I still believe that this is one of King’s best and most terrifying books ever. He managed to put the characters and the reader in one of the scariest situation, even after re-reading this I still hold my breath and anxious throughout.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500"][image] This Gif scares the shit out of me!![/caption]
Jessie & Gerald decide to venture back to their cabin by the lake to sort of spice up their marriage. Gerald sort of has other plans to elevate their sexual fantasy and it involves handcuffing Jessie to the bed. Jessie is intrigued but it soon turns into one dark twisted situation that will bring back demons from the past and shadows will become alive. (
It is best not to read the synopsis and just experience it but be warned a lot of trigger warnings
)
It was one of those (how can this get any worse situations), it was bloody, gruesome and it made me wonder how King can put himself through such a book because this requires some balls of steel. I was flinching the whole time and the vivid description of the horror that can happen to one human being both physical & psychological is just disturbing, to say the least. His characterization shines that he even gives animals and inanimate objects so much life.
“men were not so much gifted with penises as cursed with them.”
This book isn’t for the faint-hearted some subject matter that is explored will leave the reader shocked. Also this book kind of crosses paths with another of his well-known and amazing book Dolores Claiborne but it’s more terrifying. I would highly recommend it especially for Halloween or just for the shock factor. [image]

Set in Dublin Ireland 1994, the town is infested with drug addicts and crime is at its peak… We follow Billy, a salesman whose only daughter ends up in a coma after a dastardly robbery. The culprits are apprehended and set to be a charged in court but on the day of the sentence the gang leader escapes. Billy decides to take justice into his own hand by tracing the young culprit’s every move as he plans his revenge. But soon things spiral out of control in a very disastrous way. One small decision can ruin everything or make it better? You have to read to find out.
The narration style was executed flawlessly and the main protagonist voice was so strong that you instantly felt a connection from page one. We got to understand him on such an emotional level from his youth all the way to his current life, it almost felt like opening a very personal diary & I applaud the author for building that connection with the reader.
Billy was an alcoholic and the author managed to get me into the mindset of an alcoholic. It was interesting character study especially when he mentioned how most addicts don’t even like the taste of alcohol, that to function in their everyday life they had to indulge in it. I have had some personal experience with alcoholics and I am always looking for material that discusses that topic, he captured it very well in the sense of how lonely of a life it is and how the loss oneself and loved ones is inevitable. It also influenced his decision making in a really drastic way, some situations in the book escalated quickly and leaving the reader wondering… “How will this get resolved?”
The writing style was sharp and had a dark atmosphere about it & meshed so well with the characters and plot. My interest in the story was always strong because every sentence added to the story. The characters developed so well and formed such strong bonds that just made the experience of the book that much better. The dialogue and how the characters were written made them literally jump out of the page, some even had that deep Irish accent which I read out loud because it was so amusing. [image]
This is a much-underrated book, that has so much to offer and I feel that everyone should try it, seriously stop reading this review and add it NOW!!!! *please*… Have you ever just started a book and you knew deep down that this will already be your favourite…

I got a little emotional towards the end because the story resonated so well with me & thank God for thrift stores because I found one of the best reads of 2016. If you have read this tell me so we can freaking talk about it.

“Books don't offer real escape, but they can stop a mind scratching itself raw.”
Utterly shocked & left completely speechless! Yes, this is the very same book that intimidated me to a level like no other and I am sure it will haunt me till my last breath because of its epicness. I am still not sure how Mitchell accomplished this masterpiece, How??? How??? The reason why I was held back from picking this book is the general opinion of it &
if you are reading this don’t go looking into reviews about this because you will be ripped apart
. I would advise you to plunge head first into Mitchell's deep river of a book... Yes, some might crash into the rocks but those who find the flow just go with it and let your brain explode page after page after page
[image]
“I believe there is another world waiting for us. A better world. And I'll be waiting for you there.”
The plot of this book is totally bonkers, the author (bless him) managed to squeeze almost every genre into this one book and also slays each and every one of them. From The beginning of civilisation in New Zealand to Artificial intelligence in a futuristic Asia and everything in between. I was left amazed at the wonder of each narrative. The stories intertwine and unfold like a Matryoshka doll…
[image]
This is basically the plot of the book :0
[/caption]
He brought each character to life and connected them in some intricate way through literature, music, art, letters etc. He captured this concept beautifully with a hint of reincarnation it played out masterfully. The stories are so different yet so similar to one another and will leave you breathless, I swear…
[image]
“Power, time, gravity, love. The forces that really kick ass are all invisible.”
Themes on top of Themes were explored to the max… Philosophy of Human Civilization (without being too preachy) Religion & reincarnation, colonialism, racism, feminism, environmental issues, death, literature and so many gems… Honestly, I think everyone who attempts this book will get something out of it (even if you won’t like the book) it opens such a wide platform for so many different conversations and it’s originality(Trust me I have never ever read such a book before) just elevates it to a whole other level.

