The Return of the King takes about a hundred pages to sink one's teeth into, but persevering is worth it for the glint of sunrise on a victorious maiden's hair, for the show of willpower against all odds in the eleventh hour, and for the golden bloom of a happy ending.

"And she answered: 'All your words are but to say, you are a woman, and your part is in the house. But when the men have died in battle and honour, you have leave to be burned in the house, for the men will need it no more. But I am of the House of Eorl and not a serving-woman. I can ride and wield blade, and do not fear either pain or death.'

@Travis: It's an old paperback print I found at an antique store for $3.00. Three stars because the book swayed back and forth between a two-star read and a four-star read. There were moments where I was spellbound and others where I was slogging through page after page just wanting it to be over. When that happens, I tend to land in the middle and opt for the three star review.
Ah... I see you read these individually no wonder we didn't match. I have mine all under the trilogy.
@Aaron: Yes. It took me some time to get around to buying all three. The first was a spontaneous bookshop purchase. The second came years later - ordered online (probably) after watching the movies. And the third - a cheap little paperback - I found for a few cents at an antique store. :D
