This book is everything I learned in my 6+ years of therapy in one place which is great to refer back to but it also has the scientific reason behind it which is what helps me understand the whys better
I LOVED the gut health section and how it linked to anxiety. She gave exactly how to fix it too and I’m about to totally change how I grocery shop! fic reason behind it which is what helps me understand the whys better.
I also really compliment the author because instead of just telling you to journal she specifically tells you what to journal!
The thing I didn’t enjoy was it got spiritual and faith based at the very end but didn’t follow my beliefs so I couldn’t relate and just felt disconnected bc I was just going through it to read.
Overall I’d totally recommend it to people like me who struggle with mental health and trying to function through daily life with anxiety! ...more

Turning Pointe is a very well researched letter to the future of ballet. The book highlights weak areas in the systematic culture of ballet and how we as a population can hold those with power in this sector accountable for change.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read! The industry of ballet needs to take this research as a guide. When I think of ballet, I think of beauty and perfection. However, this book shows how that image is wrong. I do agree with the author that if they want to keep up with todays society, they need to change cruel things that only survived this long based on routine. It’s also very insightful for us as the general public to then hold the industry accountable!...more

This is a nonfiction novel that takes you from 1528 to 2023, answering the question “How did we get here? Why are people so obsessed with their image? Why is social media so popular for influencing these days?”
I absolutely loved it. I was so interested in this topic but the author made me want to be. I adored her writing style. She starts each section with stories from the age and captures your full attention. I love how to wrote these and the flow to them. I annotated the whole book!
I gave this book 5 stars for how knowledgable Tara Burton is in her field, how much I recommended this read to my friends and family before it was even done and the writing style! ...more