“Travel far enough, you meet yourself.”
I didn’t want it to end, I was online ready to order more of his works because his style is poetry to my eyes. I appreciate a book that can alter my perspective on life in general and also manages to introduce me to a new genre (or multiple genres) I will look forward to seeing more of his books. So if you are looking for a book that…
Has an original concept (or one that’s new to me)? Multiple Narratives & Plot Beautiful writing across different genres Totally breaks the rules of the norm of literature Colourful characters with amazing intellect Just a badassery Also my favourite book of all time (If you care that is)

“The best way to get even with anyone is to put them in the rear-view mirror on your way to something better.”
Update: Just watched the movie I would give it a 6/10 the book is still way better This book rapidly broke into one of the best books I have ever read. In my small reading life, I have never come across a book that has such a bizarre concept with its own unique premise and an amazing story line that just leaves you… [image]
“I guess Satan was the first superhero [...] In his first adventure, he took the form of a snake to free two prisoners being held naked in a Third World jungle prison by an all-powerful megalomaniac. At the same time, he broadened their diet and introduced them to their own sexuality.”
This book was made extra cool by the fact that it was my first buddy read with Liz, Ron & Paul and I had such a fun time discussing it. Seeing the others perspectives really added depth to the story and made the book that much greater. Thanks guys and I really can’t wait for future reads. [image] You Guys Rock!!!
“It bewildered Ig, the idea that a person could not be interested in music. It was like not being interested in happiness.”
The book broke bounds in storytelling, it was like putting a puzzle together or being shoved into a new world and you have to navigate through it yourself, it wasn’t hard to get into the story because Joe Hill’s writing has this dark humor to it. Literally the first page we meet
Ignatius Martin Perrish (IG)
who woke up with horns(Hence the title) .He can apparently see into peoples inner dark secrets, people treat him like a priest in a confession box and so many fucked up things that came with the horns. His life was pretty fucked up before the horns came into play, from losing the love of his life to a heinous murder and him being the main suspect, basically the whole town hates him so you can imagine what the guy was going through…
[image]
“You think you know someone. But mostly you just know what you want to know.”
As I said before, Hill is talented and Stephen King must be so proud because he created such an amazing book with a concept that just blows my mind just think about it. Sometimes it read like a crime novel in which you were the detective and the need to find answers will have you flipping the pages, trying to piece the puzzle together. It also read like a horror novel *not the kind of monsters under your bed* but the kind where you question your own morality and seeing how messed up being a human being is… In all sense this was just a book that was on its own level and you can’t pinpoint it to a certain genre just like most of Stephen King’s work. You will have this weird feeling that you aren't supposed to be enjoying what is happening to some people or the feeling of killing of some people and the author manged to put the reader into this grey area of "morality", I loved it.
“When you think about it, most of the good ideas came along to make sin a whole lot easier.”
Themes and Symbolism shone throughout the book and they were funny, dark, twisted and thought provoking. He managed to incorporate and played around with the concept of religion and his use biblical references with a twist was pure genius..
For Example
:
“He paused, twisting his goatee, considering the law in Deuteronomy that forbade clothes with mixed fibers. A problematic bit of Scripture. A matter that required thought. "Only the devil wants man to have a wide range of lightweight and comfortable styles to choose from," he murmured at last, trying out a new proverb. "Although there may be no forgiveness for polyester. On this one matter, Satan and the Lord are in agreement.”
and Also...
“I see God now as an unimaginative writer of popular fictions, someone who builds stories around sadistic and graceless plots, narratives that exist only to express His terror of a woman's power to choose who and how to love, to redefine love as she sees fit, not as God thinks it ought to be. The author is unworthy of His own characters.”
Really good stuff!!!!
It was witty and pushed the envelope a bit and I ate it like my favorite dessert. The characters in themselves were twisted and almost life like, you could see the growth of the main character as he slowly loses his gullibility and realizes that the world is pretty messed up. The side characters were fleshed out to the bone and done so well because we got to see their dark-side which made them essential to the story and I was so happy about that because most side characters are just cardboard cut outs.
I went into this book with the intention of comparing father and son but I got out with a new favorite author, who can write a story like no one I have ever read. I am so happy that I decided to read this and I can’t wait to read his other works. What The Heck are you reading this for, get of your ass and read this god damn book!!!!

