La segunda parte está centrada en una pequeña reflexión que realiza Gyro sobre decidir la vida de una madre o un hijo, un poco como tuvo que hacerlo Johnny con las partes del cuerpo del famoso santo. Dudo que haya perdido los poderes, probablemente se haya quedado con una vértebra, la cual fue dada por Hot Pants, pero el dolor viene sobre el conflicto que tuvieron, haciéndose sentir completamente impotente sobre la decisión de dejad lo que tanto le costo conseguir. La vida de Gyro o su vida, un momento para el recuerdo, y también una evolución hermosa del personaje, donde si bien lo notamos muy terco y apático con los demás, poco a poco se va volviendo más determinado con las acciones que debe tomar para futuro. Y finalmente, la última parte (y la mejor por lejos) está enfocada en la búsqueda de la infiltrada por parte del presidente, donde ya sabemos que se trata de Lucy, ella deberá no solo ocultar su identidad, sino al mismo tiempo arrebatarle el corazón al presidente. De esta manera, empieza buscando las lecturas preferidas de la primera dama, y se da cuenta de sus gustos (en todo sentido), por lo que sin titubear comienza su plan para arrebatar el corazón y salvar la vida de su marido y de ella....more

Probablemente no se resuelva y se deje en el misterio, porque justamente eso hace la magia de la obra , dando conceptos cuales no necesariamente están resueltos y quizá es mejor que no se resuelvan. Desde otra parte, la historia de Johnny con todo el concepto que conversa con Gyro sobre la proporción áurea es hermosa, siento que el concepto está muy bien logrado y definitivamente es muy difícil tratar de lograr eso de una forma tan natural en una historia, y aquí lo logran de manera orgánica. Y no solo nos quedamos con algunas revelaciones interesantes, como la de Hot Pants, sino también con la muerte de Sandman. Sinceramente, quedé un tanto decepcionado con el personaje, debido que al ser el primer personaje presentado en el manga, dando todo su contexto de la tribu originaria del desierto de Arizona, pensaba que iba a tener mayor protagonismo. El nivel de simbolismos que están presentes en este volumen es brutal, porque el pequeño flashback que tenemos sobre Ringo no sólo nos da un contexto sobre el personaje, sino que ayuda al personaje de Gyro a crecer. Ahora, antes de realizar esta reseña, quise tomarme el tiempo de revisar detenidamente el manga, ya sea este mismo volumen o sus posteriores, por lo que hago las siguientes aclaraciones: la primera es que cuando llegan a la casa de Ringo, Johnny ya había matado a un personaje de la carrera, en específico a uno de los integrantes de la familia Boom Boom, y la segunda es sobre las personas que derroto Gyro, éstas fueron incapacitadas, no asesinadas. Hechas las aclaraciones, procedo a desarrollar mi idea.
En el momento que deben enfrentar a Ringo, él se da cuenta de la intención de cada uno, y se da cuenta que Gyro no tiene esa aura "asesina", pero si así su amigo y compañero. Johnny ya había cambiado su actitud en la carrera, incluso queriendo ir más allá de Gyro al final de la meta, por lo que tendremos una personalidad muy diferente al joven del inicio del manga. La determinación de él llega a ser tan fuerte que es capaz de cualquier cosa, él no tiene miedo en ir a los balazos con tal de seguir adelante, por lo que se enfrenta sin dudarlo. En cambio, Gyro si tiene ese dilema, al fin de cuenta es el dilema familiar que tiene respecto a su familia, lo cual hace cuestionarse sobre la decisión de tomar la vida de alguien. ¿Estamos realmente capacitados de tomar la vida de alguien? No dudo que Araki se inspiró en películas como No Country for Old Men, donde ese grado de fragilidad no es válido en este mundo, lo cual es dicho explícitamente con Ringo. De ser así, ¿cuál es la función de Ringo? Darle entender cómo funciona el mundo, y darle la bienvenida que su privilegio de estar en una familia construida y con ciertas tradiciones, puede ser mejor que la cruda realidad de los hombres. Él tuve que disparar a bocajarro al asesino de su familia, no por venganza, sino para sobrevivir, dándose cuenta que no podía seguir más débil, por lo que creció y debía endurecerse para seguir el camino. De esta misma manera, este personaje pide que alguien lo mate, porque también entiende que cómo él tomó la vida de otro, desea que otra persona lo haga, dándose cuenta que ya no tiene más cavidad en este mundo, como el verdugo o padre de Gyro. ¿No termina siendo irónico que la mejor forma de honrar a la vida sea quitándola?...more

