It After enjoying Morning Glory Milking Farm, I snatched this up when I saw it on KU. It pains me to say it, but this lost its sparkle. Major bummer. It felt a lot like my reading experience with I Married A Merman. ZZZzzz
My biggest problem was there wasn’t much of a plot other than following around Grace… and her character has no depth other than being super/rabid horny all the time.
She was too horny to think rationally and was about to make a miscalculation in judgment born of imprudent arousal and nothing more
before Brogan came back and she slid beneath the table to suck his cock right there in front of their coworkers.
or the way she pressed her thighs together as she separated the cutlery
she was likely to become horny enough to go writhing around on the sidewalk like a cat in heat, yowling and offering her pussy to any passersby that wanted to fill it.
coming across her like one of those ridiculous, needy cat girls, and pulling out their cocks then helping themselves, made her dizzy with desire. You're so far gone, you'd let them all take a turn, she thought with a little moan.
clouded by mindless lust
Too horny to think.
She squirmed in her seat, thinking of her neighbor and the far from innocent neighborly thoughts she'd had.
Merrick for his part, isn’t much better. He’s portrayed as an awkward, stuttering, nerdy, beta-male.
"E-excuse me . . . " The voice was low and deep and sent an undulating shiver
This tall stranger had an air of timid skittishness about him that she found sweet
He couldn’t stop fidgeting, shuffling his feet in the gravel and wringing the long, spindly fingers that dangled from his hands.
The slender moth still looked as though he were contemplating escape, his eyes casting about, his wings fluttering nervously.
His wings fluttered nervously, the fluffy antennae atop his head twitching wildly.
Personally, I prefer an alphamale, but I can get behind a sweet beta romance (Ehd is one of my all-time fav H’s), but I need to feel it. I found both mc’s likable, but I needed more character/romance development. I never felt like I really “knew” either of them, so I didn’t connect or become invested in their story. Also, with all the clenching and fire spreading through her thighs paired with his fidgeting and stuttering… it made the relationship feel shallow (based on sex for her and worship for him) rather than sweet.
Bottom Line- I love a creative, quirky, alien looking H romance, and the author does a nice job with this genre, but this one was a miss for me. I didn’t connect to the characters. There wasn’t really any conflict, challenges, or tension to spruce up the plot. I felt it had more filler details (large chunks of “work” filler where they discuss weddings, seasonal pollinators, and agriculture) than MGMF and numerous flashbacks that slowed the pace way down. And, I found the smut more vulgar/crass than sexy. Basically, a disappointment for me, but I do plan to give the next one a shot before jumping ship.

Had I read it bac2.5 Stars When I started this series back in the day, I missed this one for some reason… So, when I saw it for .99, I snatched it up. Had I read it back then, I might’ve been happier with it, but now having the benefit of reading some really great Breed books… this wasn’t great.
Taber and Roni grew up together. He’s 8 years older, and the relationship started out more as a protector role that eventually morphed into lust/love. The book opens with the couple finally deciding to act on their feelings when Roni receives a breakup letter from Taber’s nasty brother. I don’t think it’s a major spoiler because we learn quickly after that (view spoiler)[ he also received a breakup letter. (hide spoiler)] Chapter one picks up 15-months later, but it takes until chapter 5 for them to reunite.
My main issue was I was bored… a lot. It takes a while for them to reconnect, then they don’t communicate about the breakup, so we’re stuck in a misunderstanding cycle for over half the book. This is filled with bicker/bitching because Roni is angry and argumentative… Or them having sex, which wasn’t super sexy. There’re loads of womb clenching and juices flowing.
If all that isn’t frustrating enough, when they finally get on the same page, they start acting TSTL. Why would they allow someone who has proven they mean them all harm stay at the compound?? It made ZERO sense. And, why was there so much importance placed on his barb? Who cares… move on. So much of the plot was filler, and frustrating filler at that.
Bottom Line- I’d only recommend this to readers interested in taking on the series. The next book is much better. ...more

The book opens with Abby walkiThe blurb sets this one up… David and Abby are madly in love, but infertility issues have put a strain on the marriage. The book opens with Abby walking in on David having sex with his secretary. She’s there to announce their miracle pregnancy, and he’s horrified to be caught. Abby flees, David pursues and is killed by a drunk driver on the way home. Six months later, an angel offers him a second chance in another man’s (Tristan) body…. That’s the gist.
