I should also mention the power of prayer, and what makes a true family, are big components of the story. Meyer had my attention from beginning to end - I nearly read it in one sitting (if only lunch breaks were five minutes longer!). I had such an emotional connection to the characters, that latched on pretty quickly I might add, and just couldn't tear myself away.
Joy is such a wonderful heroine. She is flawed, and yet always has the best interest of others at heart. The fact that she took on fostering 3 children, after already having young twins, is extraordinary. This selfless act of love is something I want to see more of in Christian fiction. Let me start by saying I am a huge believer in family, in a traditional sense. But sometimes God has other plans for people, and sometimes that means being a single parent by means of fostering or adoption. I have a huge heart for adoption and fostering - I wish more people would do it really. Meyer has painted of beautiful picture in this story in how fostering and adopting can change lives - and not just the lives of the children.
I have to admit that I was drawn to Chase from the start, but some things he did really bothered me. Like not standing up to his father. But honestly, even though it drove me absolutely crazy, I could understand him and it actually made him pretty relatable. How many of us have someone in our own lives that we struggle to stand up to? It may not be a parent, but the concept is the same. Chase's journey to learning about true family and its place in his life was so sweet to read about.
Contemporary romance fans are going to love this sweet story of second chance love. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Christmas Catch is not only a fantastic holiday read that will have you reaching for some hot cocoa and your Christmas decorations, it's a wonderful read for any time of year!
Let's start with the faith element. I have to say, I really found myself being a part of the church family underneath Pastor Walker. I don't want to get into the particulars, but it really made me reconsider my point of view on a certain person in my own life. It made me see a perspective that I never really thought about before. And while I know this is not the main point of the story, or even close to it, it really spoke to my heart. And the moment when Pastor Walker had a talk with Jahleel, (sorry not spoilers) I was moved to tears. His journey really touched me in ways I wasn't expecting.
Ok, let's move on to the romance. SWOONY. Full of laughter, banter, nervousness, and so much more. I loved Bebe and Jahleel. I also loved the way Jahleel instantly connected with Hope. My goodness there is nothing more attractive than a man who is good with children. I eat it up every single time! The chemistry was there, but more importantly there were lots of thought provoking conversations and situations. Again, I don't want to get into spoilers, but Shiloh handled everything perfectly.
This isn't your normal Christmas story and I am totally on board with that. It focuses on so much more than romance - something I think we need to see more of! I highly recommend Shiloh's latest release. It is well worth your time. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. It only took a couple days to read and that's because work got in the way! The suspense of it all was great. I couldn't for the life of me figure it out, which I loved!!!
Here's what I loved most about the story:
Secondary characters are wonderful (I can't wait to see them in future novels!) Suspense was nail biting at times Romance was....... chef's kiss! Faith thread.....let's talk about that for a minute.
I really enjoyed the way Carlisle wrote Corina's faith journey. It was raw and open and just everything I didn't know I wanted it to be. It was something that myself, and I think a lot of other readers, can relate to. I don't want to spoil anything - but it was just so well written, so realistic, I loved it.
I'm so glad Carlisle came to the romantic suspense scene. She's on my auto read list now and I cannot wait for the next book in the series! Highly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ...more

Millet has such a wonderful writing style. It’s funny, it’s relatable, it’s real life, and it is swoony! And let’s not forget the important faith thread she incorporated throughout the pages. It was just such a refreshing read, and one I really needed!!

McDaniel is always a favorite to read. Her stories have so much depth, mystery, laughter, and more. In Spotlight and Shadow is no exception. Not only the mystery of each time period separately, but the mystery of how the two worlds would collide. Let me say this, it was done perfectly.
I really can't say which time period I enjoyed reading more, probably both the same. In historic time I loved reading about Sophie and Sterling and the mystery of the Mirage. There were so many time McDaniel surprised me with these little plot twists, and honestly I couldn't get enough of them! I can't really gush on this without giving spoilers, so I will just say they were so well done, I didn't expect most of them, and they made the book so much better.
But then there was Elise and Pierson, and well, swoon. Pierson is just such a fantastic hero. All the star qualities you swoon over, but also vulnerable at times, and real. I'm talking like chef's kiss good here guys. There are so many parts of their story that I loved, and all of them are spoilers, so......I can't really comment lol. BUT trust me when I say they are a fabulous couple. The mystery over Elise's father came to a conclusion I was not expecting, but boy did I love. In fact, it made me tear up a bit.
McDaniel has been on my radar since her debut novel and I just cannot get enough of her stories. I highly recommend In Spotlight and Shadow. There's love, mystery, danger, second chances, and so much more. Historic and contemporary fans alike will fall in love with this novel.

