I really enjoyed this novel! I think the core three characters of Monty, Percy, and Felicity all brought something to the table in this off the rails adventure across a few countries.

The reason this isn’t a five star reading for me comes down to some pacing issues. I don’t honestly know what I wanted out of this book but I do wish the pacing had been better. As I think some parts were a little slow and others dragged a little too long. But nonetheless this was still an amazing book and I can’t wait to pick up the sequel. And I will most certainly read anything else Mackenzie Lee writes.
Now time to get to my pros and cons.

I mentioned the warnings but please look for reviews to see if the PTSD is accurate. As I am not an expert on that topic.

PROS:

1.) Despite the pacing issues I felt that were in this book that made the book more slow the characters did save it from being boring.
2.) I enjoyed the writing and since this is a book largely with the three main characters being left alone to discuss the problems they are having alone I feel Mackenzie Lee did a good job with it. What I mean is that all the characters have distinct voices and reasons behind their actions. None of the characters, even the side characters felt bland or cookie cutter characters.
3.) Ummm Felicity! I can see why she captured the hearts of so many people and I love her and can’t wait for the sequel which is her POV.

CONS:

1.) The biggest con for me is that although I love Monty(more than some people) I see the problems with the book being written in his POV. I love him and don’t care that it was but thinking like a reviewer I just feel like Percy and Felicity completely outshined him in every scene and they offered more to the story. Although I wouldn’t go as far as some to say he was completely useless because in my opinion he did offer stuff to the story but the other two offered more. And I think this is bad when he is the MAIN main character and the story revolves around him and is only in his POV. The main character with the only POV shouldn’t be so completely outshined by characters that don’t even have POVs. Or at least not as bad as Monty was. I think this book could have solved this small issue with Felicity and Percy getting POVs along with Monty.

That is my only con and honestly it’s not that big of a deal for me but it was something I wanted to address since I saw others mention their distaste for Monty. I for one enjoyed him a great deal and am sad that he doesn’t get another book with his POV showing him more grown up and stronger. But I am excited for the Felicity POV sequel and hope he makes an appearance. And I’m excited for Mackenzie Lee works.