Tristan’s Redemption has a mixed bag of tropes. It’s like the author struggled a bit where she wanted it to go, so it’s a bit all over the place while never really committing to any lane. For instance, we get cheating with the opening scene, but it’s not super angsty because it’s not really explored. He dies right away, so there aren’t any conversations. He feels guilt, but it’s never really explained. Sure, he was upset and felt like a failure, but nothing is provided to support why he went from dedicated super-hubs to a cheating bastard for 20 minutes then back to dedicated super-hubs. There’s a bit of PNR and religion themes with the body swap/ angel/God/Christ references, but again she doesn’t really commit to either. There’re some family conflicts, but they sort of dissolve without generating any significant drama.
Bottom Line- Unique take on a cheating/second-chance romance, but it failed to delivery any deep feels. I found it an OK, vanilla read that ended with a win for both mc’s. David had a chance to redeem himself, and Abby got an upgrade with the taller, richer, more endowed Tristan. Epilogue ten years later. ...more
This is my 33rd SW book, and to the best of my knowledge… the first virgin h ever!! It’s also (if you don’t count Cain & Cassidy from the Mercury PackThis is my 33rd SW book, and to the best of my knowledge… the first virgin h ever!! It’s also (if you don’t count Cain & Cassidy from the Mercury Pack) the first shifter pairing where one is underage when they meet. I might be overloaded on SW, I’ve listened to several of her audiobooks recently and read two back-to-back… but I walked away feeling similar as I did when I finished the last one… a little frustrated, slightly bored, 3 ⭐’s… but for completely opposite reasons.
The good news is that the plot is not so busy with filler/random plot devices. There’re several concepts thrown into the book sandwich… meddling mother, wannabe beta-female, stalker, shifter poaching, etc. … but there was a better balance (than last book) and the majority felt more like background noise with the main focus on one baddie. I also appreciated that we didn’t a ton of new secondary characters thrown into the mix with the introduction of the bush dog pack. Blair brings several characters with her (Embry, Antoine, Donal, Gabriel, Mitch, Keisha, etc.) but they stayed behind the scenes for the most part… which was good because Havana’s bunch plot blocks enough, and we still need to get to some OG’s. (Damien, Elle, Alex’s uncles, & I’m still holding out hope for a second-chance for Vinnie)
The bad news (for me) is that I wasn’t wowed by either mc. Luke is cool and all, but he felt a bit flat… and I struggle finding a kitty badass. Blair was ok, and I get she’s young… but I wasn’t impressed. I LOVE that SW’s h’s are tough, but popping your joints out of place and sticking tampons in people’s noses felt immature not kick-ass. It felt silly which made it hard to take the story seriously.
Bottom Line- Another ok read for me. We get some Bailey/Deke hints and a teaser of a “promise” he made years ago… possibly to another woman that sounds promising. I’m also intrigued with Gabriel; he wasn’t around much, but I see potential for another Camden/Cain type of H. ...more

I LOVE a dark/somewhat-psychopathic H, and Camden looked like he’d deliver… and I guess he did in a way… but I was left disappointed. For those that need a refresher, Aspen and Camden were introduced in When He's an Alpha as part of Havana’s lone-shifter/ex-Movement entourage. Aspen was the easy-going Bearcat and Camden was the closed-off, emotionally unavailable Tiger that dated mostly men.
I assume most readers will more than likely be S.W. fans and like her brand of writing (If you’re new to her, I wouldn’t suggest starting here… I’d dip my toe with her older stuff - Dark in You, Phoenix Pack, etc.) and know what they’re getting into. I’m a FAN and can usually get onboard with the “formula”, but found When He’s Sinful took effort at times to stay engaged.
First, it took WAY TOO LONG for them to get together. We know they both want in each other’s pants, but neither will make a move. I’ll admit, I didn’t have a ton of patience for this because the dynamic was in the background all last book, and I found it hard to believe that such close friends wouldn’t feel safe having the conversation. Regardless, it takes 27% for them to hookup, 41% for any forward movement in the relationship, and 75% for them to catch up with what we all know.
