He spends a few days doing nothing and he doesn’t like it and worst of all he does not trust the group who is purchasing the restaurant. All these hopes all the doubts, Jack doesn’t know what to do. I was impressed with theThough slow to start, with multiple characters & timelines, The God of the Woods by Liz Moore really pleasantly surprised me. I was impressed with the author’s original story and engaging writing. It is 1975 and Barbara Van Laar, is at her family’s summer camp and it should be the start of a freeing summer. Her family is plagued with secrets and loss and Barbara needs to get out of their main house, at the top of the hill. The house itself is so heavy with grief that, the summer away would help ease her own despair. One morning though, a camp counselor wakes up and finds Barbara’s bunk bed, empty. The search for Barbara, brings up all the secrets of the past, including the fact that this is not the first Van Laar to disappear in the property. As we meet all the characters involved, we also learn of all the their faults and mistakes. Each character is unique in their relationship to Barbara and the investigators find one clue after another that seemingly has them going in circles. But one in particular investigator Judy, has a lot to process. She is a young woman on the force during a time when women were new to the profession. She has many things to prove to others but she also has to prove to herself. Her tenacity just may solve this disappearance before any of her male counterparts. Liz Moore has away of layering pieces of a the story in such a way that as a reader, you don’t realize the depths you’ve traveled until the end. I really enjoyed this story, the characters and the ending. I can tell you, I was completely surprised by the ending but it made such perfect sense. Just how I love an ending to be. I want to thank Netgalley, Penguin Group Riverhead and the author for my copy of this book for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review it. She finds herself in a beautiful, seaside town in Florida and immediately starts to decompress. Matt Knight, is an A list actor who is also spending some down time in this seaside town. Both are there to hide from their problems but the town seems to take them in and help heal old wounds. Matt is back home, and his grandmother and father welcome him back with open arms. His grandmother, Tuesday, needs help with her roller skating rink and Matt jumps right in. The skating rink has been there forever and an investment group wants to come in and tear it down, for housing. Tuesday was given The Starlight from her husband. She never knew how he got possession of it and she at k e time had the paperwork but can’t find it. She needs it now, to prove she owns it. She has all the things going against her but her family and the town rally to keep The Starlight open. This was a very sweet story about family, loss and community. It also reminds us that while being a super model and a famous actor, comes with problems. That they are t exempt from struggles and real life. It is a dual timeline story and I love how the author built upon the story by going back and forth in time. I really enjoyed how honest the characters were portrayed. Rachel Hauck did a great job, bringing this story to life. I love a good summer read and Meet Me at the Starlight is just that. I want to thank Netgalley and the author for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book. I didn’t really know what the book was about but sometimes those are the best reads. Margo Millet’s mother is a Hooters waitress and her father is an ex pro wrestler. She knows she is going to have to hustle to get some where in life and yet she really doesn’t have the gumption to do so. She enrolls in junior college and really likes it but gets caught up with a married professor and the affair is short but fruitful. Fruitful in the sense that the affair is over and she is pregnant. She is scared and upset but she knows she wants to keep the baby. This is a here the interesting part comes. She is 29 with a baby, she has no money but does have an apartment. She has a roommate and her father comes and needs a place to stay. She allows him and has him help with the baby. She try’s her hand at an Only Fans account. She thinks it will only be an experiment but she finds she is rather successful at it and the money comes pouring in. The author shows the true Frist of a woman and a mom. Margo is smart and witty and her father and her roommate are all so human. I found some parts to be sad, funny but most of all hopeful. That given some of the worst cards to play, you can be resilient and rise about it all. Margo’s Got Money Problems by Rufi Thorpe was an excellent, original book. It always pulls at the heartstrings how we live and communicate with the ones we love. Or for that matter how we are unable to communicate with the ones that are closest to us. The story is about three generations of Irish Americans. The love, the loss, the ties that bind and everything that makes and breaks the family. The writing is absolutely beautiful, and the characters are so flawed. The fact that they are so human is a testament to Anne’s writing. You may never have a family dynamic like this one, but boy do you think you could. Within Arms Reach is another one of Ann’s fabulous novels. I just love everything about them and when I finish the book, I am so sad to see the characters go. But the ending is the way it should be and that is another one of Ann’s talents. I want to think NetGalley, Random Publishing House Group, and the author for my copy for an honest review. I always take the chance to read and review, historical fiction books and when I go the chance to read Husbands and Lovers by Beatriz Williams, I jumpI always take the chance to read and review, historical fiction books and when I go the chance to read Husbands and Lovers by Beatriz Williams, I jumped on it. This is not my first book to read by William’s and it won’t be my last. There is something very compelling about her stories. Her characters have so much depth. This story follows two time lines in history. Cairo in 1951 and modern day in New England. Mallory Dunne is a single mom and gets the most dreaded call. Her son, at sleep camp, has eaten a poisonous mushroom, on a dare and is in critical condition. She rushes up to the hospital not knowing what condition she will find her son in. All she can do is hope. Cairo 1951, a Hungarian refugee, has created a very nice life for herself. She is married to a diplomat and everything seems to be safe and secure. Something is going to happen to make change, but neither lady knows what it will be. How can these women have anything in common? While we learn about each woman, her life and her history, William’s pieces together a brilliant story of hope, pain and suffering. Where strong women must make tough choices and keep their head held high. There are so many complex situations and yet there is such beauty in how things come together. This was a wonderful read, I am so glad I took my time getting to know the characters. There two timelines and multiple characters, so take your time. It will be worth your while. This is a wonderful, timeless book. I want to thank Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine Book and the author for my copy for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure reading and reviewing this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I have read so many of her books and each one is like an old friend. Only The Brave is an excellent example of her writing. A young woman, is faced with unimaginable challenges. Seemingly, Right after he death, Hitler come into control and Sophia’s whole world is tuned upside down. She must protect her sister and care for her father to keep the house moving. She feels strongly about the resistance movement brewing in Berlin. She knows she can get into so much trouble but she also doesn’t want to sit back and do nothing. Times get increasingly tough and it is time to get people out of Berlin. Sophia helps her sister and her husband escape. Her father helps more and more people, illegally because he is no longer able to practice. All of the Jews are in constant threat and it is a horrible time. It ends up that Sophia is left behind, her father eventually gets arrested and taken away to a concentration camp and Sophia must survive. She seeks shelter in a convent and considers all the blessings within. She realizes she can do more than she thinks and she can really make a difference. Daniel Steel is able to take tragedy and find hope. To create characters that are doers and are helpers. You can’t help but get behind the main character and wish her the best. Sophia has every reason in the world to give up but she can’t sit by and wait. She has to act. Who doesn’t love a character like that? This was an excellent, quick read.
