Part of the First Feelings series, this board book uses accessible language and simple illustrations to follow a fuzzy orange creature who expresses feelings in inappropriate ways. Most readers will be able to relate to feeling frustrated or angry or grumpy for various reasons and even acting out as the main character does. But what is most appreciated in this book is how the text provides coping skills for dealing with this particular emotion. Rather than having a temper tantrum, stomping, throwing things, and blaming others, maybe a better move would be to pause, take a breath, and change that mindset to focus on positive rather than negative things. Although the book's intended audience is little ones, there are plenty of adults who can profit from its suggestions.