"No!!! Why did it end…I don’t want to close the book, I don’t want to leave Zephyr, Alabama." (Throws tantrum)
This was truly magical absolutely breathtaking & one of the best books I have ever read… So much life came out of this book, the author (bless him) managed to capture the true essence of childhood, the beauty of imagination and the importance of naivety. The way most people describe the love for this book and the countless recommendation for this one, I can finally say I understand!!!! This is not only a book with pages but actual magic, the minute I closed the book after finishing I yearned for my childhood… From playing hide & seek to wake up early Saturday to catch up on my cartoons and to remember the time I still believed magic actually exist sigh
[image]
Cory (The main narrator) is a young lad living in Zephyr, Alabama in the 1960s, the small town is quite strange in a way. We see the beauty of being a child through his eyes and also the value of holding on to that inner innocence even as one grows up. One day as he accompanies his father in one of his milk deliveries an accident occurs that will take him into one interesting adventure with lots of unusual characters along the way.
Honorable mention on one of the amazing passages…
“See, this is my opinion: we all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put on the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for God's sake. And you know why we were told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wildness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad of what they'd allowed to wither in themselves.”
I would honestly go into the book blind because you will watch the story unravel in a unique way, I will say that I expected more of a fantasy story but towards the end of the story I came to the realisation that the book in itself is magic. The way the character approached topics of death, love, religion, racism and other topics from his perspective was refreshing because he still kept asking certain questions a normal child would ask like“Why are black people and white people so distant if they all die and go to the same heaven?” or “Is faith real?” I found myself kind of relating to him on a whole other level. The way Robert presents the story through the eyes of a 12-year-old child who is filled with imagination and an eye for the unusual added weight to the story. He painted such vivid images with his description of certain scenes and each character drowned out even though the story was told by a 12-year-old. I normally don’t get child narrators in stories, they usually come off too naïve or too pretentious but on this occasion, it was executed flawlessly.
“No one ever grows up. They may look grown-up, but it's just the clay of time. Men and women are still children deep in their hearts." Mrs Neville”
I loved the writing style, it was so elegant with beautiful prose and so many moving quotes that broke me (I cried so freaking hard man) and discussions on
life after death, faith in religion, Racism in such a crucial time period, the simplicity of childhood
etc. This book has completely altered my perspective on how I viewed the world … When I was a kid I always found solace in the little things like food, cartoons, road trips, Christmas mornings and so much. As I grew up society and adulthood came and fucked it up… expectations, adulthood, responsibility and all that evil stuff came to play but I always protected my inner childhood from that invasion. If I see a bouncing castle I would bloody jump on that shit, that first lick of a cold ice cream after a hot day is magic, Saturday cartoons are still my jam because If I don’t have those little things I would probably be in a mental institution.
So if you want a book that will make you crave your childhood while altering your perspective as an adult pick this one up .

