The author shares insightful tips on how to keep your prayers from becoming rote and uninspired.
The concept presented is simple yet powerful. I particularly enjoyed the idea of taking one of the Psalms, reading it line by line, and praying it into your personal situation.
Though the book is short and has the feel of a podcast, not everyone listens to podcasts, making this book a valuable resource for those looking to revitalize their prayer life.

'Counting the Cost' marks my second book about the Duggar family. Jill is the fourth Duggar and she provides a unique perspective on her journey.
In her early years, Jill aspired to be the ideal child for her parents, avoiding any disruptions or conflicts. However, her perspective began to shift when her father introduced her to the man she would eventually marry. She began to question things like her participation in the family's tv show without any compensation.
'Counting the Cost' captures the essence of her journey, showcasing how she found her voice while navigating the complexities of life with her parents, especially her dad. This book is not just a personal narrative but an eye-opening exploration of the cost of growing up Duggar.
Depending on where you are in your life journey, some of the ideas in this book may seem, at times, like common sense.

"Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity."
I enjoyed reading this book and can see how this book can resonate with a wide range of people.

As a Dutch watchmaker, she courageously jeopardized herself and her family by sheltering Jewish individuals in their home to protect them during the Holocaust. Eventually, she was apprehended for harboring Jewish people and was sent to the concentration camps. The narrative spans both that challenging period and the aftermath.
While I have reservations about the writing style, which occasionally felt disjointed and made it challenging to follow, my admiration for Corrie ten Boom compels me to give this story a rating of 4 stars.

And then he shares about the ultimate posture to live life with God.

She shares about her parents and their troubling childhoods and how the things done to them were carried on into their parenting of Britney and her siblings. Her dad was the worst and I can't imagine having him traumatize you as a child and then be in control of your life as an adult for 13 years (the conservatorship).
While I feel sad for what Britney's been through I'm glad she was able to freely share with the public. Hopefully, in a way, this book is part of her healing journey.

My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead."
Titled "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," the book offers an encompassing look into Perry's life.
FRIENDS: He covers his relationship with both his friends and co-actors from the iconic TV show, providing an insightful perspective.
LOVERS: He sheds light on surprising aspects of his love life, revealing unexpected relationships.
BIG TERRIBLE THING: He candidly discusses his life with addiction. The book, published in November 2022, chronicles his ongoing struggles with drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. He portrays how it wasn't just drugs and alcohol that was a struggle for him to overcome but that his addiction to cigarettes was one of his toughest challenges.
As a fan of FRIENDS, learning about Matthew Perry's struggles and eventual passing saddens me. I hope this book serves as a source of inspiration for anyone grappling with similar challenges, encouraging them not to lose hope.