This story had everything I wanted in it and more. Second chance romance, wedding plans in shambles, buried treasure, family disputes, and even an important lesson. Webb reminds readers (through Tessa) that we can’t push our dreams on someone else. We need to respect and understand that what’s right for us, isn’t right for our friends. They have different opinions. Different dreams. And that is absolutely okay.
The chemistry between Tess and Carter was great. They fed off each other, and were able to point out each other’s weaknesses. I’m glad Webb wrote them like this – open, honest, real. Too often in sweet novels it seems like the characters keep things to themselves, or just keep things “nice”. I don’t like that, because I think they should be raw and honest and real. Tess and Carter were the perfect match, not only relationship wise, but wedding planning wise. They made each other stop and think about big picture, small picture, and everywhere in between.
Webb adds in a fun family dynamic between Carter’s grandfather and uncle. It added another layer of depth to the story I certainly wasn’t expecting, but found that it really enhanced the reading experience. And life lesson of course – the importance of communication. There is a little bit of everything packaged inside this sweet novel. Contemporary romance fans will enjoy seeing Tess and Carter make their way through the fun and not so fun parts of planning a wedding!

And Mandi Blake has crafted a wonderfully swoony cowboy in Truth is a Whisper! I mean, he was loyal, dependable, had great work ethic, and just the way he sort of pined over Ava...... yeah all the heart eyes here.
But I think perhaps my favorite part of the entire story was watching Ava come to be her own person. For basically her whole like she seemed to walk in her mother's shadows, doing everything she was told to do. Even in adulthood. For Ava to even go to the ranch at all was a giant leap, and Blake weaved in moments of doubt here and there. But as you continue the story, you just see Ava start to blossom, and start to think about the life God has for her, not her mother. I love seeing this kind of growth in characters - it doesn't always have to be about the romance (although the romance was good!).

My heart was pounding while reading this book. There was so much to love - romance, wildlife, suspense, danger, family, faith, and so much more. It was such a good read. What a great way to end the year!!
Warren has such a talent for telling stories. Stories of heartbreak, restoration (not just romance but family issues as well), faith, and yes swoony heroes. There are several quotes that you could take from this book and apply them to everyday life. And they are woven into the storyline so perfectly, effortlessly, and beautifully. One in fact that made me stop in my tracks:
“But faith changes things. It gives you perspective. It allows you to breathe through the grief. And, if you let go of needing reasons to let God work his will through you, you might even see joy on this side of heaven.”
I mean talk about pricking my heart! I literally had to pause while reading this, and reread it about five times before sitting there to reflect on it. Breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.
And the romance. My goodness Warren writes the best male characters. Flawed, yes fierce, protective, loyal and just…..cue the heart eyes. Dodge had his own things to overcome for sure, but what person doesn’t? And I love how warden took him and Echo through their issues. She took her time with them. Didn’t rush things and make it seem unrealistic. It’s almost as if the characters worked it out for themselves, and Warren was simply retelling their story.
I highly recommend reading this new series. And that ending!! My goodness I’m already counting down the days for book two to come out. Get ready for a wild ride folks. Grab a drink, find a few hours of time, and get reading. Warren will have you transported to the wild terrain of Alaska and you won’t want to leave.