P.S. The only flaw with the book is i need a beautiful edition :) This Edition [image]

Claire North managed to balance out Literary writing with
Science fiction
and it was absolutely stunning. The book was so complex and with infinite possibilities that leaves the readers scratching their heads. But when the wheels of the story start moving and you finally get a grip on the story, the pages won’t stop turning. [image]
The characters were interesting to say the least, they each sort of represented the author’s personality, some were philosophical and went on this tangent about the concept of time and quantum physics and the true meaning of life and why everything is as it is… It was so interesting to see how they explored all possibilities from Religion, Science, and History etc. Plus, the main character travels a lot, meeting avast array of colorful side characters from an Afghanistan man to a Nigerian woman who happens to be queer to an Indian Mystic to a bad-ass Asians assassins which just felt amazing to see represented in the book.
Everything is interconnected and beautifully structured. The whole book is a big plot-twist, with every decision the character makes affecting something big in the coming pages and it was thrilling to witness this come to play.
“They say that the mind cannot remember pain; I say it barely matters, for even if the physical sensation is lost, our recollection of the terror that surrounds it is perfect.”
The themes were endless and relevant to current situations from how war came to affect future events to questions about humanity's belief in the ever battle between religion and science. Death was obviously an overall theme and I always find it fascinating when an author plays with in fiction and Claire North did it justice. The question: "if you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self? or would you kill Hitler and how will that change everything…"
“Time was simple, is simple. We can divide it into simple parts, measure it, arrange dinner by it, drink whisky to its passage. We can mathematically deploy it, use it to express ideas about the observable universe, and yet if asked to explain it in simple language to a child–in simple language which is not deceit, of course–we are powerless. The most it ever seems we know how to do with time is to waste it.”
How she managed to incorporate a lot of elements of Historical fiction, Sci-fi, Action, Thriller, Mystery and so much. This was one of a kind and I highly recommend it and after you read it pass it on because more people need this book in their hands :) And if you have read this book please tell me about it so we can gush or if you can recommend more time travel books or just say hi :)

After reading *Case Histories* and loving it, I got countless of recommendations that I continue on with the rest of the series (Thank you Paul) I loved it. [image]
Bored of reading the same plot-driven crime novels look no further… This is a cool unique crime series book that has found a balance for character study and Mystery… It is so delightful.
Just like her previous novel Kate Atkinson she manages to throw the pieces of the puzzle at the reader and lets them put it back together, with an amazing writing style and the most flawed characters I have ever read in a crime book you get one of the best crime mystery series ever.
The web connects a no. of totally different characters:
Jackson Brodie – divorced ex-policeman and now retired private detective, is visiting Edinburgh with his girlfriend Julia (featured in Martin Canning - a successful author of crime novels (set in the 1940s and featuring a heroine called Nina Riley) Gloria Hatter - wife of millionaire builder Graham Hatter, under investigation for fraud. Louise Monroe - a Detective Sergeant and single parent
Now look at those set of Individuals… Nothing in common but one incident will draw them together and since it’s a mystery I am not telling you anything, go in blind.
Kate Atkinson’s ability to weave a story together and makes you scratch your head [image]
Is truly remarkable, I would though advise you to start with her first book in the series Case Histories to kind of dip your toe into her writing and characters plus you will get so much out of the series. I literally cannot wait to dive into the next book and try out her other books because the woman can write.
“She should have done science, not spent all her time with her head in novels. Novels gave you a completely false idea about life, they told lies and “She should have done science, not spent all her time with her head in novels. Novels gave you a completely false idea about life, they told lies and they implied there were endings when in reality there were no endings, everything just went on and on and on.”
I have been in a reading slump but this book was exactly what I needed… I wanted a cool crime novel; I got that and something very different... [image]
I enjoyed this book immensely; I had the 4th book in the series in hardcover so I decided to get the other three on ebook and was it worth it! The way the story was everywhere and still connected was just beautiful. *Kate Atkinson* managed to have a very cool, dark comical style which just blended well, her characters were fleshed out and sort of morphed into real people. I loved the characterization this how crime writers should write their characters. The plot progressed slowly but the characters were spot on...
Two missing persons and a murder are being investigated by the retired officer Jackson Brodie, a private investigator who is dealing with his own issues. Honestly I would recommend this it was freaking amazing and I can’t wait for the other books

