I either know people who LOVE this book or don't love this book. I'm in between. Fair to say, I'm not a fan ohmmmm 2.5/3 stars review to come....
Update:
I either know people who LOVE this book or don't love this book. I'm in between. Fair to say, I'm not a fan of Christian romance books to begin with, and I haven't really found a Francine Rivers book I would say I loved. I think I read too many cheesy ones during my HS years. All predictable a d corny- so now for me to really like it it's going to have to be really amazing (Jeannette Oke anyone?) lol
I liked it. I didn't love it and I don't think I would reread it or keep it. I would recommend it tho if I knew someone who would like it.
I loved the parallel between God's love and foregiveness for us and Angel and Hosea. He forgives us over and over again and yearns to be with us. What a beautiful story that is. What a beautiful beyong words description of what He has done for us.
I felt the story to be drawn out at times. I felt in parts emotionally manipulated. Pull all the hearstrings to get a point across will ya?
I really enjoyed the author's testimony at the end, where she shares about her conversion. She used to write erotica novels and was saved and after a time started writing Christian Fiction. That is a beautiful testimony.
Lots of trigger warning for others who may struggle reading this (rape, child loss, abuse of all forms). Definitely a book I wouldn't let my teen girl read....more
