Like the first two books in the series, this is full of action, a great fantasy world of Japanese mythology, an intricate plot, and very loveable characters.
I adore the found family in this. Yumeko, Tatsumi, Okame, Daisuke and Reika are so wholesome, I can’t get enough of them, and their banter. The romantic relationships are also so heartwarming. I’ve loved seeing Yumeko and Tatsumi’s slow-burn relationship develop over the series, and how Okame and Daisuke have evolved together.
I’m so sad to see Yumeko’s journey come to an end. She has come so far from the sheltered, naive girl she was, into an incredibly strong character, who loves and protects everyone and everything around her.
I have never been so emotional over a book before. There is so much heartbreak and pain, I probably spent half the book crying.
I did find the ending slightly disappointing. It was beautiful, but my heart couldn’t handle it.
Overall if you love stories with quests, Japanese mythology, lgbt rep, found family and unlikely friendships/relationships I’d recommend this series to you.

There is so much sadness, pain, and betrayal, I fell so much more in love with all these tortured characters.
Nadya, Serefin and Malachiasz are so damaged and irredeemable, but you can't help but love them so much.
I adored all the Malachiasz and Nadya scenes. They're both so broken, but when they come together you get a beautiful and terrible relationship, where they're constantly hurting eachother, even though they don't want to. And Malachiasz is so monstrous, yet so sweet with Nadya, how could I not love him!
I loved how complicated and unique the plot was with all the Gods and myths! It’s very different than your usual young adult novel. Especially with all the blood!
Would recommend if you want a book full of dark characters that you love, star-crossed + enemies to lovers and some lgbt rep!

This book was overall very lame. I have never rolled my eyes SO MUCH.
What I liked: - Connor - Ruhn, but only at the start. He was boring by the halfway point - Some parts were entertaining (the first 100 pages and the ending) - Bryce and Ruhn’s relationship
What I hated: - how it’s basically the same concept as her other books; old guy with a young woman whose mortal but eventually becomes immortal. - Hunt was boring. I liked him and Bryce as friends, not as lovers. Their romance felt forced (especially the hate to love part), and also Hunt was still obsessed with his dead lover from 200 years ago soooo. Should’ve just been friends - Bryce and Hunt have no personality, they’re just two really attractive people. - The mystery was just meh. Nothing new or exciting.
some examples of what had me rolling my eyes: - Bryce has big tits and ass but oh no...more