Emily Conrad has graced us with such a beautiful story of redemption, grace, letting go, and giving all things to the Lord. She reminds readers that sEmily Conrad has graced us with such a beautiful story of redemption, grace, letting go, and giving all things to the Lord. She reminds readers that sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. But our works of today to try and make up for wrongs done in the past aren't the answer. God is. His forgiveness is. And sometimes, we even have to forgive ourselves. I had so many emotions going through my mind as I read this book. In one day mind you, thank you preorder option!
Full disclosure - there are some topics that may be hard for people to read. There is mention of drugs, sex (nothing at all explicit), and suicide. If those are possible triggers for you, I just want to put that out there. That being said, Conrad approaches these topics with such finesse, grace, and poise. The truth is, these are issues that plague our world today. We shouldn't ignore them or try to sweep them under the rug. And I love how Conrad deals with each of them. I can't go into detail, spoilers and all, but I can say that she really did a fabulous job of dealing with them.
Another thing Conrad is good at? Slow building romance. Oh I wanted there to be a kiss way before she provided it, and you know what? Her timing was so much better than mine! There is nothing wrong with a slow romance. In fact, it gives time for the characters to grow independently, which is exactly what Adeline and Gannon needed. Had Conrad just thrown them together too soon, it wouldn't have worked out that way. See, that's why she's an author, and I'm a reader. But seriously guys, Gannon is a swoon worthy hero, which doesn't surprised me because I absolutely adores Conrad's hero from a previous novel. He's got flaws, insecurities, and tends to sometimes act before totally thinking things through. But he's also loyal, almost to a fault. He tries to see the best in people. A musician and he has some tattoos. Sign me up! LOL Just kidding. Maybe.
At the end of the day, I am so glad that Conrad is writing again. I know it's been a couple of years since her last release, but wow this was worth the wait!!! I highly recommend reading this beautiful contemporary romance filled with grace, love, and redemption. ...more

And while I couldn't read it quite as soon as I hoped, it I enjoyed Natalie Walter's first series so much that I could not wait to dive into another. And while I couldn't read it quite as soon as I hoped, it was well worth the wait. Somehow Walters' manages to put so much in this novel - romance, suspense, action, banter, laughter, Egypt(!), and so much more. I was hooked, right from the beginning. The way she included multiple POV's was genius. Typically I don't like a lot of them because it can be confusing, but this was perfect. Honestly, I liked seeing the POV of a not-so-good character (don't want to give away spoilers). It kind of puts you into that person's mind, shows you a bit of the why and where they are coming from. It just added to the depth of the story for me.
Another thing that added depth was the relationships with the SNAP Team members. The banter, the wit, the fun, and yes even during the high action sequences - it was like they were a family, not just some people who work together. I love it. I'm here for it. And I want more of it. Every single character played a pivotal role to the success of the team - both in the story and during the investigation. I think when an author is able to write the secondary characters in so well that they just feel like they are all main characters - it's like a little slice of heaven. And Walters does just that. I was invested in everyone, not just Brynn and Jack. Bravo Ms. Walters. Bravo.
This book literally has a little something for everyone. I plan to reread it before the next installment comes out, because why not? I love being with these characters, and while I now know the ending, it'll be fun to reread and pick out the little clues that Walters left along the way. I highly recommend Lights Out! Max made a huge blunder as a high school student, prior to his NFL career, and going back to his hometown certainly was not easy. I love the ride that Meyer put him on. I wondered for awhile what he actually did. And as the story developed, and you learned more about Max, I learned that Max represents a lot of us. We make mistakes and want to kind of hide from them for awhile. Or maybe forever. But what Max learned, and what we all can learn, is that sometimes we put more pressure on ourselves than we need to. I think Max was more upset about his blunders (with the exception of Piper) than the town was, and that's probably true for us as well. Forgiveness is a powerful theme in any novel, and I like the approach that Meyer took in this book. It made the lesson relatable to me in a way I didn't expect.
A Home for Her Baby is a lovely story. The town is inviting, the characters are charming, and Piper and Max have a connection that's hard to look away from. Meyer sprinkles little surprises throughout the story that left me with a smile on my face. And reading about a man who will do just about anything to help the woman he loves, including taking care of the inn, well that will just get me right there. :)