Kate Atkinson
is writing another installment... [image]
“He wondered what a visitor from the past would make of it. It used to be the poor who were thin and the rich who were fat, now it seemed to be the other way round.”
If you have been following me in the past 3 months, I have been devouring this crime series as if my life depend on it. The stream of conciseness writing style with absolutely beautiful prose and characters depth that is executed fabulously was just jaw-dropping to say the least. I want to shove the whole series in everyone’s hand because it is amazing. [image]
"She registered the look of alarm on his face and laughed. "God created Man," she repeated. " And then he had a better idea."
The 4th installment got crazier and juicer than the previous ones and added a glimpse of a horrible crime that took place in the past and how it’s catching up with the present. From kidnapping, death of prostitutes and shocking moments that just happens to involve our lovable Jackson Brodie. This was my favorite in the series because the mystery aspect was a lot more complex and it had at the edge of my seat.

“If you can't laugh when things go bad--laugh and put on a little carnival--then you're either dead or wishing you were.”
I DID IT!!! I FREAKING READ THE MOST INTIMIDATING BOOK ON MY TBR!!! And boy did it take a lot of effort *mentally and physically* to pick up this book from my shelf and start it, being a HUGE *pun intended* fan of King I felt obligated to try this GROUND-BREAKING book. It was everything I wanted in a book and more. [image]
You have to agree when Stephen King writes a big book it’s usually mind-blowingly amazing and with Under the Dome I got nothing less but pure perfection in story-telling. If you have read The Stand you will absolutely devour this one. The Story essentially follows the lives of people in Chester’s Mill, from out of nowhere a transparent and impenetrable Dome appears, with that we see how being literally caught in a rock and a hard place might change some people and the story kicks off from there… [image]
First of all the HUGE cast of people was my favorite part, different personalities and a vast a ray of faces made the story appear so real, that you question whether this disaster is actually happening. King managed to immerse me into the dome and feel for these characters and also how he managed to capture voices of dogs, woodchucks, birds and other animals as the phenomena was happening was genius. He single handedly managed to balance out plot-development and characterization, which made the book personal and fast for the reader.
The Writing-style was fun and easy to get into, with a sense of dark humor and really short chapter which made the pacing of the book move really quickly. If you are those people who are affected by death of characters and pets, 50 people die in the first 50 pages YES! King went there. I was like... [image]
I rooted for the awesome good guys and I HATED like 50 people, my wanting for revenge and retribution made flip the pages. I personally HATED Big Jim (if you’ve read the book you understand) I wanted to jump in the pages and shoot his ass.
It touched upon topics of Power, Rape and Abuse, Morality, Religion, Death, Politics and so much more. I was surprised by how fast I went through it and people are intimidated by the size but sparing some time and immersing yourself in the story, you will not regret, especially if you are familiar with kings writing. I loved loved loved this book and it might on of the best book I have ever read. [image]

A struggling Artist *Sculptor* David Smith who is fallen from fame, depressed and just lost in the world... He is trying to make a statement to the world using his work but it seems all his efforts are just falling apart.....
He sort of sells his soul and has 200days to live... Very Interesting. I loved the denseness and the length it totally made me feel and relate to him as a character. The art depicted is truly somber and strikingly dark which added a lot of personality to the book. Themes like Copping with Death, Struggles to be heard and live a mark in the world, just made the book for me.... Really Worth anyone's time

“Evil is always possible. And goodness is eternally difficult.” ― Anne Rice, Interview with the Vampire
Truly sensational read compelling and thought provoking piece of literature, that made think. Firstly Thank you Anne Rice for making Vampires crazy scary and not forcing human relationship with one *cough* Twilight *cough*. She single handily managed to show that being a vampire isn't all glitter and fun, the bad side of it is truly horrific and it was so refreshing.
The concept of immortality was vastly discussed in the book, showing how to live eternally is a curse that is burdening, Louis the main vampire being interviewed with a human journalist tells his haunting long life, that has been nothing short of horrible since being turned to a vampire by the illusive and complicated vampire Lestat , who is a very complex character. Louis struggles with letting go of his human life and not embracing the new long life. We follow him through the interview as he meets other vampires and struggles with the vampire life.

I enjoyed this book truly and the writing style pulled me in the story, the characters were questionable and complex hence making them interesting. I loved the themes discussed in the book, Religion, the downside of Immortality, the grey are that is good/evil and many more...

