SCARLET AND WOLF ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!!! Well I loved all the couples apart from Cress/Thorne. Thorne annoys the fuck out of me but his best moment was when he punched Jacin for betraying them, and then hugs him for looking after Cress.
An absolute insane conclusion to the Shadow of the Fox trilogy. I am completely destroyed.
Like the first two books in the series, this is full of actAn absolute insane conclusion to the Shadow of the Fox trilogy. I am completely destroyed.
Like the first two books in the series, this is full of action, a great fantasy world of Japanese mythology, an intricate plot, and very loveable characters.
I adore the found family in this. Yumeko, Tatsumi, Okame, Daisuke and Reika are so wholesome, I can’t get enough of them, and their banter. The romantic relationships are also so heartwarming. I’ve loved seeing Yumeko and Tatsumi’s slow-burn relationship develop over the series, and how Okame and Daisuke have evolved together.
I’m so sad to see Yumeko’s journey come to an end. She has come so far from the sheltered, naive girl she was, into an incredibly strong character, who loves and protects everyone and everything around her.
I have never been so emotional over a book before. There is so much heartbreak and pain, I probably spent half the book crying.
I did find the ending slightly disappointing. It was beautiful, but my heart couldn’t handle it.
Overall if you love stories with quests, Japanese mythology, lgbt rep, found family and unlikely friendships/relationships I’d recommend this series to you.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Harlequin Australia for providing an ARC. ...more
“For a little while, my world was brighter...because I met you’”
I am obsessed with everything about this book. The characters are wonderful, the plot “For a little while, my world was brighter...because I met you’”
I am obsessed with everything about this book. The characters are wonderful, the plot is so engaging, and the world building is so intense.
This series have the perfect amount of romance, but is more focused on the quest and friendships, which I adore since found family is a favourite of mine.
Did not expect Okame and Daisuke’s relationship to develop how it did but holy shit, I love them. They're definitely an unlikely couple but they’re so freaking cute I wanted to scream!! especially that scene where Yumeko is spying on them
Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of Yumeko and Tatsumi in this but the parts we got at the end were beautiful. Tatsumi is an absolute sweetheart. Yumeko is so lovely and kind, but still so incredibly strong, and has come so far from the naive girl she was in book one.
Overall if you love stories with quests, Japanese mythology, lgbt rep, found family and unlikely friendships/relationships I’d recommend this series for you!

"Adam felt Ronan's eyes glance off him and away, his disinterest practiced but incomplete. Adam had wondered if anyone else had noticed. Part Reread:
"Adam felt Ronan's eyes glance off him and away, his disinterest practiced but incomplete. Adam had wondered if anyone else had noticed. Part of him wished they did and immediately felt bad, because it was vanity, really: See, Adam Parrish is wantable, worthy of a crush, not just by anyone, someone like Ronan, who could want Gansey or anyone else and chose Adam for his hungry eyes."
So Adam's never been my favourite but this reread of Blue Lily, Lily Blue has made me love him so much, especially his relationship with Ronan and Persephone. And Ronan!omg he has got to be one of my favourite characters ever. And I loved it so much how he was with Blue at the end of the book, he can be such a sweetie.
“It was amazing that she and Ronan didn’t get along better, because they were different brands of the same impossible stuff.”
He heard Adam say, “I don’t want to talk,” and Ronan reply, “The fuck would I talk about?”
“You guys have a death list?” Ronan broke in. “That is fucking dark. Am I on it?”

Blue and Gansey... I love them waaaay more the second time around.
“She was furious at her body for betraying her, for wanting him differently than any of the other boys.”
“Blue had acquired a used set of coveralls from somewhere and the sheer effort of not looking at her in them was taking what little concentration he could dredge up.”
“I just want to pretend. I want to pretend that I could." He breathed out. What was a kiss without a kiss?
“You can be just friends with people, you know," Orla said. "I think it's crazy how you're in love with all those raven boys." Orla wasn't wrong, of course. But what she didn't realize about Blue and her boys was that they were all in love with one another. She was no less obsessed with them than they were with her, or one another, analyzing every conversation and gesture, drawing out every joke into a longer and longer running gag, spending each moment either with one another or thinking about when next they would be with one another. Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn't all-encompassing, that wasn't blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she'd had this kind, she didn't want the other.”

Noah freaking breaks my heart. He was so sad for most of the book and I’ve realised he knows A LOT more than he is letting on..
Noah shook his head again. “It’s easy to know a lot of things when time goes around instead of straight.”
“were you aware there was someone under...?” He indicated the storm-dark area beneath the pool table. If Blue squinted, she could make out a form in the black. “Noah,” Gansey said. “Come out at once.” “No.” Noah replied.

I think you really need to read this series twice to fully understand everything because this book has very subtle hints in it for The Raven King, that you would not understand unless you’ve already read the whole series before. So it kinda answers a lot of questions I had at the end of the series, since the answers are literally just in the previous books!! - Spoilers.. “So he didn’t know if it was true or not, but he sort of liked to believe that the third sleeper had been him”
“Adam? Unless he’s sleeping.” “No,” Adam said. “I’m awake.”
Is Adam one of the sleepers!!!???? and now he is awake?? Wtf I did not pick up on this the first time around and now I am questioning everything....more

I loved Yumeko and Tatsumi! YuReview summary: Favourite characters: Yumeko, Tatsumi and Okame. Plot: 5/5 - I loved the Japanese mythology Enjoyment: 5/5
I loved Yumeko and Tatsumi! Yumeko is a peasant girl with a lot of secrets and Tatsumi is a cold samurai who has been taught to not feel any emotions because they lead to weakness. But of course when he meets Yumeko he starts feeling things he's never felt before. I looove this; when a detached, emotionless character has their one weakness.
I honestly didn’t think I’d like the Japanese mythology but it was SO good and interesting!
The only complaint I have is that I wished the reveal of Yumeko being a kitsune was done better because I wanted to to be more of a WOW moment ...more