Second, I know S.W. never goes deep, but I find it very frustrating when she introduces something important… like Camden’s bisexuality, but then brushes it away. I know I complained about this in Trick’s book, but IMO it was a bigger deal here since we’re told a big reason Aspen doesn’t reveal her true feelings is because she’s afraid he’s only attracted to men. A few statements are tossed out… sex is just a physical release to him- like exercising ... maybe he couldn’t be with OW because he really wanted Aspen. In any case, sexuality is more complex than a release, and after numerous mentions of him being gay or mostly into dudes- IMO- it warranted a discussion between the two mc’s. Or, don’t go there at all because as is, it felt like a lazy gimmick to add drama.
I also felt like the plot was a bit of a hotmess. It’s like she haphazardly dumped several plot devices… wannabe mate, bitchy cousin that wants in C’s pants, C’s bi-sexuality, C’s ex- Randy, photoshopped pics, car explosions, ex-pack problems, Ex-Movement drama, evil uncle, etc., etc. … together and let it shake out without any real direction or development.
With all that said, I did really like Aspen and Camden and was invested in their HEA. I loved that they were so solid, I loved that he was so obsessed with her, and I found their chemistry ...more

(Some were smutty, some were sweet, etc.) I had a tougher time getting into this one. There’re two more books coming out, and I was confused on whether these will be ongoing stories or will feature different authors. I don’t like reading anything that is going to drop off and push me to buy/find another book for the ending…. that’s too much work. So, I automatically skipped anything that sounded like it would be continued. I started 6 stories but was only able to finish two of them and threw in the towel at 56%.
CURSE OF THE CYCLOPS by Clio Evans This story has the following: Size differences, fated mates, MMF threesomes, monster love, praise kinks, sub/dom dynamics, tons of orgasms, and more.
Daphne has just learned about a secret magical library in her college and decides to check it out. She soon finds herself trapped with two sexy cyclops (Adam and Andrew) and learns they are her mates and she is the key to escaping the library. There wasn’t a ton going on, they’re pretty much fighting their way through a labyrinth and fooling around at the check points, but it entertained me to keep going. The smut fizzled out a bit for me. I found Andrew felt more bossy less dom, and there wasn’t really a threesome. We’re told that Adam and Andrew have been having sex, but they don’t really do anything together. They pretty much just take turns with Daphne.
BELFRY by Dee J. Holmes
Isabelle (Belle) is living in a cult-like society with her little sister and her crazy mom. All she wants is to leave the son town and marry her sweetheart, Thomas. Just when they’re set to announce their engagement, the crooked bishop sets up his family (so she can marry his captain) and they’re exiled to the underground which is full of demons and certain death. After a year of heartbreak, her sis ends up exiled as well, and Belle follows her down below. This one is low smut (I think only one scene) and has major Beauty and the Beast vibes going on. Belle and the wannabe om is Jaston- one letter off from Gaston...more

I stumbled across a couple on KU and decided to give it a shot because this time of the year I tend to have choppy reading opportunities (between sports) and thought the shorter length would be a good fit. I’m going to leave this as a 2.5 ⭐, but only read about ½ of the stories.
Into the Wood is pretty much an anthology of monster erotica. Each story has a blurb with trigger/content warnings, so you know what you’re getting into. All have different species/worlds, but they all have something to do with the woods. (lost in the woods, dangerous woods, woods that separate realms, etc.)
A Step Between Realms - Elizabeth Austin Content Warning There is a tiny bit of light somnophilia (sexual action going on while one party is sleeping…but the sleeping party will be very happy about it), sex with a monster, graphic sex and language, and chasing.
Chief Brizor is a sexy green Orc that is looking for a mate. Madeline Jane is a human captured by his brother and given as a gift. Things move quickly because they’re soulmates and extremely horny as soon as they make eye contact. This one is mostly one long romp.
Between Heaven and Earth - YD La Mar Courtesy Warning This book may contain triggers for some. Triggers may include but are not limited to violence, kidnapping and torture.
Princess Kannit is the future leader of the Kinnara (human torso with a swan lower half) and expected to marry for political gain, but secretly she’s been in love with her Gajasimha (elephant head with lion mane and body) bodyguard Rith. The two find themselves fighting for their lives when they get lost in the woods. This one has more plot with less smut. I really liked it at the beginning, but it started to lag a bit towards the end. Beauty and the Beast/forbidden/captive-tortured themes.
