As always Ruskin Bond has poured his heart in these stories, his subtel writing with simple ordinary characters makes stories so heartwarming that it stays with you forever. Some of the stories are part of other books published earlier books yet when it's Ruskin bond you don't want to miss it even if you have read it already. Love is a sad song, time stops as shamli, The Night Train at Deoli and The Eyes Have It are my most favourite stories from the book. Those are not your traditional stories and they don't have simple happy endings. But i am sure but the book will take back to your forgot love. ...more

What a beautiful Book to start my book club (@btp.bookclub ) journey for the year 2022.
#thereadinglist is our #botm for January month, and I finished it yesterday.
The book which starts slowly and looks ordinary at first, slowly grows on you and suddenly you just can't put it down. As the name suggests it's a book about book, but more than that it shows how books can help you to bring you towards light in your dark days. How in the form of books you find new World, new people new stories new lives which can also help you to get better in your own life.
This is the book about a lonely old man who's beloved wife is dead and a teenager girl who is also struggling in her life with loneliness and her mother's mental health conditions, with one anonymous booklist how they find solace in books how they shares the love of the book with eachother and help eachother to move towards light in darker days.
One more thing this book points out how the library system is slowly dying due to ignorance and lack of interest. And how it's a cultural loose to our society. After reading i realised that how I don't have any good library in my own home town.
My favourite characters are of course Mukesh(our old grumpy man) and Aliesha (our 17 YO part time librarian) but I also loved Naina the dead wife of Mukesh, Nilakshi who was friend of Naina and after Naina who becomes a friend to Mukesh as well.
Can't give much about plot as many of my book club members yet have to finish the book, but overall it's one of the amazing book I have read on books.
