A Dog's Life: Autobiography of a Stray

Like the title suggests this is about a stray dog, one by the name of Squirrel. We follow her from birth until she is getting old, and tired. For most of that time she is a stray. At one point she becomes a summer dog for one family, and eventually, when she is getting old, she finds a home.
It’s a really strong story. A much stronger story than I thought it would be when I started reading it. Quite emotional. Really pulls the heart strings. It’s a children’s book, so it’s not very long, but it feels bigger than the page count somehow.
Could I critique it somehow? Could I say this or that could have been handled better? Probably, but I’m not going to. It touched me, and I think it’s a beautiful, sometimes harsh, but always strong novel for kids. And I think it is worth a read for adults as well.

Hi Hákon, really love your self-restrained review! Your comment, "it’s not very long, but it feels bigger than the page count somehow." says it all! This is the best brief review I've read on GR to date, thank you 🧚♀️🙋🏼.