Captured by the Wolven: Sweet Monsters - L.V. Lane Themes: size difference, knotting, dirty-talking monster, breeding kink!
Ivy met a wolven (upright lycan-ish) when she was six. He visited her often but disappeared for many years. The story opens with Ivy escaping (town attacked) into the woods when she’s rescued by her wolven. Balen knew Ivy was his mate but left her (watching from a distance) so she could grow up. This is pretty balanced between smut/plot. It reads like a smutty lycan omegaverse.
Caught by the Werewolf - Lillian Lark Content Warnings Chasing, sex with a beast, cozy stalking, knotting, rejected mate, and a tiny bit of non-consensual oral.
Belinda is a witch that runs a small shop. The story opens with her tromping through the woods looking for her date’s house. She’s trying to forget a certain wolf that rejected her. Then we go back to a month earlier when she met her mate Jack when he came in looking for help to break a curse. This one is pretty sweet. It’s not the typical rejected mate scenario and there’s not any angst or anything. It ends with a make-up sex session. This one is more plot less smut… a sweet-ish.
Incubus Dreams - Maeve Black Trigger Warnings Stalking, luring, drugging, and noncon. There are sexual situations with honorifics, squirting, unprotected sex, somnophilia, tail play, anal play, double-penetration.
Aegen is an Incubus that is somehow trapped on Earth or a realm that only connects with Earth certain nights… I’m fuzzy on details because we’re told he misses his home (Darchon), and that he lives away from his people with his friend Viantra, but at the end it says Drew must return to her world. They need sex magic to survive and help each other hookup with others. Enter Drew, a human that befriends Vi and is set up (drugged) and given to Aegen. The rest is a long sexual encounter where both have an explosive connection. Aegen thinks she must be his cinniúint (soulmate). I liked this one, but it ended on a cliffy and the author didn’t tell us (I avoid the ones without a set ending), so that irked me. The End To be continued… Pre-order Incubus Promises now!...more

It’s quite short, is fairly entertaining, but there really isn’t a plot. There’s not a ton of worldbuilding; it almost has an anthology feel. The setting is a futuristic/apocalyptic Earth where the “monster worlds” have bridged and infiltrated Earth. Lucy has recently been dumped by Robert after arriving in a settlement with younger females. (He’s younger and she’s pushing 40) Gral is a Lupi which is a lycan-ish species that only has the animal side. (no shifting) They basically go out once a year to hookup and hope for a mate-bond that they have no control over.
The book opens with Gral scenting Lucy and crossing into her world to pursue her. There’re no obstacles, Lucy is DFW and leaves immediately with him. They don’t really interact with anyone else, so we pretty much just follow them around. There’s an extended “process” to the mating, so it takes a bit to get to the smut.
Bottom Line- It’s not great, not terrible… it just is. There’re no conflicts, action or drama… and little smut. The writing is solid, it just needed more of a plot....more

The narrator wasn’t bad, it just lacked that little something that made me find it endearing this time around. I didn’t care for the later books in the series, so I’ll leave my review and not revisit again.
****Original Review**** 3-3.5 Sexy Minotaur Stars After my MAJOR frustration when Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer left me hanging… I was quite hesitant to dive in when all my friends started raving about Morning Glory Milking Farm, but I was in the mood for something light and figured why not. I suspect reader enjoyment will depend on what you’re in the mood for. All I knew going in was that Violet was struggling to find work and pay off her student loans when she saw an ad for Morning Glory Farm… and that her “milking” was actually (view spoiler)[ jerking off minotaur bulls cuz their baby batter is the main ingredient in Viagra which I found quite clever. (hide spoiler)] So, I went in with this in my head and expecting monster erotica smut.
…And… I was totally wrong. This is a smart, quirky, slow burn romance. Parts were sweet… parts were raunchy… parts were funny…and parts were slow… but it’s all light and witty.