“The soil of a man’s heart is stonier; a man grows what he can and tends it.” ― Stephen King, Pet Sematary
I will save my theatrics for later, but dang... this book did a number on me. I have to admit the begin was slow and I was always preparing for something that never happened, but part 2 of the book started out so strong and I was sucked in. Louis(the husband) and his family move to a new town to start a new life and all is well and then something tragic happens, he is forced to question his belief in the paranormal-supernatural. Him being a doctor and all, it seems very conflicting and we see him struggle with the concept of death and some really weird shit *as expected in a King book*
It was so refreshing to dive back into a horrific King novel, It was even better to see the character of Louis almost similar to Jack from The Shining, he was so complex towards the end of the book that his next move was unpredictable... How the theme of death was spread out and how the characters dealt with it was interesting. It did have some heavy moments but I enjoyed the book none the less.
It was so scary guys, I had to wake my mom up at midnight just to tell her how fucked up I am by this book, especially the last segment. It was a mistake to read it at night but it sort of added to the thrill that the book had to offer. I would highly recommend it even tho its starts a bit slowly, the end is totally worth it.

“I live my own life and nurse my own wounds. It's not the best way to live. But it's the way I am.” Being confused on the whole topic I decided to sort of do a little light research and I came upon this piece of Information that helped me better understand the agenda that drives this book . Fact: The term “hermaphrodites” is actually considered offensive. [image] "Hermaphrodites are living things that have fully functioning sets of “male” AND “female” reproductive anatomy – either at the same time, or at different times during their life cycles. They include various species of plants, fish, mollusks, and other little beasties, but not humans. It’s biologically impossible for humans to have full, functional sets of “M” and “F” reproductive anatomy, so we aren’t hermaphrodites.
Intersex people, on the other hand, are those that have a mix of traits traditionally considered “male” or “female” – and sometimes, traits that are atypical for males or females – in the same body. For example, I have breasts and a vagina (“F” traits) and also have XY chromosomes and was born with testes (“M” traits). Some intersex people may also have traits such as ovoteses (gonads with both testicular and ovarian tissue), chromosome types like XXY, or a phalloclitoris that is sometimes described as a large clitoris or a small penis. This book was an important eye-opener in the expansion of LGBTQIA community and during the course of reading it, I found myself trying to get as much information on such a dense topic. I am eternally grateful for this book coming in my life. I really would urge anyone or everyone to read this book, It opens up a conversation that really should be discussed on the extensive topic of all the nook and cranny in the *Gender Spectrum*
My expectation going into this book was to learn about the human gene of our main character and familiarize myself with the topic of Intersex but I got so much more from this book. I may not be qualified to categorize myself as a “distinguished literary expert” but this book was exceptional in my opinion. *The authors name* managed to give the reader a history lesson from the beginning of the book, that wasn’t boring because the voice of Cal Stephanides ( the narrator) was comical and drives the reader to think about the issues discussed… [image]
The story follows Cal’s Grandparents as they are the last remaining Stephanides family in Greece and after the Turkish army invades their land and they are forced to flee to America and start fresh lives but something *not gonna say what because of spoilers* happens during their travels to what seems to be the promise land. We follow the as they get culture- shock, Fight to fit in and ultimately try to live and adapt with the new surroundings. What truly was amazing was the balls Jeffrey Eugenides had, touch on such taboo topics I applaud him, from Incest, Intersex, LGBTQIA, racism, religion, refugees, war and so much more. The fascinating thing is all this happens before 250 pages and it’s so interesting to see it happen at such a crucial time in history when people were not so Open-minded. He was bold when he talked about the 1960s Detroit Racial riot and how the black people saw so much injustice and prejudice, how that topic is still relevant today * Shocking* with the #BlackLivesMatter. Another interesting fact was one of the doctors in the book was studying and Introduced Transgender character, it was so cool to see the reaction of the masses during such a crucial time period, when feminism and gay rights were a taboo topic.
He also said, “Here’s what’s not so funny. These lives, irreplaceable sons and daughters of God, human beings all, want you to know among other things, that that’s exactly what they are *Human Beings* [image]
As we progress through the story, we see how the narrator starts to notice how “different she is from other girls her age. This part was hard to read because I couldn’t for the life of me imagine how this teenager in 1970s would cope with this big transition that is happening. Her esteem is low, she hides when in the gym showers and some family members tease her for not being so womanly at her age. It was a very interesting character study.
I would advise anyone going into this book to have an open-mind because it’s a dense slow-burn book; it tends to run out of the story sometimes but remains close to the point delivery. Such a profound and important read and it has climbed the list to be one of my favorite books EVER!!!