For the Love of Joy is a book full of emotion, determination, sacrifice, love, faith, and second chances. The characters are realistic, welcoming, flawed, and at times even vulnerable. But they grow, and you as a reader grow right along with them. This story is a prime example of how we need to rely on God's timing, God's choices, and God's leading more than our own selfish desires. We may think we know what's best, but the truth is that sometimes we don't!
Joy and Davis were a great couple, and really they didn't even hit couple status until you were well into the book, but their dynamic from the very beginning put a smile on my face. Joy's son made for some laughable scenes, which you kind of needed with the somewhat heaviness reality that the characters were in themselves. Both Joy and David were characters that tried to just sort of push the past behind them, and Ferguson reminds readers that we shouldn't be doing that at all. We need to face our pasts, albeit in different ways, in order to move forward with our futures.
I always know that I'm in for an emotional ride (the good kind) when I read a story from Ferguson. She just has a way to get right into my heart when I'm reading her stories. They are full of emotion, lessons to be learned, and a reminder of how important our faith should be in our lives. I highly recommend this book. And although it could be read as a stand alone, I think you'll get so much more out of it if you start the series from the beginning!

Wow, what a powerful story of love, forgiveness and second chances. I was so engrossed in the characters and storyline that I read it in one sitting. I encourage you to do the same, as I feel this will just have a huge impact on how you read the story.
I couldn't imagine being a woman, even in today's world, who's husband has suddenly returned from doing jail time. I mean, Leah went through so much, with the accident, and having to provide for herself, and not really having talked with Bryant after he was arrested. She made a life for herself, and really I applaud her for that. BUT what she didn't do is really take the time to mourn. To mourn her marriage, the hurt and betrayal, and think about how to handle her husband's return.
Then you have Bryant. I kind of felt sorry for him, as it seemed like being in that jail cell really did a number on him. He knew what he did was wrong, and he wanted to make up for it. But to have a wife just kind of toss you to the side and seemingly not give you another chance? That's hard. It's also when Jagears starts to work her magic of this story. Let me say this - she packed quite the punch in this novella.
Forgiveness. It's a tricky thing really, and something I'm sure we all have a hard time dealing with. At least I know I do. But Jagears reminds readers of why we are to forgive....after all, aren't we forgiven for every thing that we do, and freely forgiven? I don't want to get too much into the story line, because you really need to read it for yourself, but wow. This story spoke straight to my heart! Highly recommend :)

Maggie is a hard working baker, and yet struggles to be sure of herself. I found this to be a charming aspect of this character, and could completely relate to it. Plus, loving the art of baking - I was totally on board with her profession! But what I liked most was how she dealt with the difficulties of this story - which I cannot reveal or it would spoil it for readers. I'll just say that she didn't let it stop her. She had brief moments of worry (wouldn't we all), but then got back up and kept going.
Mr. Fletcher on the other hand, he knew he was good at his job, and easily admitted the places he struggled with. How many guys do that!? He was an easily likeable hero - looking out for Maggie's best interests and always willing to lend a hand. Taking care of his brother was super admirable, and sure he made a mistake here and there, but he learned from it, as did his brother.

And thankfully, Louisa picks up right where it left off, so I felt like I didn't miss anything! This series is a must read for all new Christians! Well, actually everyone, but especially new Christians. Beth Troy tackles a topic that many authors shy away from - life after salvation as an adult. There is a misconception that people are automatically "perfect" and live this glorious life after salvation. It simply isn't true, and Tory displays that perfectly.
Lu is a flawed character and that is what makes her so relatable. She doesn't have all the answers, and she certainly doesn't immediately know what the Lord has for her. I feel like many people feel that way, no matter how long they have had a relationship with the Lord. But it didn't stop Lu from continuing on with life and trying to figure it out. And that's what makes her such a great example to readers. Her willingness to keep going.
Troy has penned a beautiful novel that will speak to each and every reader. Lu's story once again held my attention from start to finish. The only disappointment was that I reached the end! Readers who are looking for a storyline they can connect with and learn from will enjoy Lu and Louisa. I just highly recommend reading book one first so you can see her back story!

