imagine the devastation all over again as I read Maggie’s story. I could understand her fears, her loss, and her need to stay far away. I can also understand her questioning God, as I’m certain I would have done the same. Her character was so easy to connect to, because deep down she is what a majority of us are probably thinking to ourselves.
Here’s the thing. Janet Ferguson is a gifted author. Not only does she tell a beautiful story about letting go and clinging to God, but she includes this beautiful love story involving a sweet young boy. Much like Maggie, I was taken by Josh’s son. And their relationship was really one of the highlights of the book. Sure, we all want some romance and suspense, but to see a man or woman cling to a child that is not their own is something special. I loved seeing Maggie’s maternal instincts kick in almost instantaneously, and I think that this sweet little boy was the key to her being able to grow and develop.
There is a lot of emotion in this book. In fact, I had to take a day or two to recover from reading it as I was simply entranced. I wasn’t ready to let go of the characters. In fact, if you’re ever in my town over the next few months, you may find me rereading it. Janet Ferguson continues to capture my undivided attention with this beautiful story. I really loved this aspect of the story because it's something we as Christian's need to remember - showcase our own light.
Though Grant is a new-to-me author, she has easily become a must read for me. You can tell how much research Moore must have put into each and every page because they were all LOADED with history. The women, the planes, the romance, the everything - so much detail and thought when into every single word.
I always appreciate historical stories about women who make it in a "man's world" so to speak. Nancy was such a great heroine. She knew what she liked/wanted and she didn't back down. She was graceful, tough, stubborn, fair, and fought for herself and those like her. But when she did, she fought with elegance, grace, and grit.
I also enjoyed the romance between Nancy and Robert. It didn't take away from the history and emotions of the book, and yet it was powerful at the same time. It was sweet, slow (just the right amount of slowness), natural, and encouraging. I love how Robert was there for Nancy. He allowed her to be her own person, never holding her back. I can't imagine many men in that time period doing that. It was really a sweet addition to an already engaging story.
Though this is a work a fiction, there is so much to learn and be inspired by. I'm so glad Moore decided to write about Nancy, and took her time with the story. Mandi Blake writes amazing characters. She keeps them real, doesn't force faith or circumstances on them. Makes them relatable, endearing, lovable, and sometimes even not lovable. She doesn't hide from certain "jobs" that her characters have because they are sinful, wrong, or anywhere in between. I love that about her, because it reminds me of a very important truth. God can save anyone right where they are. It doesn't matter what they've done - He still loves them.
For awhile, Gage was probably my least favorite character of hers. Why? Because I didn't like what he did. And ya know? Blake certainly turned my view on him around, which in turn made me think differently about people in my own life. I was concentrating on the bad, and not seeing the potential. But Blake.....she just writes in a way that you see things in a different perspective. You see the why Gage did things, and the struggle he had internally. I so appreciate that because I think I need that wake up call every now and then.
Of course, I can't not talk about the romance. My oh my it's good. The chemistry is on point, and there were several heart pounding moments that had me smiling and reaching for my fan all at the same time. Another thing I love about Blake's stories. They are full of good romance!!

I enjoyed every moment of Eliza’s journey, especially the parts that included Felton. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I have read Linder’s work before and loved it, but this one might be my favorite. She has such a way with words. She easily draws readers into the story, you don’t even realize it at first honestly. Plus she has a twist that I did not see coming. I literally gasped when I read it. And I love surprises like that!
Eliza and Felton were such well thought out characters. One looking for answers from one who can’t remember them, until she can…… At first I didn’t care for Felton if I’m being honest. I thought he was way too pushy towards Eliza trying to remember. I know why of course, to help his family, but still, it almost felt like too much. But each time they met and interacted, my heart softened for him a bit. Kind of like his softened for Miss Eliza. Squee! It was such a sweet romance to watch blossom into something beautiful.

I love reading about women who sort of insert themselves into a “male” place in historical fiction novels, and I never thought I’d read about a female auto racer! I’ve been watching some form of auto racing for most of my life, so I was just mesmerized by Flora’s story.
But I also really enjoyed watching Jensen’s story play out. Here’s a guy who turned away from the sport because of the death of his best friend. It was interesting to see his emotions, his reasoning, and eventually his softening of the sport. I thought his character arc was done really well.

I just really appreciated the way she brought them together. They both had backgrounds to overcome, and their character growth was spot on.
But what I love most about this story is the faith thread. Though we probably don't have the same circumstances as Lou and/or Caleb, Wolfe writes in such a way that makes it so relatable to whatever it is we may be going through today. The scriptures are perfectly sprinkled throughout the story as well, making you want to reach for your bible and start reading and highlighting. In a time where I am facing so much, I was encouraged so many times while reading their story. That's the beauty and power of Christian Fiction. It speaks straight to your heart.
