I had hoped for more with the magic and family genre's but no, it's just not working for me. The plot is all over the place and it seems to be going nowhere. Unfortunately this story is just not for me. My apologies to Net Galley, the publisher and the author for not finishing. Thank you anyway. 2 stars....more

It's about a mother and daughThis was a very fun read, and sure there is a little tragedy thrown in towards the end but overall it was a joy to read. It's about a mother and daughter who are so very different in personality and temperament that they don't know what to do with each other. Posey, the mother figure is shallow and conniving but I still liked her because she was so self unaware that she was funny. Calle Jane, Posey's daughter is the polar opposite of her mother and has to learn to stand up for herself to realize her own happiness. I loved that the story is based in the south, I love good southern fiction. I highly recommend this delightful and heart felt story by Elizabeth Bass Parman. 5 solid stars....more

She is an inspiration to everyone, hearing or not. I love the way she gives homage to her family, especially her sister Rachel and her mother and grandparents. She is blessed and she knows it. I was lucky enough to see her on the Batchelor and loved her. However I didn't know she went on to Batchelor in Paradise and found her true love there. Congratulations Abigail on finding love and finding your true self in the process! I listened to the audio version of this book and she did a wonderful job narrating her own story. Highly recommended. 5 stars. Many thanks to Net Galley and RBmedia | Recorded Books for a chance to listen/read an audio version of this book....more

ThreThe Lake House Children is a suspenseful, murder mystery, slightly paranormal story of a family dealing with a tragic accident and its aftermath. Three sisters have inherited their fathers lake house where one of the sisters (Bea) son Zach tragically drowned several years ago. Kates young son Jack has just begun to talk but his insistence that he was already born as someone else has Kate and her husband perplexed. When they discover that Jack thinks he is the reincarnation of Zach, their drowned nephew they don't know what to do but hide the knowledge from family members as long as possible. This was really an interesting premise and I enjoyed the guessing back and forth of is Jack telling the truth or being coached by someone. The author did a great job of making us question of whether reincarnation is a real thing and working it in to the mystery aspect of the story. I really enjoyed this novel. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was excellent 4.5 stars. Tamar and her mother Ruth have never gotten along, in fact Ruth abused Tamar as a child emotionally and physically and when Tamar turned eighteen she left home for good. Years later Tamar is forced to return to care for Ruth who has been kicked out of her living facility due to very bad behavior. Tamar takes her in into her own home and things go from bad to worse as paranormal events escalate around Ruth and her horrible actions. I was intrigued by the demonic aspects of the story, how does one actually identify and vanquish evil. Tamar rises to the task. The mother daughter relationship was also crazy scary. Fans of horror will enjoy this delightfully creepy tale, I sure did. I listened to the audio version of the book and could not stop listening, the narrator was very good. Highly recommended. 4 stars. Vicky Sterling is just one recruit away from hitting her goal in her MLM (multi-level marketing) Puremetics business. But when her recruit target - Anna Price is befriended by the OWLS, (an underground activist group of old ladies) Anna is talked into becoming a mole to infiltrate Vicky's Purmetics group and bring down what is in a reality pyramid scheme. The head of Puremetics, Christian White is as sleazy as they come and has hurt many women with his ponzi schemes in the past. The OWLS are out to get him any way they can. The fact that these women were mostly Mormon and very devout threw an extra layer into the mix. Mormon pyramid schemes, who would have thought! I really liked the way that all the characters grew in one way or another and became more inclusive and open minded by the end. There is a lot of humor and heart to this book, really a lot of fun. It is the story of family, second chances, love, forgiveness, regret and so much more. Can one ever truly forgive oneself for an unspeakable act? This story explores this question and in the process helps it's characters heal deep, deep wounds. The writing is gorgeous and takes the reader on a long winding journey which fully satisfies at the end. A beautiful piece of work. The cover art is perfect. Highly recommended. 5 stars. I embraced this 44 hour 59 minute exquisite listen... and fell in love. (the book version is 1168 pages!) This well researched, and well written description of a young medieval Norwegian girls life, from girlhood to death is enthralling and fascinating. It is humanity at its best. One must love, live, procreate, feel guilt, grieve, love some more and then carry on. It is the story of the human condition that has not changed in probably thousands of years. This novel has EVERYTHING.
I must admit that I did have to tune out the severe religiosity in the story at times, but hey, that’s what it was like during these times. I can let that go. I loved the authors description of the physical details of the Nordic scenery, just beautiful. I can breathe the cold, fresh air from her vivid descriptions and see the glorious colors of the Nordic landscape, not to mention the Aurora Borealis. I would like to mention that the narrator did a fantastic job. She made every character stand out as an important individual, and I never got lost - there are many characters to be sure after such a momentous life as Kristin’s.
I’m amazed what this writer has created in her relatively short life, (age 67). Imagine what she could have created if she’d lived longer. I recommend this book for fans of Historical Fiction, human drama and the human experience. Very highly recommended, and please, to those of you who might feel impatient for a quick story, stick with it. It’s long but worth it....more
Rachel is desperate to have a baby with her narcissistic, philandering husband Phil. When the opportunity arises for her to adopt an unwanted child inRachel is desperate to have a baby with her narcissistic, philandering husband Phil. When the opportunity arises for her to adopt an unwanted child in the U.K. she hops on a plane and flys to London. Unfortunately the adoption falls through, but life has other plans for Rachel and she must pivot her expectations and adapt. She has to learn to trust in fate. I enjoyed The Space Between Secrets by Sherri Langer, it's funny and heart wrenching at the same time. However the whole premise of the story was just not believable to me, Rachels predicament was way out there on the reality scale. Granted this is a story written to entertain but it just did not ring true for me. 3 stars.
