3.75 although I feel like this is impossible to rate...

Of all the weird, dark, concerning books I've read and loved, Fallen Under might have been the one that left me the most unsettled.
Not for its darkness, necessarily, but for how it messes with the head.

I have to admit that I might have DNFed, had I not read reviews that talked about how there is a point when you question everything you thought you knew about the story. And I am so glad I pushed through because YES. It's true.

In hindsight, the things that had thrown me off suddenly made sense.

The FMC is vague and without contour but still made it possible to fall into her story. Which this is. It's her story. So I had no option but accept her view of things, the lease through which she sees the other characters, however unaccounted for it might seem at times.

Without giving much depth to the characters, the author managed to create dynamics that were equally off-putting and weirdly understandable. The book takes what it needs, the plot is at no point drawn out artificially and has no urge to resolve everything.

This is a rollercoaster and I can't lie, I am still a bit shaken after getting off the ride.

Sadly, I struggled a bit with the writing style. I admit that, knowing what I know now, even the rather straight-forward, retelling type of writing makes sense. It read, at parts, like a diary.
However, I personally feel like it could have done with just a little more polishing, but that is my very subjective take.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Fallen Under and can see it being loved by many dark romance girlies who are in for a little suspense and a lot of mindfuck.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review
