Recoil by Joanne Macgregor is the first book in the Recoil Trilogy. It's written from Jinxy's point of view and she's a 16 year old girl in the middle of a Rat Fever Plague that's been around since 4 years ago.
Jinxy plays in The Game, which is highly popular ever since the Plague 4 years ago, when everyone stays locked up at home. She's a sniper in the game and by winning it, she's invited to play in a real-life simulation alongside a few others.
After the real-life simulation game, she was recruited to join ASTA - Advanced Specialized Training Academy - as a sniper. The recruits there are all broken into groups. The groups are colour coded and no one is to speak of what they do in training outside their own group.
Jinxy met Quinn - fellow recruit - at ASTA. Quinn's in another group so they have no idea what each is training for. They got close really quickly and things were looking good for them. However on graduation day, something happened that changes all that.
As a professional sniper, Jinxy was to take out infested rats as well as any other infested pets. Her mission grew more as time went on and she's had to take on more difficult targets.
Something was revealed at the end regarding Jinxy and she's had to make a difficult choice involving saving Quinn and following what she thinks is morally right.
I really love Jinxy and Quinn and hope to see more of them, especially Quinn's cockiness.
Absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for book 2 Refuse!

Noble Secrets is the first book I've read by Cecilia Dominic and I'm pleased I got the chance to pick this up.
This is also one of very few historical Noble Secrets is the first book I've read by Cecilia Dominic and I'm pleased I got the chance to pick this up.
This is also one of very few historical romances I've read in a while so it's refreshing to read a novella from this era.
Noble Secrets is a prequel to the Aether Psychics books and a good introduction to the characters.
I like the strong and independent Pauline who's also intelligent and has a thirst for knowledge. The attraction between her and Christopher (the duke) is pretty much instant and I enjoyed reading how they gradually grew closer.
I'm also happy to report this novella has no cliff hanger and is pretty much a HEA ending :)
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)

I'd completely forgotten that Kai has 2 youngest brothers and this is about Zayn and Emery. It's kinda reflective of what his older brothers have done, in terms of a bully romance, but I do love the connection and attraction between Zayn and Emery.
It was exciting to dip into Rydeville territory again and it reminded me of how much I missed this series!...more

It's a must read by Siobhan, and you feel so raw days after reading it.
I love that it has a tie-in with some other characters but it was only loosely, it just felt amazing reading all about the characters that Siobhan has created.
While reading about Viv and Reeve's love story, you just knew that something life-changing would happen, knowing it would happen and not being about to stop it is just the worst feeling in the world, even as a reader.
I cannot recommend this highly enough and looking forward to the next part of the story!...more

Selena and Julian are now on a journey on their own, but Julian's been acting a bit distant from Selena, for some unknown reasons to us. I really do hope they resolve it between themselves ASAP.
We also get to see a lot more from Torrence and her party. There's plenty of action everywhere and the story is moving along very nicely.
I'm looking forward to reading more of what happens next....more
