Recoil by Joanne Macgregor is the first book in the Recoil Trilogy. It's written from Jinxy's point of view and she's a 16 year old girl in the middle of a Rat Fever Plague that's been around since 4 years ago.
Jinxy plays in The Game, which is highly popular ever since the Plague 4 years ago, when everyone stays locked up at home. She's a sniper in the game and by winning it, she's invited to play in a real-life simulation alongside a few others.
After the real-life simulation game, she was recruited to join ASTA - Advanced Specialized Training Academy - as a sniper. The recruits there are all broken into groups. The groups are colour coded and no one is to speak of what they do in training outside their own group.
Jinxy met Quinn - fellow recruit - at ASTA. Quinn's in another group so they have no idea what each is training for. They got close really quickly and things were looking good for them. However on graduation day, something happened that changes all that.
As a professional sniper, Jinxy was to take out infested rats as well as any other infested pets. Her mission grew more as time went on and she's had to take on more difficult targets.
Something was revealed at the end regarding Jinxy and she's had to make a difficult choice involving saving Quinn and following what she thinks is morally right.
I really love Jinxy and Quinn and hope to see more of them, especially Quinn's cockiness.
Absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for book 2 Refuse!

This is also one of very few historical romances I've read in a while so it's refreshing to read a novella from this era.
Noble Secrets is a prequel to the Aether Psychics books and a good introduction to the characters.
I like the strong and independent Pauline who's also intelligent and has a thirst for knowledge. The attraction between her and Christopher (the duke) is pretty much instant and I enjoyed reading how they gradually grew closer.
I'm also happy to report this novella has no cliff hanger and is pretty much a HEA ending :)

Sophie has never known her Dad and when the opportunity came for her to find him herself, she flew all the way to Miami. Where she got kidnapped. Jimmy owed Sophie's father a favour so he had to look out for Sophie and help rescue her.

When she was there, she ran into some trouble and needed legal help. That legal help came in the form of Tate, and thus begun Isabella and Tate's story.
Without going into too much details, this is a nice continuation from the previous books, but it could be read as a standalone too. Similarly to the previous books, this was a very steamy read with lots of nice surprises....more

Holly is a lost princess but she didn't realise that until she recognised her baby photo on the news. Her whole world turned upside down as she realised her parents who raised them weren't their biological parents.
Felix is a would-be prince, if he can't find the lost princess in time. He met Holly by chance and based on several items that Holly has in her possession, Felix believes he's found the princess.
Together they went to Coronia, for Holly to see the country for herself and to know the locals there. And of course, to meet her real father. While they are there, Holly and Felix grew closer and they realised they were falling for each other.
This story had a HEA ending so I was pleased with the way it turned out. A sweet short enjoyable read just before the festive holidays....more

Loved the idea of twins switching identities, albeit only 1 twin is aware of doing so, while the other is in a coma. Add in an irresistible lover and you get a love triangle. How would it feel to have had both twins as your lovers??! ;)
Julian is in a coma and his estranged twin Bridge was brought in by their power-hungry Dad to keep their company stable, while keeping Julian's comatose state a secret. Bridge must assume Julian's identity and act as the CEO of their company. In doing so, he must pretend to be Izzy's fiancé too, and that's where things got interesting.
I wouldn't want to go into much details in my review, but I really enjoyed reading how Izzy and Julian / Bridge got along and how much they were attracted to each other. I'm so looking forward to the next book!

It's certainly interesting to read about each participant and their special magic powers, gifted to them by the Gods who chose them.
We also get to follow Torrence as she assists in the search for Selena, alongside a select few others. These characters were really special, and they each have their strengths (and weaknesses of course) and I can't wait to read how they get on with their search to rescue Selena from the Otherworld.
Selena has at this point participarted in a few weeks of the Games. It's really nerve wracking to see how Selena's nemesis Octavia spins the game in her favour by pitting against Selena at every single chance. Looking forward to the next book!

Unknowingly, Holly had started something, and her followers wanted her to help them on their journey. She reluctantly agreed but soon found she couldn't tear herself away.
Holly's now in a relationship with a new man, so there are troubles there as it interferes with her newfound "hobby". Eventually though, good came out of it, and we do get a HEA ending here.
I was actually hoping to get a glimpse of Daniel from the 1st book, but I guess he wasn't significant enough to be mentioned here. Also, this book was written entirely from first person, as opposed to third person like the previous book. That's why I felt a different tone to this story than the last...

At the end of last book, I was furious at what had happened to Abby, so it was great to read her plotting out her revenge here. She got to work with those close to her and they managed to execute a near-perfect plan on those who deserved it.
I wish those who got away will eventually get caught but let's hope we'll find out in the future books. I also hope to read more about Abby and Kai in the upcoming books, even though they won't be the main characters there.

Emily and Adam's romance is really sweet, and Adam is just the best boyfriend for her. Emily turns to drugs to escape her life and nobody but her understood why. Adam could see the sorrow in her eyes but hey he's her drug dealer, what else could he have done?
When it was revealed later in the book what happened to Emily when she was younger, I was shocked, and finally understood why she uses. I'm so glad this book has a HEA and I wish Siobhan and Susan could have more collaborations in the future!

We first met Jinx in the previous instalments, and the impression I had of him weren't very positive at all. I was initially surprised when I found out this book was devoted to his story.
Jinx met Elle when he was young, and together he discovered he was a faerie. Elle was very much interested in the human world and got Jinx to tell her all about it. Elle offended the faerie queen one day and suffered a great punishment though. After that happened, Elle made some decisions that led her to the here and now, when she is raised as a foster child.
Fast forward to the present, Jinx stumbled upon Elle's blog on the Internet one day and went out of his way to search for her, since he believed she is the same Elle he met back then (but she was using a different name - her true faerie name - in the past).
Elle had a hard time believing the things Jinx told her, but eventually her memories started to come back and I love how their story came together. It was also interesting to have glimpses of the other characters we've been introduced to in the past, appear in this book.

Prince Jefferson is the one every girl wants, but he seems to have eyes for only one.
Add all these characters together, and you don't get a love triangle, but something much more complex than that. I really hope the main characters all get what they wish for. But at the end of this book, we're left hanging, and I need to get my hands on the next book as soon as it's available!