Truly, this is one book that has really resonated with me and I can't believe its over. The world that J.R.R. Tolkien developed and the language really shaped fantasy books today, I am truly privileged to have experienced such mastery of literature and I look forward to the day I will revisit Middle-earth.
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” ― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird [image]
Wow! Honestly this book deserves all the hype that surrounds it, the moral that it bares is beyond human understanding.... I feel really sad that I didn't read it earlier in my life, but regardless the journey through the pages will stick with me for a life time...
“Sometimes the Bible in the hand of one man is worse than a whisky bottle in the hand of (another)... There are just some kind of men who - who're so busy worrying about the next world they've never learned to live in this one, and you can look down the street and see the results.” ― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
The first part of the book honestly made me feel warm and happy from a perspective of a child, the innocence, the understanding of a simple child was fun and it made me feel like the book was hugging me. [image]
Then comes Part TWO!!!! The moral fiber of the 1930's society shows its true form and rips the innocence that was displayed on the first chapter.....

However, this book truly lives up to its expectations, Atticus (the single father) was truly a remarkable flawed character, who not only stood firmly on the right-side of the decaying justice system but passed the same line of thinking to his curiously brave two children Jem ( the son ) and Scout ( the daughter).... The characterization was so well done that for a minute I actually thought they were alive and the writing was splendidly addictive, with powerful themes such a Racism, Importance of Education, Prejudice, Bravery,Religion and so much more. Everybody should read this and re-read it till they truly embrace and understand what this powerful form of literature embodies.

King Slays again!! I wasn't expecting that (I kinda was but still amazed) It was so different and the voices of the characters were so strong, I could feel them through the pages. Immediately I started this book I was like...
Bill: You are obviously gonna love this...
It was a mix of his old suspenseful writing style and his new strong style and I ate it all up. He made savor every page and I didn't want it to end. What made this book worthy of its predecessor were the characters, even the evil ones had distinct personalities.
The book follows up after the final events of The Shining, Danny is all grown up but the monsters that haunt him are still the same. He is now an alcoholic who is faced with a new evil that will stop at nothing but to get all of the children that have the shining. Together with Abra (A very special twelve-year-old girl), they will try to take down the ultimate evil, The True Knot. In another great good vs evil battle, King kills it.

“Death was no less a miracle than birth.”
I can understand why people would be sceptical about the sequel to one of the greatest horror novels but in my honest opinion, this one was almost as good as the first one. It expanded the power of the shining and brought so much depth with new characters. It was one original concept and you could tell that King really wanted to find out what happened to small Danny Torrence after that traumatic event and Danny's alcoholism plays a major point in the book and it made feel for him because unlike his father Danny takes steps to control it. He struggles with his past and also the present and he felt so life-like even his interactions with other characters especially Billy and Abra. The idea of death and the afterlife is also a subject discussed, we see how many people interpret death and how the grieve and move on.
“There came a time when you realised that moving on was pointless. That you took yourself with you wherever you went.”
“Life was a wheel, its only job was to turn, and it always came back to where it started.”
It also had this feeling of a mix of young adult and adult fiction that I really loved. He managed to paint such vivid fight scenes and awesome paranormal power in action in my head. The character of Abra reminded me of Eleven from Stranger Things (Minus the government institutional thing)
[image] Still get's goosebumps!!!!
So if you were sceptical about this sequel... Don't!!!!! It's totally badass!!!!
By this point, it should not surprise you... I am sold on King and I plan to read more of his work :)
P.S. You definitely should read The Shining because it's amazing and this one will spoil so much :)
Thank you for reading :) Tell me if you have read it so we can talk more about it :)...more