Bottom Line- This is a sweet, fluffy read. (IMO) There’s a slow burn going on, but it’s not deep and my only feels were amusement. These two did not have an easy journey… She shoots him with an arrow, he makes her his sex prisoner, and then finds out she’s his brother’s betrothed…. Awkward…
I enjoyed this. It reminded me of the original books that were formulaic (angry, semi-badass h that hates the fae with a bonehead, bossy alpha-male), but those are the books (1-4) that hooked me on the series. It’s more streamlined with a smaller cast to keep track of and a more contained storyline. There’re no extremely long, drawn-out, repetitive conversations where they discuss the same topic. There’re no wordy, heroic speeches repeated over and over again. It was refreshing… I was entertained.
Without giving details, this one is darker pertaining to abuse than the other ones. There’s also more “sampling” going around that isn’t bad… just different. I liked Icelyn a lot; she reminded me of early Syn but more mature. I can’t say I was overly impressed with Sinjinn; we don’t know much about him. He’s been around since the beginning, but most of his page time has been responding to orders. He wasn’t bad, just rather bland. I never really felt like his character was developed.
I usually complain when we get more characters/creatures/subplots dumped into the Fae Universe, but I am interested in Asher and the Seelie. I always thought the Seelie were the “good guys,” and it feels like this will be opposite. I hope we get clarification and some background.
One of my ongoing grumps is the lack of backstory/explanation/worldbuilding supplied. Typically, a new court, character, species just shows up and become part of storyline with no details. We did get some information on the lesser courts that was helpful.
A Demon’s Plaything tells the story of Lillith and Asrian. Lillith is from one of the lesser courts (Night Court) and has been betrothed to Asrian (Elite Guard-Ryder’s bro) to secure relations. This is short, so we had insta-lust and a plot-Lite storyline with plenty of sexy-time.
“I can be your fucking fairytale, or I can be your fucking nightmare. That choice is yours, princess.”
Bottom Line- Ok read. Both were quite likable, the length was appreciated, and we had banter in lieu of overzealous monologues. Lilith was quite angry, she reminded me of Syn from the first to Fae Chronicle books and the "I hate you because of your dad" vibe is similar to the Dragon King book.
**Random- but did anyone notice Caileen is written like he's one of Alazander's sons? He's one of the Horde Princes setup in arranged marriages with the lesser courts for the tithe. It looks like he's betrothed to the Winter Court's princess... when he's Syn's self-appointed guardian from the Blood Kingdom and was part of Faolin's guard. He was appointed to the triplet's guardian in Seducing Destiny. What's up with that? Not to mention, who is Torin (Tor)? He's also a Horde Prince set to marry someone from the Summer Court that apparently adores him, but I've never heard of him... and can't find his name in any of the books. ...more

Ristan has been one of my favorite characters, so I was excited for his book. IMO, he has the most depth of any of her characters. He has these two very distant parts to his personality. On one side, he’s totally opposite of what you'd expect from an alpha H. He’s into fashion, is Syn’s bestie, shops for baby clothes, is almost motherly to Ciara and Kahleena …but… he’s also a kick ass demon that eats hearts.
He’s the glue that holds the gang together, but I felt like he had a different personality here (he was more her standard alpha H) … and all the Danu… annoying. I didn’t dig Olivia and couldn’t connect to her. I think this was mostly because a) she was portrayed as sort of clueless/dumb and b) she’s totally wimpy compared to the other females. This series has kickass females and Olivia is not kickass and when she tried to be it felt forced. In a way she reminded me a Larissa. They didn’t fit, and I didn’t feel the chemistry. Bummer
What also didn’t work for me was the smut. (shocking I know) I’m just not a fan of this 50 Shades of Fae thing that started up the last book. I didn’t find the BDSM sexy or how quickly Olivia went from uptight virgin (clueless of her clit??!!) to juicy (barf) sex slave. I know she’s a fan of the petals and nubs, but the “soldier” for his member was too much for me. I find much of the smut cringy in both series though, so that's a Jac thing.
his little soldier pressed hard against her belly in full salute...
Yeah, he was a soldier. He was a fucking veteran when it came to pillaging pussies
I did like Lucian, but his "personality" was off. He’s portrayed as a Soul-Seeker demon working for Lucifer which is not how his story shakes out… at all. In fact, a HUGE deal will made of no one knowing what he is. It feels like these books/ series(s) were not really planned out ahead of time because they just don’t flow super great. They overlap, repeat info, and are inconsistent. After finishing the Fae Chronicles, I’m not even really sure why we have this book. Olivia is barely in the future books and this couple isn’t endgame. ...more
