Scandinavia dark. A dour Inspector Wallander is trapped in what seems like a depressive Ingmar Bergman film. There's a lot of Mankell's competence in place and character description - but if you've read some of the other books in the series there' s nothing new here. And there are too many red herrings and false leads - and anyway, I figured out exactly what was going on quite early in the book, a long time before the poor Inspector figured things out for himself.