Desde esta perspectiva, Gyro trata de encontrar una respuesta humana al conflicto, pero creo que no dimensiona las posibles consecuencias de sus actos, y eso creo que irá reflejando poco a poco con las manos manchadas en sangre que irán bañándose más y más con cada enemigo que llega. Pero ahí esta el tema, el capítulo final me tenía con los nervios tomados, y estaba muy ansioso por saber quién iba a ganar, generando huna ansiedad como lector o lectora sobre el desenlace.
Todavía no entendemos muchas de las habilidades de cada personaje, pero eso se irá dando poco a poco, lo cierto es que ya llegamos a la primera etapa y Gyro es el campeón. Sinceramente, mientras leía pensaba todo lo épico que podría ser este volumen animado, y si David Production hace las cosas como lo ha hecho hasta ahora, podríamos estar con un tremendo capitulazo.
Ahora, ¿qué hace especial ver a unos tipos correr a caballo? Y siento que ahí esta la gracia en la diversidad de personajes, si bien Gyro es el favorito de muchos, es fácil sentirse identificado por alguno, por lo que quizá quieras alentar más a Sandman o quizá a Pocoloco. Todos los trasfondos son muy interesantes, debido en gran parte al brillante manejo de la narrativa de Araki, lo cual se ve muy bien reflejado en el capítulo extra de tan solo tres paneles para explicar el trasfondo de Steel Ball Run. Quizá el volumen no es espectacular en cuanto a giros de guión, pero en cuanto a narrativa es increíblemente bueno....more

Pero, ¿es la carrera lo más importante? Para nada, porque ya tenemos la presentación de nuestro primer Jojo, Johnny, y que nuevamente nos llevamos una sorpresa, dado que es completamente diferente a los demás protagonistas, de partida es paralítico, por lo que coloca un desafío no menor en este joven.
Así mismo, nos presenta no solo un personaje carismático como Gyro, si no también nos plantea la idea de estar con otros personajes con trasfondos maravillosos, como Sandman, una persona nativa del desierto de Estados Unidos. De ser así, vamos viendo el punto de vista de diferentes personajes, con muchos guiños a las historias pasadas de los Jojos, pero dejando claro (por parte del autor) que todo esto debe ser considerado una visualización paralela de la obra, manteniendo la esencia (obviamente).

Me explayo un poco, al inicio del volumen el mangaka menciona que a veces las y los personajes sería atraídos por una gravedad, la cual era interpretada como una fuerza de voluntad que es ajena al mangaka. ¿Medio raro? Sí, pero lo entiendo cuando vemos en su conjunta el final.
Emporio era el único que realmente estaría en condiciones de sentirse atraído con la idea de vivir, por otra parte Jolyne, Hermes, Anasui o Jotaro estaban por la determinación, el cumplir su objetivo. La única persona que bajo ea gravedad tuviera la voluntad de cumplir el objetivo de arreglar las cosas era él. Así es como también nos brinda una linda postal, con la banda reunida y semi-completa (FF te queremos), a diferencia del final de Golden Wind. Por lo mismo, creo que es un excelente final, completamente diferente e impredecible a lo que hubiéramos pensado. Por ejemplo, si vienen todos los hijos de Dio, ¿por qué no llega Giogio? Es evidente que vendrá, pero el mismo mangaka hace énfasis en esos detalles. Siento que este tipo de detalles enriquece completamente la experiencia del lector o lectora.
Por otra parte, se indica la predestinación como un tema sobre la mesa, y me siento que es muy interesante, porque deja la duda sobre los acontecimientos deberían pasar porque está escrito que debería ser así o por la construcción de la banda de Jolyne. Si bien, decir que todo está destinado a ser ejecutado de una manera, respecto valor a las acciones de las y los protagonistas, es interesante pensar en el hecho.
Finalmente, mención honrosa para los Rods. Esos seres que existen debido a las limitaciones de grabación de las cámaras de video, donde pasamos de usar 30 fps a 2000 fps daremos cuenta que no existe tal ser. Aún así, lo ingenioso que es Araki para construir todo un mundo sobre esto, es muy laborable, y se agradece, porque hace más grande este mundo de los Jojos, donde sientes que no hay límites posibles....more
