A time travel book can either be really good or really not, and this falls squarely in the former category. I was so impressed with how well it was done! It was a really unique way to introduce time travel and, honestly, feels *almost* plausible. The suspense, the mysteries, the different time periods, with their expectations and customs, were all incredible and kept me on my toes! Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I absolutely had to know how it would end. This book was so well written!

Marian and Will are characters that pull you in right from the start. I admired Marian’s determination, hard work, and perseverance. She went through quite a lot to try to unravel the mystery her father left for her, and she definitely adjusted to the changes she experienced better than I would have. In some ways, I had a hard time with Will (it’s the feminist in me, okay?), but ultimately decided I really liked him. I liked that he was a man of integrity and kindness, and while I still think he was accurately depicted as a male in the Middle Ages, he also didn’t demean or under-appreciate the women in his life. I liked that.

I still have many unanswered questions that I expect will be answered in subsequent books. I’ve been hooked and most definitely want more. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to read the next one!
