Marigold (Mari’s) life has been far from perfect. Estranged from her family, the closest to a companion she has is her vampire master. She hopes that Marigold (Mari’s) life has been far from perfect. Estranged from her family, the closest to a companion she has is her vampire master. She hopes that one day, he’ll bite her and save her from her life. Except things never go the way she plans.
I am amazed at how much detail and emotion Miss Davis could put into only 15,000 words. I could relate very heavily to Mari and all her struggles. To wish for the chance to start over and being willing to do anything to achieve it.
The worldbuilding was fantastic too. A world where both humans and supernatural beings seem to coexist in a way.
All in all, a wonderful, quick read. Short but powerful.

Ewan Pendle is a wonderful epic fantasy that’s perfect for Harry Potter withdrawals. This story ~I received a free copy for my honest review~
4/5 Stars
Ewan Pendle is a wonderful epic fantasy that’s perfect for Harry Potter withdrawals. This story tells the story of an eleven-year old orphan named Ewan who’s considered weird by those around him. That is until he attends Firedrake, a school for other kids who have the same kind of traits as him. There were tons of twists and turns in the story but I always found myself rooting Ewan. He is the ideal hero, both flawed and strong.
Ewan is not the only wonderful character. Each of them had their own unique impressions and it added to the wonderful worldbuilding of Firedrake. This book is so immersive that even though it’s long, I hardly noticed once I got past the first few pages. I just wanted to keep reading about Ewan’s adventures and it’s for that reason that I could easily see this becoming a series. Just like with Harry Potter, although the ideal target audience is a bit younger, I think anyone could enjoy this book.

For some people, that means getting their affairs in order and spending their final days with friends and loved ones. For others, it means trying to check off any and all things remaining on their bucket list. For others though, more nefarious deeds make an appearance. If you’re going to die after all, what’s keeping you from getting revenge on those who have wronged you?
I think my favorite part about this book was the MC. A retired couple and their pet. It was easy to fall into this story because the wry humor and sassy personalities were instantly likeable. I’ll admit the beginning of the book was a little difficult for me to get into, but I kept listening solely for the fact that I liked the characters.
All in all, an interesting book with some solid concepts. The merge of sci-fi into this suspense/thriller made it all the more gripping.
Narration was solid.

The Keeper’s role in life, as far as he can tell, is to watch over a young up and coming artist named Michael. The Keeper doesn’t know what he really is, but for his entire existence, he has made sure that Michael is safe. When Michael is suddenly kidnapped and taken hostage by a jealous artist, The Keeper embarks on a mission to influence people to come to Michael’s rescue. It’s this move that leads him to the truth of who he really is.
As I noted, I adored this audiobook. For some reason, the Keeper reminded me of Castiel from Supernatural and from there I was hooked. This book has all the wonderful things needed for a psychological thriller and even has an unlikely rescue duo of a Wiccan reporter and an elderly Nun.
This book will not disappoint.

Thriller is probably my favorite genre to read for books like this! It’s been such a long time since a book took me on such a great ride. Every page was filled with twists and turns that compelled me to keep reading just to see if I was right or not about who the killer was! The author does a brilliant job of building the suspense throughout the piece.
In Expired Listings, we meet Dana, a girl with a troubled past who’s into BDSM. Sounds kind of bland when written like that, but I assure you it’s not. Dana is a real estate agent, living in the shadow of her successful sister, Melanie, while caring for her mother, Cassandra, who has recently suffered a stroke. Things seem cut and dry until a string of real estate agents turn up dead. The deeper into the plot we go, the more we see the demons of Dana’s past. Once the story gets to the twisted roots of Dana’s family tree, the reader finally gets all the answers they were after! Usually, I can guess who the killer is in a thriller book, but this one was a complete mystery right up until the unveiling.
In Expired Listings, no one is as they seem. Everyone has a secret which makes this a guaranteed page turner. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye open for more books by this author!

One with power and stealth. Bill is unfortunate enough to come across it one day. Somehow, he survives, but he doesn’t forget the encounter. Fueled to catch the murderer, his quest becomes a race against the clock. The killer has moved its sights from Bill to those dearest to him.
Bill was a standard type of character. He had a normal job and average life. He’s the kind of character that readers can relate to. While he made some questionable decisions, they were the kind that anyone in his type of situation might think would work. I loved the way the author eased us into his mind.
It was easy to guess the killer about midway through the book, but that didn’t detract from the suspense. There was something almost titillating about knowing who the killer was before the main character.
I’ll admit this book was a little hard for me to get into at the start, but I stuck through it, and I’m glad I did. The twist at the end was amazing.
Narration was okay. A little overdramatic in spots, but still easy to listen to.

With it, he can heal people by touch alone, and he has a knack for healing those close to death. One day though, those powers get him caught by a nurse. He knows it’s time to move on because staying in place could help his sister find him. The one who wishes to kill him. His sister is gifted too, but unlike him, her gifts help her to destroy.
I loved the good versus evil struggle throughout the story. Especially where it contrasts in Luke and Annamaria (his sister). Where Luke is good, she is evil. In a lot of paranormal stories, there are superheroes who are able to heal, but not very many villains who can whisper an illness and set it into motion. I thought that was an interesting touch. Plenty of twists and turns throughout the story.
T.F. Allen has a way of building up the characters and the world before diving into the action, and I love that. I’ve only read one other book by this author, but I can say that I will keep an eye out for books by them in the future.
The narrator did a fantastic job as well.

I’ve read a lot of thrillers, and it’s hard to keep a decent amount of suspense throughout the story. Toni Bolton did the genre proud with this one.
This is a serial killer thriller that gives us the point of view of the killer, the victims, and the detective involved. Because we get to see the story from so many angles, we really get a chance to feel for the characters and understand their motives.
The complexity of just about every character in this book kept me hooked. I wanted so badly to see them work their issues and come out on the other side. Mixed with the many twists and turns, it made the book nearly impossible to put down. ...more

It starts off so innocent that it’s hard to guess just where the plot goes. The story follows 27-year-old, Halloween-loving, Maeve. She works with her friend as a princess in a park, entertaining kids all day. But she’s got a secret. A darkness deep inside of her that can’t be repressed much longer.
Maeve’s character is so deeply complicated, and I loved how the story slowed peeled back the layers. There were moments where the prose had some thought-provoking moments like when Maeve ponders the idea of evil in women characters and why it’s so much different from men. Then there are times when she is deeply depraved, doing things to satiate the dark parts of her. The side characters, her friend, Kate, and Kate’s brother, Gideon, were interesting additions to the story. Not to mention Maeve’s beloved Grandma.
If you’re looking for a story that’s outside of the box and full of deeply disturbing moments, this is the read for you. ...more
