All of my favorite scenes were captured magnificently. It's like being transported directly into the story, until I was on the sand listening to the crowd right next to Kate, Curran, Raphael, Andrea, Derek, and Jim. Derek's gravelly voice! Julie's heartbreak! HUGH D'AMBRAY!! Holy hot damn. I didn't think it was possible to be more obsessed than I already am but here we are. Every star possible for this excellent adaptation. ...more

Bran's voice actor was excellent (no surprise, as he is also voicing Bones in Ilona's bestie Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress books!) and I'm very much looking forward to Julie being a part of the main cast. The first two books are probably the weakest in terms of plot, but I'm in it for the long haul with Graphic Audio. ...more

When Graphic Audio says theirGet ready for all the stars, because the Graphic Audio editions of this series are my new favorite things on the planet. When Graphic Audio says their books are a movie in your mind, they are not kidding in the slightest. I felt like I was INSIDE the world of Kate Daniels, and it is my favorite place to be. Nora Sofyan is a master class narrator and the perfect voice for Kate. The entire cast was a delight to my ears (and for my commute for the beginning of the school year!) I've read the whole series much more than 5 times in so many different ways, and this has very quickly become one of my all time favorites. ...more

I very much enjoyed the introduction and the flashbacks to their past, as well as the delicious reveal of who the Rook really is! Unfortunately there wasn't a lot going on with the pirate angle besides being a new location for the steamier side of their romance. I would have loved something more like The Highwayman and The Highlander, where even though she was brought to this place against her will, the supporting cast serves to emphasize that there's more worth staying here for. We barely got to see any of the pirates at all except for Moncrieff, who is more of a rudderless rake than a pirate. I'm glad to see the Blackheart Brothers story come full circle though and I liked Lorelai well enough as a sweet and gentle heroine who still stands up for her sister and herself against mistreatment. I know the last book is about Veronica and Moncrieff, so I'll close out this series there. Kerrigan Byrne is definitely an author I'm glad I picked up....more

This one had a SOLID plot and some STEAMY sex scenes, which was delectable on both counts. This is also one of the rare books where the pregnant MC wasn't an instant star downgrade for me, but I did like how it added to the building drama of the plot itself and wasn't a deterrent at all to Sam doing whatever the hell she wanted, from riding horseback with her twin guns blazing to riding her sexy Scottish husband of convenience. These are my book equivalent of a bag of candy and I'm eating them up while I'm in the mood to enjoy it!...more

There's simply not enough going on in that sector and the story somehow keeps going at this glacial pace. Do I still love the world and the characters? Totally. But I find myself skimming and bored through so much of it, waiting for something to happen with the PsyNet instead of all the worst case scenarios being dangled in front of me like a cat toy. I tire of this game and I fervently hope for something significant to change....more

But holy hell was the beginning ROUGH. It was awkward, embarrassing, with god-awful pacing, and I could feel my brain cells impaling themselves just to get away. Thank you to evil exes with forbidden magic being the tipping point into going over the threshold of undeath. Literally everything improved once that Rubicon was crossed. I still don't know if I want to finish out this series, but I would love to see Cat & Bones again, so we'll find out soon if I decide to give it a go....more

Regardless of the woman though, this man will never bend. I do like a little more inner turmoil in my love interests, and I definitely like more character development for everyone else outside of the main character's extremely limited worldview. Despite that, the plot was fun and the sex was scorching. It's made being stuck at home with bronchitis a lot more interesting than it would have been otherwise....more