Kat travels to some pretty cool places. But here’s the thing – ultimately Kat Wanderfull needs to learn what is important. Your location, or the people that surround you. And really, that is what this story is all about.
Rosche had me right from the start of the story, engrossed in the lives of Keira and Robbie. This is second chance love at its finest people. As the story moves along, you get little snippets of the background of Keira and Robbie’s past, and how their past has defined their present. But isn’t the lesson to be learned that we don’t always need to allow our pasts to define our present? Isn’t their room for growth, forgiveness and second chances? Watching Keira and Robbie come to these conclusions was fabulous. They had easy chemistry, but it wasn’t an immediate relationship. Rosche made sure to take her time a little with their story – which allowed for the character growth in Keira that was truly needed before reaching the satisfactory end.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention two secondary characters that surprised me in big ways. I’m always a sucker for a kid in a story. Not sure why, just am. But Anabelle? That sweet little girl was a scene stealer for sure! What really got me was her quick bond with Keira. This is one of those books, and it makes me already want to read the rest of the series. Patchen provides an interesting story, unique back stories, and a suspenseful atmosphere that leaves the reader wanting more!
Rae was so interesting to me. As a mom I could totally connect with her desire to protect her little one. And her investigative instincts were fun to see - she was for sure a determined character. One thing that did both me was the way she was with Brady sometimes. I don't like heroines that can't make up their mind, and when it came to Brady it seemed like she was all over the place. That's not necessarily bad writing, it's just a character fault lol. But when they were together, and real with each other, I really enjoyed reading those scenes.
One thing that surprised me was how easily Patchen made me feel empathy for the bad guy - Julien. You have this impression of him, based on Rae's perspective of of course, and it's not a great one. But then Patchen slips in Julien's POV throughout the story, and it really got to me. There is more to Julien then Rae thinks, she just doesn't realize it. He's a man who struggles with acceptance, mostly from his father. I can totally understand that, and almost feel sorry for him. But then he does things that make me question how I do feel about his character. I mean, my emotions for him were all over the place, and honestly - I like it when at author does that with a villian. Kind of reminds us that they are just people after all.

Her descriptions are vivid, characters are warm/feisty/welcoming, and her storyline will keep readers hooked to the very end. The mystery the this story brings kind of reminded me of the Kindergarten Cop storyline, only in a historical setting. I loved it!
I loved the fact that Dietze had her heroine go undercover. I mean, in the 1880's there were too many women who went undercover. But Abigail was the perfect woman for the job. I mean, she had a murderer to get! I had such a fun time trying to figure out who the mother/son duo was, as well as when the murderer might come unto the scene. Dietz has the uncanny ability to bring her readers into the storyline, and make them experience the story, not just read it.
And the protective Dash? Yeah I really liked his character. Sure he had some mistakes that he made in the past, but he more than made up for it. He was the perfect match for Abigail! Jennifer Rodewald sure knows how to write a book that will not only touch your heart, but pierce it at the same time! The thing that I like most aboutJennifer Rodewald sure knows how to write a book that will not only touch your heart, but pierce it at the same time! The thing that I like most about her stories, including When I come Home Again, is they make you think. Think about your life, your relationship with God, and your relationship with everyone. As the characters go through life, you kind of go through it with them. You grow together, if that makes any kind of sense at all.
Brenna and Craig are characters that I easily could connect with. Me and Brenna, well we have that whole resentfulness going on. Or lack of forgiveness maybe is the correct term. I can hold a grudge with the best of them, and it seems that perhaps Brenna could to. But boy did we both learn about the importance of letting go. Have I mentioned that I love Rodewald's books because they speak to me!? Yeah, I think I'll find myself rereading this one a few times in my future.
And Craig? Well he had his own demons to move past. But the bravest thing I think he did was return home - something I'm not sure I could do if I were him. So in that respect, Craig taught me a lot. His life dealt him some poor hands during this story, and he had to learn to really make the best of those situations. Again, this was such an inspiration to me. It wasn't easy for Craig, and nor is life for us. But Craig showed me how important it is to move forward.
