Ella Fields + Fantasy = A MUST FUCKING READ!
I read everything Ella puts out without fail, because she can bring emotions out of me like no other! Before I go into one of her books, I brace myself for impact. I'm not saying her books just make me cry. No! Her books make me feel every emotion imaginable! I'll be outraged, devastated, happy, laughing, and turned on sometimes in the same chapter. She has the ability to rip out my heart, stomp on my soul, and make me feel like I need to thank her for the abuse. Writing like that is something that should not be missed, so I make sure I never do!
A King So Cold is a completely different subgenre than we usually get from this unicorn. It's fantasy romance, and since fantasy is one of my favorite genres, I couldn't have been more excited to hear the news! If you want to know if I enjoyed this book as much as everything else I've read by this author, the answer is YES!
The storyline is surprising and intriguing. The characters are complex and interesting. The romance is angsty, complicated, and beautiful, and the writing is exquisite. I love everything about this book!
I won't be discussing the plot, because there is A LOT that could easily be spoiled if I do. I recommend going into this one blind. Just know that everything you love about Ella Fields is still present in this novel. Her writing shines in the same way it always does. The story fucks with your head and your heart, and the hero and the heroine make you want to kiss them and beat them in the head with a shovel depending on what point in the story you've reached. It's unlike any other fantasy romance I've read, and I can't recommend it enough!
It's also one of the only books I've been able to get through since quarantine began. If that isn't a compliment, I don't know what is! Fantasy romance fans, this one's for you!...more
Skye in the Deep by Adrienne Young is an impressive debut novel that every fan of YA fantasy should add to their tbr. A masterfully written tale with badass characters and a beautiful message, this story exceeded all my expectations! Knowing this is the work of a new author truly blows me away!
I want to start off by saying that I've read plenty of first time novels, and this doesn't read like one. This story is expertly crafted, interesting, layered, and emotional. It's not one of those books you forget about the second you put it down either. It's stays with you, and that has a lot to do with the author's cinematic writing style. I could picture everything she described with an incredible ease that made the book that much more memorable.
Though I loved the action, suspense, and violence, what stood out to me most in this story was the exploration of what it means to be a family, a friend, and just plain human. Watching these people struggle to survive, to take care of each other, to hold onto their faith, to fight when giving up seems like the obvious choice, and striving to live and die with honor is emotional, intense, and deeply moving.
The relationships between all of the characters were the highlight for me period. They were unbreakable, complex, and sometimes, complicated and forbidden. The latter made everything a lot more interesting.
Skye in the Deep is a vivid, bloody, entertaining, and exciting piece of literature that I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to read. I appreciate a story with a well built world, fierce characters, a love connection worth rooting for, and epic battle scenes that keep me on the edge of my seat. This book delivered on all fronts !
I was intrigued by the premise of this book and preordered it as soon as I read the description. While it turned out being very different than what I I was intrigued by the premise of this book and preordered it as soon as I read the description. While it turned out being very different than what I thought it would be, I still really enjoyed it. This was such a cute story. I loved the way it made me feel when I read it. It made me feel kind of how watching Alice in Wonderland makes me feel.. if that makes any sense. I read the whole book in one sitting. I liked the main characters, but one of the side characters,Oliver, really stole my heart. I wish I could read a whole book that was just about him. ♡...more
Such a bittersweet ending for me! I really enjoyed this series. It had such a unique world and great characters. I grew attached to so many of them. ISuch a bittersweet ending for me! I really enjoyed this series. It had such a unique world and great characters. I grew attached to so many of them. I wish Nikolai, in particular, would get his own book or series. He was so brave, witty, charming....I could go on and on about my feeling for him. My heart broke for him in this book. Ugh, I just need more! The ending wrapped everything up very nicely. You aren't left to wonder about much. I don't want to say anything else because I feel like everything I would say would be a spoiler. I'm so glad that I gave this series a try.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes is a YA fantasy that I've had on my tbr forever. With readers calling it the YA Game of Thrones, it sounded like it Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes is a YA fantasy that I've had on my tbr forever. With readers calling it the YA Game of Thrones, it sounded like it would be the perfect read for me. Why didn't I read it sooner then, you ask? The hype! The hype was so real when this series came out that it worked against me wanting to pick it up. I don't know why I'm like that, but there are times when extreme hype puts me off. This was one of those times.
I completely regret the decision to wait on trying this series, because IT WAS like a YA Game of Thrones! The hype is actually warranted. The author has no problems killing motherfuckers left and right, and truth be told, that's one of the things I like most about it. It feels like nobody is safe, and you have no idea what could happen next. One of the deaths in particular shocked the shit out of me, because I thought that particular person would turn out to be a main character. A main character! Then they were just gone! It's so refreshing to me for some reason. Obviously, this is just the first book, so I may have more of a problem with a murder happy storyline once I'm way more invested in the characters. For now though, it just made everything more exciting for me!
Don't take my enthusiasm for the violence and murder to mean the characters were shit or that I didn't feel anything for them. That couldn't be further from the truth. I have my favorites, but all of the characters were interesting and enjoyable to read about. I'm crossing my fingers that my favorites make it through to the end.
Falling Kingdoms is a fantastic read with magic, violence, betrayal, romance, an incredibly intriguing plot, and twists and turns aplenty! The author's writing style makes this such a quick, gripping read that would be perfect for a fantasy newbie. There isn't a ton of language that overcomplicates understanding the world or makes the book feel more dense than it would otherwise, and the story is perfectly paced and incredibly intriguing. I ship so many character relationships that I'll be satisfied with any number of couple combinations ...more

A Court of Thorns and Roses has been recommended to me more times than I can count I'm so glad I finally took the plunge and read it! 🙌🏻 It took me a little while to get into it at first, but once I did, I didn't want to put it down.
This was a book club read for me which means I read it much slower than a book I would read on my own. I was able to really savor it that way though. Discussing it, analyzing the characters, and predicting the outcomes with 5 other people increased my level of enjoyment. It was perfect!
I need to finish reading the next book, ACOMAF, asap. I started it, but things got in the way of me finishing it. I'm going to add it to my must read in 2019 list. If you like fantasy and romance, I think you should, too! ...more
